Yeas, that song and lyrics show us an ancient happy mood from Louisiana culture, the tradition of food from the french and spanish settlers... I'm brasilia, speak portuguese and as the same way grew up listening this music.I love with all my heart Karen Carpenter. Jambalaya is a delicious traditional dish of Lousiana and caribian countries,as the same way the "gambo" named "caruru" here in the north of Brasil, rich in Shrimp and okra (sometimes okra is also called gambo),

For you youngsters who don't know it, Karen Carpenter died of anorexia. Had she focused on her talent and beautiful soul rather than "being thin enough" we'd have a lot more songs of her to enjoy today. She would have lived a lot longer. Your value as a person is immense too - and has absolutely nothing to do with your body's shape! Listen to this woman's soul. It's your soul that is a liquid drop of God. Let's put an end to anorexia and bulimia!!

So, you think that Karen did something wrong instead of all the people who were letting her down??? Why don't you blame the people who wouldn't let her be a drummer where she wanted to be instead of a fake statue, which made more money for everyone? Or blame or husband who divorced her to date other women? Or the people who pressured her to be skinny and pretty so she made them more money? Or the people who forced her to record and perform non stop for years so she made them money??? Duh!!!
