ELLIOTT GRAY
Age: 24 PB: 44lb 2oz
Elliott works at Korda HQ across both the product development and marketing departments. He's already a strong-minded big-fish angler with his own angling style. He has developed a presence in a few of the monthly magazines in recent times and continues to search out big, target carp on a weekly basis. He loves big commons and, having caught a couple of cracking upper thirties, he's now turned his attention to one that's nearly 10lb bigger! You'll be able to follow his progress during this campaign in his regular diary slot on this site.
You can see plenty more of Elliott's work right here as well because if he's not appearing in front of the camera then he'll often be shooting material from behind one.
He has an eye for a good rig and his experiments led him to develop his version of the hinged stiff link that's already accounted for a load of big 'uns. All at Korda expect big things from Elliott, so watch this space to see how his carp fishing progresses.

I see people complaining about the use of braided mainline. I know that, like a lot of products in angling, if used badly or incorrectly they could be dangerous. As long as it is used safely and in the right circumstances braided mainline is another useful tool in a carp anglers armoury. At the front of any carp anglers mind, at least a GOOD carp angler, is safety for the fish. If we all thought like this then there would be less unfounded bad views on certain elements of angling.

dont be fooled by the big bait companys. some of the best days can be had on maggots, corn, spam or bread etc. The classics still work well when fished right.

But these often fall off or get eaten by smaller fish for long sessions I have to say boilies are better but I agree for day sessions

When I fish for carp in the Chemung river in Elmira NY I watch my rod tip not use an alarm system it is easier to tell if you have a bite by watching your rod tip

In uk we use self hooking rigs so dont have to watch the rod tip, just wait for the alarm to sound when a fish takes the bait. Welcome to the 21st century 😂

"There's absolutely no advantage to keeping the lead" Except not having to pay for a new friggin lead everytime a fish picks up your bait. Classic sponsored fishermans logic

When your fishing specimen lakes where you could be there a week without a run or where there is 20 carp over 20-100 acres, they could be the difference between blanking and bagging a brute though. I agree for your average fishery they are over the top. However most small lakes what have plenty of fish in and you dont got to cast too far i use abit of earth cable tied round a stone with a swivel attached (works exactly the same) and believe it or not...stones look more natural than a big dirty lead in most lakes and you can pick up a pocket full for FREE!

I love carp fishing and fishing as a hole but I'm getting sick at how much its all starting to cost . These company's are making it so only rich people can go fishing i can afford to do this but it not fair for others . Just today i bought 1kg bag off boilies one glug two packs off maggot rings bag of pellets three packs off pva bags and a tin off pva friendly hemp and tiger nut 54.99 What a joke oh and two pints off maggots and thats not including my license and day ticket . What was a past time hobbie is becoming just a past time for alot off people shameful how does danny ect sleep at night with a big smile no their faces

you don't need all those. All you need is your license and great quality corn. other than that, most of the things you need for carp fishing are household items. cornmeal, vanilla extract are great additives for carp. I know a few guys who swore by boilies but i've caught carp side by side with them using corn on the hook straight. know the spots or where the chums are.
@matmc71
@matmc71 8 жыл бұрын
You dont HAVE to buy all that stuff. Dont fall for the marketing. Sweetcorn and hemp is all you need to feed a swim. Hemp is cheap if you buy from a farm shop and cook yourself. Chelmsford Angling Association (who run this lake) is a great value club. Tackle has actually got cheaper over the years. Its just brands like Delkim, Korda, Trakker etc. that are capitalising on their brand name. Its is purely marketing that makes you think you need glugs and pellets and this and that.
