She was the best vocalist but that is lip syncing, which shows would make all musicians do bk then. Idk how they managed to get it so matched up. That’s a true talent too.

@@LLynneM As usual, her delivery was perfect, and perfectly timed. I don't have any problem with the lip sync show, as I know is was a lot easier to pull off for the producers than trying to do it all live. I think the only one we could count on for live shows on TV in the 1960's was the Ed Sullivan show.

As a performer, yes. Karen was a stunning virtuoso singer/drummer. The standard for performing back then was generally way higher than today, and of course there are a lot of technical aids to help these days with electronic sequencing, autotune etc. Having said that, some of today's major acts do have real talent. Coldplay and Chris Martin rock. Taylor Swift is not in the same league as Karen for performing skill, but she is solid instrumentalist, and a genius songwriter. I am a guitarist and pianist myself, so I understand playing/performing.

53 years since it was released has not dampened her unique singing timbre or range, nor the 41 years (Feb. 1983) since we lost her to her own internal demons. She was only 21 here, and had a powerful, full-featured voice by 17. She should have had another 40 years of superb singing and drumming, both of her skills have been described as the finest for the female side. Her rare, lowest-register (for women) contralto voice and 3-octave range gave her a depth of emotion not heard from the usual mezzo-soprano or sopranos. It makes us feel as though she actually is experiencing what she is singing, with automatically more credibility to her. There's been no other woman singer who can do what she does in touching your emotions. Lost her in being with us at only 32, but her spirited, remarkable voice will forever be heard with that magnificent quality she enthusiastically gave everyone to enjoy as long as humans exist on the planet.

That is as pretty a song as you will hear. As melodic as anything Carole King ever did, with the same richness Carly Simon brought to her songs. Karen and Richard were successful but she deserved better than what she got in terms of recognition. Performances like the one she gave with this song remind us that God must love music because voices like Karen's are truly a gift from above. It's just a shame he wanted her back in His choir so soon. RIP young lady, you were great and not forgotten.

She was such an extraordinary performer, I couldn't tell by her synching. When the drum rolls cane in near the end of the song, her playing didn't match the score. That's when I knew.
