Everyone won’t “SAY NO”. 45 years after deregulation proves that point. Why not take solidarity off the table? It’s NOT a logical, viable solution because there is no mechanism or organization in the trucking industry strong enough to ever make that happen. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; the trucking industry as a whole is over regulated and filled with crooks and opportunists who will never stop taking advantage of truckers. My advice is to stop wasting your time and move on to another type of business or career choice.

The trucking business is tough, especially for owner-operators. High costs like fuel, insurance, truck maintenance, and driver pay make it hard to stay profitable. On top of that, brokers often take a large cut of the load, leaving even less for the operator. Despite these challenges, trucking is essential to the supply chain, but smaller operators struggle because big companies can absorb these costs more easily.

These owner operators are not going to shut down to go on strike, not even for a day. To many bills are still coming in, and I completely understand. What amazes me is that the port workers shut down, Amazon workers went on strike, McDonald's employees went on strike and etc, My point is that those people still had bills coming in, too. But they got fed up and made a difference for the better. I reckon they just got tired of making conversations that weren't getting any results, but conversations 🤷

Unfortunately I can not share what I think about this problem for two reasons: 1. my rant would be way too long for anyone to read. 2. KZbin would probably censor most of it. The only thing I would say is this, as long as there a carriers that will submit to those demands and pay for those “subscriptions”, there will always be some Alex that will continue to come up with these demands.

I'm finding that brokers are taking 25% or maybe about 20% as market rate right now, normal rate used to be less than 10%. Brokers are also requiring higher insurance including general liability. They are doing a lot to make themselves completely useless in the market, when carriers can go directly to shippers and customers and completely circumvent them for a huge gain. Next thing brokers will be requiring us to hold a surety bonds and then they will be completely valueless in the market. Shippers and customers would prefer working directly with drivers, half the reason they use a brokers just to vet and find the drivers but apps like truck stop can do that for them. Encourage the manufacturers of the apps, to find customers. Encourage them to market direct to customers. The customers will ship things cheaper, the carriers will get paid more. The brokers will be completely cut out of the loop

I have never been able to find an information resource for analysis of the OTR box truck frieght market, which has become a growing market segment. Certainly, reporting anaylsis of dry vans, refrigerated vans, and flatbeds Covers the majority of the trucking markets, but suspect you could grow your channel with the inclusion of the OTR 24'-26' strait trucks and expeditors. In what way does that stop you as a Carrier from double brokering? It doesn't it only supposedly protects the brokers. So, if the brokers business is the one to benefit from it then it should be their business that pays for it. On top of that the fact that all of this info is being collected and just handed out to all these brokers doesn't seem like a good way to protect yourself. How does this stop those scammer from continuing to setup legal legitimate brokerages and continuing to double broker? They make at least $100k to $1M in a month before they get caught, but since they are in a different country nothing happens to them. Then they just get new credentials from a local patsy or fake credentials and sign up for a legal brokerage business once again. But most of them don't even setup legal brokerages, but use stolen info to do it all. None of these suggestions or these 3rd party systems can stop any of that.

Pay to play has been going on for a while. FedEx Ground has required leased on operators to "buy a lane" or a daily route, ANNUALLY. Meijer Food Stores requires carriers to buy a lane annually as well. Those are just two i know of. What carriers are paying for is to not be undercut for that duration. Legal bribery. You have to pay for basic business ethics.

I've said it before. We simply need to unite. I personally saw how quickly the ports caved in to demands. Believe me when we finally unite. These brokers will be forced to cave in just as quickly. And with loads boards charging us. We are all technically already paying for loads.

It like the super ego verification for second chance carriers smh. I see no go comming from giving out that type of information. I feel like at that point is a security risk to your banking

Got off the phone with a broker that was braging that he was getting 50 percent avraage on all loads so if you got paid 2000 for hauling the load, the broker got the same 2000 so the load actually paid 4000 from the shipper

So another industry being hit by the subscription service plague. Not long until freightliner hides features behind a paywall and make you pay a subscription to access them. BMW already tried it with heated seats and Mercedes with additional horsepower.

Ok. Look. The thing is. Mega carriers had an Ad spend budget. Most small carriers have 0 clue how to get a direct customer, let alone create and run Ad Campaigns. All those third party services are owned by private people building large databases of info to sell for ads. Track drivers down to new potential customers. Then target ad campaigns for the new customers. Small carriers get pushed out from the pool of available customers. The big issue is. Is that top large and mega carriers can work as a group/team, while the rest usually stay broken up kinda pit against each other. Cause everyone wants to be “independent”.

Funny how they claim it's to battle fraud when they're asking for a key to your bank account.. I was hauling for JB Hunt for 5 years when out of nowhere last year they kicked me out of their system. I can not get a single person there to explain what the problem is either. They just keep saying to try back in a couple months..

+90% i bet ... its a shame people cant grow a backbone and learn to say "no" to all this nonsense. instead the jump up and down and ask for another hoop to jump though for the chance to haul more unprofitable loads .

I don't understand what bad thing people think is going to happen by sharing eld info. They can see my location and my hours or whatever. So what? They just want to see where their freight is. I don't find that unreasonable.

@A_A_Ron_G They will be able to know how many trucks are in a region and set rates accordingly. It also leaves your ELD open to hacking. Imagine your starting your day, fresh hours, and suddenly it's telling you that you have 2 hours remaining or just plain out of hours. It opens you up for a bunch of what ifs. Too risky.

Hell no!! There's needs to be a focus on double brokering and brokers needs to be vetted. It's not carriers that has this problem. We're vetted thru fmsca. Loads boards needs to be vetted. Lastly, brokers needs need to be sued for not paying and making sure the loads aren't double booked.

I like the basic foundation o f trucking... but it really is getting to be ridiculous and soon to bail out of this business, if things don't turn around, soon!!
