Carrie later said she was in the middle of a manic episode during this appearance. She said she knew she moved and spoke quickly during mania, so she deliberately slowed herself while walking out to the couch and sitting down. But then she started talking and you see/hear how rapidly she's speaking. As a fellow bipolar sufferer, I know what this feels like... it's the most extreme high... higher than any drug available. Everything's amusing, your wit is faster than everyone else's, you constantly smile... flirt... and spend lots of $$. You want to bring the whole world on the ride with you... and you believe that's possible. So, as amusing as this appearance is, compare this to interviews Carrie did while stable and you'll see that this is not her real personality. This is bipolar mania. I'll always love Carrie Fisher... she's a superstar. Not just as an actress/writer, but for her choice to take medication that eliminates highs that feel really, really good (but for the crippling depression that follows). Meds that make you gain 40-50 pounds, and that you're constantly adjusting. And for enduring the judgment of others... even from strangers who "tsk tsk"'d her smoking. (70% of people who have bipolar psychosis use nicotine because it helps regulate moods.) Rock on, Miss Fisher, wherever you may be. I miss you already.

ooh but I disagree greatly with that last sentence. She and her mother had the exact same dry, sly sense of humor. Her mother just let it out less often / let it be seen only rarely on camera. As she got older she let it out more because she stopped caring quite as much about being seen as inappropriate and whatnot. But you can tell by the jokes the mother makes that she and Carrie are the exact same in their humor and I LOVE it.

She must have heard that a bunch. There's a Canadian upload on You Tube of her doing stand up. (The thumbnail has her in a black and white tweed outfit.) 2 videos with 2 set up and punchlines. There must be the rest of that somewhere. All her speeches at AFI awards are fine too.

Carrie R.I.P but this interview was hilarious. I haven't found it until now so sorry I am late. Carrie was an honest person, to herself and to others. Maybe too honest but at least she never lied about herself. I loved her as an artist, as Leia, and as a human being.

I really like Carrie, I mean she's obviously a bit fucked from the pressures of hollywood, however, she's just so real, and genuinely seems like a good person. Also, it seems like it's such a strange thing to talk about sexuality like that, yet, I think the rest of the world is strange, not her.

@songbirdy4 жыл бұрын
Web Surfin She died of sleep apnea and other undetermined factors. Drugs were in her system but it was never determined that she died of an overdose of anything. All it proves is was she was still fighting her demons. Carrie wasn't actually laughing off her drug use here. Comedy was her way of dealing with struggle and pain.
