As all FORD ST owners will tell you and I'm no different this is problematic. Went to my Ford stealership asked how much to replace drivers side scuff plate £150. £200 for passenger side turned around and left, it will stay unlit, that said now having seen this guy attempting to repair I will have a closer look at what might be causing the problem. By the way mate great video.

You can tear the light apart and replace your own led strip inside it :) it can be done, will explore in the future if another one breaks :) Thanks for watching!

@@CarRambles i always wondered if the Australian delivered model had the wiring harness for the light up strips, we didn't get the light up strips themselves but now I know how to take that side trim off to see the plug is there so cheers.

Strip off the metal top and install a red led strip then solder in original connections, it worked for me and it’s a really cheap fix 👍

Car Rambles yep cut the led strip to size, peel the copper strip on the original connection and solder that direct to the led strip. I got sick of going back to ford to have them replaced

Just repaired mine. An led had a soldered joint broken. The key to getting in side them is to use a flat non sharp blade to lift the top metal decorative strip off. Under this is a plastic cover glued. You have to carefully cut this and flap it back. Then you will see the 12 LEDs. Which you will need a magnifying glass to resolder them . Very cheap poor design..... Oh and for testing off car use a pp3 9v battery .

I’ve seen these really cool sill leds on facebook. The strips have super strong magnets and sensors so they light up when the door is opened. They have there own in built power supply and light setting, they have a USB port to charge the internal battery when low. Will these not do the job the build quality looks good and not cheap and tacky plus no having to splice wires.

Ive taken these apart fully, they fail further in on a mini circuit near the smd’s but once the unit is dismantled it never really goes back together - if anyone elses fails just buy an aftermarket set
