I used Darkside initially and wasn’t a big fan, but turns out it was user error. I didn’t realize Darkside was so thick so the applicator I used wasn’t the best. The second time around I properly cleaned the tires, used a different applicator and was really impressed. I really like it and love how dark the tires stay. It’s nice to have options with this and Perl. I’m gonna grab a bottle of Blackout and give that a try on my next full detail. Thanks ask for all The great info and tutorials Pan. I just used dark side for first time… it is much more gel product than I expected… I used a very tight bristle tire brush …. It takes a few minutes… but seems to put a very good coating and protection… looks almost identical to appearance of the Adam’s grapheme tire shine… very pleased with the initial application and appearance of dark side …. Thank you for recommending it… once again …. You have introduced a quality product…👍🏼😜

I have been using Adam's graphene tire dressing for the past year and have no complaints, but after watching this on dark side, I just may have to give it a try. I am really impressed by the improvements to tire dressings over the years, it is a lot to ask of these products, tires get hot, flex, and take a lot of abuse from uv, the elements on the road etc. plus I am on a lot of construction sites with dirt, rocks, fresh pavement etc. and I like the way they repel dust, all you need is a squirt of water and wipe with a towel and the tire is clean and still looking dressed. sorry Luke, I am heading to the dark side.

For me PERL seems to last about 2 weeks for sure with 1 wash per week and pretty much rainy weather (worst case senario for my area). PERL obviously has the advantage that it can be used in the interior, so it's an inexpensive solution for both the interior and the exterior.

This is great for tires but great for exterior plastics as well. I've used it full strength applied with foam applicator and buffed it off with microfiber within 60 sec. Much more consistent than Pearl at 1:3. I emailed Carpro and they said it's fine to use on exterior plastics as long as you buff off within 60 sec.

Thanks for sharing! Yeah BlackOut is very good, but like anything long lasting, tires need to be perfectly prepped and degreased prior to application. In my Quebec winters, it lasts 2-3 months, and 5 months in the summer. I'm seeing decent enough results with DarkSide so far, and the price is much less expensive and is much quicker to apply, so I might stick with DarkSide for a while.

Hey Pan, I have a challenge for you. Something you have not covered before. How do you ceramic coat intricate/complex designed wheels? For example, multi-piece wheels or wheels with rivets. Do you use a q-tip to apply and buff off the ceramic coat in the small hard-to-reach crevices that an applicator cannot? Wheels like JNC045 or Aodhan AH05 are perfect examples. Hope you can get back to me on this or show us in a future video. Thanks! 🇨🇦

The way DarkSide behaves, with maintenance washes I'd use a soft brush as I think there's a fair chance your stiff brush is doing the coating more harm than good. Used the three of them on my ram 1500 2022. My ranking is different from yours ! 1 Darkside 2 Perl 3 blackout Reason is I got close to the same results with blackout and darkside in terms of lasting ( 9 weeks for darside, 11 for blackout ) For the price and the application time and job, darkside is well over blackout. You get into your money really faster than with blackout Also, darkside is really easier to apply. I’ve got to use a brush on my tires ( goodyear wrangler duratrac ) cause it’s impossible to fill all the gaps with the tire applicator. Perl is in my opinion over blackout for is versality. Oh and you forgot someting critical: the smell ! Damn, blackout smells SO good !

Hi Pan, I was waiting for an update, thank you! I am wondering though ... how about washing the tires with something less aggressive? the product repels dirt basically ... i just keep thinking that with that stiff brush you are perhaps diminishing the product 🤔. I mean ... if you have a ceramic coating on a car, you do a thorough wash before the application but during the maintenance washes you dont use strong chemicals nor do you use polishing machine, compound, abrasive pad or clay bar, right? I love using PERL on interior, it just lasts and lasts and lasts. perfect. up until now i was using it also on tires but now I have a new favourite product 😀 Thank you for taking the time to do the review and update !! 🙂👍

This product performs similarly to Gyeon's Q2 Quartz tire dressing. Some people say CarPro and Gyeon are the same company that has create two brands to attain a higher market share.

DarkSide is easier to apply compared to Q2 Tire. For best results with Q2 Tire it’s best to heat the tire with a heat gun prior to application. To my knowledge, CarPro and Gyeon are two distinct companies, but they do have very similar lineups. There is no information saying if they’re formulated by the same blender.

I washed my tires, 5 years old, never cleaned before. I used foam canon with Carpro Descale, and iron remover. Unfortunately, it dried up. A white haze appeared on rubber that was very difficult to remove. After 30 minutes I only removed about 80% of it. It does not come off with Descale, Lift, IPA, Trix or car shampoo. 1. Why did it appear? 2. What’s the best way to remove it except Carpro Retyre? On another note, how to remove old Turtle FlexWax from intricate rims? Descale and Lift did not kill it.

Hi Pan, I am a new subscriber from Mexico, I just want to tell you I really appreciate all the time and effort you take into making and sharing the videos, keep up the work. Hi Gerardo. Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on KZbin as we surpassed 850,000 subscribers and 106 million views! I have been detailing for 25 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers. You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing. How often you apply DarkSide really depends on your conditions. In mine, it lasts 4 to 6 weeks after which is starts to fade. At that point when you see it starting to fade, just reapply some more. And yes you can apply a tire dressing on top after your regular washes if you want. Something like CarPro PERL diluted 1:1 is a perfect match. How did you discover my channel by the way?

Thanks for the update Pan! Would an Alkaline or high pH based tire cleaning product work best for stripping Darkside to reset the sealant? Just curious, have you tried using a water based dressing layered on top to give the tire a boost in gloss or did was it rejected? For stripping DarkSide, I would recommend CarPro Retyre: bit.ly/3HcLmjs I haven't tested toppers on DarkSide yet, as I wanted to see its durability as a standalone with nothing else on top. But in future applications, I would likely top it with CarPro PERL diluted 1:1 weekly.

1) Yes, absolutely. That a great maintenance product for it. 2) Typically, chemicals are good for 1 to 2 years, if stored in stable conditions and never frozen. Beyond that, it's hard to guarantee the product performance.

My only question/concern is will the solvent-based formula dry out the rubber at all in the long run? That seems to be the common problem with tyre "coatings" (as opposed to regular water-based dressings like Perl), not sure if this would suffer from the same given that it performs differently.
