We are big family, our house was near the river. Most of us don't understand English, but Karen sang this song with perfectly voice and the beat is nice. Beautiful memories with my late mom and dad. My cousin told me that Karen Carpenters voice was judged to be perfectly on pitch and rhythm, etc. Essentially musically perfect. Well I believe it. She is so kind and acknowledging of her brother, just makes you happy to know such kind people exist. Grew up hearing this and their many songs and enjoying them greatly. Of course I would never admit to this at the time, as far as my buddies were concerned I was listening to hard rock, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Johnny Winter and such. Well here I am 50 years later and will confess I liked the Carpenters, Barry Manilow, and a million other "nerdy" groups and singers. Just finished listening to Petula Clark, Downtown. Wow, assumed this was the norm, surrounded by great groups and music. Remember AM radio? Very lucky to grow up with such great music. Cherishing it now as I have hit some hard times due to my loving wife's health. All us "oldsters" need to remember back, they were indeed good times and our music was the best. feel bad for the kids now a days but many of the young people I work with are looking back and enjoying our old time music. Nothing wrong with todays young folks, just need to point them in the right direction.

Don’t say God called her home. She starved herself until she had severe damage done to her body. That wasn’t God’s doing, it was people who made her feel like she needed to be skeletal.
@nurse5803 жыл бұрын
Did you ever consider this? If God ‘calls people home’ we have to also say he chooses their CAUSE of death. That means God would sit up there in heaven looking down on earth at individuals saying ‘This one can die of cancer’, ‘this one dementia’, mmmm a car accident would be best in this persons case’ and in Karen’s case ‘a slow painful death from anorexia would be best”?? What a terribly cold and cruel God this would be! Do we really believe he cruelly and deliberately takes people from their families causing others immeasurable grief as well?? I’m sure you don’t. Unfortunately we have been brought up with certain sayings like this one ‘God takes people’. This insult to God originates with leaders of churches that call themselves ‘Christian’ who have the Bible but choose to teach God dishonouring doctrines like this one. Please see Ecclesiastes 9.5 for the truth about death....’ the dead know nothing at all...’. Jesus clearly stated death was the same as sleep, a state of unconsciousness until the time of the resurrection...see John 11. The Bible also clearly teaches that death is an “enemy’, that Gods purpose is to restore the human race to everlasting life and he ‘yearns’ to do so as He is a God of love not a God of hate and cruelty like his greatest enemy Satan who is ‘a liar and the father of the lie’ (John 8.44) and this belief is clearly one of his lies. I say this out of understanding how we all repeat sayings we’ve been taught and that get passed down through generations. I have been guilty of the same until I learnt the truth. All the best

The timbre of Karen's voice gives her songs an intimate dimension that cannot be taught; it is, quite simply, a gift. Compare her range on the low notes of this song with the many others who recorded it. She is in a class all her own. She could take an average song and turn it into pure gold, an ability very few singers can match.

Carol Meckes : Yes, she’s there with the angels. Another vocalist who passed away recently but in my generation ( 1960s ... I’m 74 years old) had a worldwide cult following. Her name Morgana King with a celestial heavenly ethereal voice, unique and mesmerizing. Just like Karen. When a song by her came over the radio, ( today Spotify , KZbin , etc) within the first 30 seconds ( Like Karen ) you KNEW it was Morgana King and you stopped whatever you were doing to listen. Frank Sinatra called her the best female vocalist he ever heard. If I may so bold as to suggest you listen ( when you have a few moments) to the following 4 songs that will silence your mind and open the floodgate of your heart. 2 were created and posted by a “ Morgana fan” with remarkable imagery which enhanced the emotional impact!! And hope you add them to your playlist so that others may enjoy. Please KZbin “ Morgana King Happy Birthday 2017” ( 4:26 in duration). The song is called “ desert hush/I am a leaf” please be sure to click the 4:26 one ( the one with a photo of her with lyrics) and NOT the 4:25 or any of the others. “ Morgana King Prelude to a kiss” ( 3:49 duration) “Morgana King Lazy Afternoon” ) 3:48 duration with hauntingly beautiful imagery that enhances the already emotionally impactful Morgana rendition. Perfect for our times of isolation with no humans ( but you and tour lover) but enraptured by the natural world. And finally one more that is to this day her signature song about a lover that promised to return but never did. “ Morgana King sings a taste of honey” ( 5:17 duration). So pleased that the younger generation who I send these songs to are amazed and profusely thank me for turning them on to Karen and Morgana Again, if you love Karen Please listen to Morgana. Her emotionally impactful voice will transport you to another world. R.I.P. Morgana King R.I.P. Karen Carpenter All love in isolation from Miami Beach, Al

Then I heard the "we've only just begun" on the movie 1408 and liked it too. I only knew my Grandma for 7 years and all these old songs bring back good memories of staying with her and sadness too because I loved her and still remember and miss her. But she had a great taste in music. We used to listen to Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, The Beach Boys, The Jackson 5, The Bee Gees, Dion and The Belmonts, and that was just to name a few. I do listen to the 80s too but the 50s, 60s, and 70s are my favorite just because it brings back those fond memories and I truly love the music also. Gary Price yes it was unheard of back then. Maybe we could look on that as another precious legacy Karen left behind, a gift to all sufferers of anorexia, that it allowed more research and treatment options for this dreadful disease to be looked at and acted on. At the bare minimum it bought it into the open and allowed sufferers empathy at least, not ridicule that most would have got back in them days.
