Awesome video and ride. I have done this trip 4 times since the early 2000's. The last time was around 2005. Road the entire trip from I-8 to Ocotillo twice. The first time I did it by myself and arrived in Ocotillo about 9:00 pm to the burger restaurant. After eating, I paid 2 ladies $50.00 to drive me back to my truck at the Jacumba exit on I-8 across from the Chevron. The 2nd trip I did with 2 friends and all of the tunnels were open and we even had a freight train go past us from Campo to the interchange with the UP railroad near Ocotillo. It was an amazing ride. Thanks for sharing!

True, there is some serious cliff exposure in places and all the trestle crossings, gotta pay attention while riding. But all worth it for incredible ride!

That looks great! Did you bring your own bikes or can you rent those nearby? I live across the ocean, so bringing my own would be an adventure by itself.

Been wanting to do this as a hike, Mtn. Bike seems like a fun alternative but that looks pretty hairy.

Yes there are two closed tunnel gates. There is a rough trail that goes up around mtn for both, first trail not bad, second brutal cactus everywhere be careful

Are the rumors true that if they catch you following this railroad trail that they can write you a ticket because it's on private property?

Amazing that old rail companies can park their old rail cars instead of disposing of them and get away with it.

Park their cars and get away with what? These are empty and sitting on property they own. Just like some parking a useless truck in their backyard.
