For those who think the reaction of the audience is weird: I'm Japanese. We, Japanese are not very used to dancing....Also, quite possibly standing up might have been prohibited so that the people on the seat behind etc.... (It is only my presumption though) Anyway, I wish people here would accept the cultural difference. I believe the audience in this video are enjoying the concert in their way! I was born after Karen passed away, but I love Carpenters' songs very much :)

This is a great remake of the Hank Williams classic. Karen Carpenter has always been my favorite female pop music artist, and David Cassidy has always been my favorite male pop music artist. Now sadly, both are gone. I miss them both. 70's pop music is so much better than what's on the radio nowadays. I wish we could go back to the 70's. Great times and great music!

Karen, inmortal, la unica, una diosa.... Te extraño... te amo....
It seems everyone has a different interpretation of the 6th line, most taking it to be "'cause tonight I'm gonna see my cher ami-o," (my dear friend), adding the "o" to rhyme with the previous line's "gumbo." But this is wrong. Hank Williams definitely sings a "plural" version of the phrase, meaning he's gonna see his dear "FRIENDS." In French, the phrase is expressed in plurals of EACH word in the phrase, i.e., "mes chers amis," (my dear friends) pronounced in French as "MAY SHAIRZ AMI," where the first "s" is silent, the second "s" pronounced, and the third silent again. Strange language, French. What Hank actually sings is, "'cause tonight I'm gonna see my MA SHAZ AMI-O," where he's used the word "my" twice (probably cause he didn't speak French). Goodbye Joe me gotta go me oh my oh Me gotta go pole the pirogue down the bayou My Yvonne the sweetest one me oh my oh Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and a filet gumbo Cause tonight I'm gonna see my "mes chers amis-o" (pronounced "may shairz ami-o") Pick guitar fill fruit jar and be gay-o Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou The Thibideaux, the Fontenots, the place is buzzin' Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen Dress in style and go hog wild me oh my oh Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou Settle down far from town get me a pirogue And I'll catch all the fish in the bayou Jambalaya and a crawfish pie... Later on, swap my mon, get me a pirogue and I'll catch all the fish on the bayou Swap my mon, to buy Yvonne what she need-o Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou Jambalaya and a crawfish pie...
