fun fact: this tank has the hull armor of the celere sahariano, which was supposed to be the italian version of the crusader tank. more scpecifically, after the italians fought against the crusader tanks, they wanted to make their own version of it, and made celere sahariano to combat those british cruiser tanks

actually they wanted their tanks to be fast way before ww2, their doctrine specifically required medium tanks to be fast enough for exploitantion, the only reason they were not as fast as british tanks is weaker engines (and they already knew they weren't going to be fast enough due to faceing BT-5s in spain). the issue is they didn't have an engine that filled all the requirements they wanted, and they didn't want to copy or import a foreign design. and development of the medio celere (and the celere sahariano that followed from it) started after they faced the T-34 in 1941, not the cruiser tanks in 1940. and this can be seen with the fact they added sloped armour before they changed the suspension system, and increases speed by use of a more powerful engine, while still useing M14/41 style suspension. meaning they were copieing soviet tank design not british. aditionally the suspension system used by the sahariano, while initially seeming to be based off the christie suspenision systems of the T-34 and british cruiser tanks (and often mistakenly claimed to be so by many english sources), it is infact identical to the italian style torsion bar suspension first seen on the L3/38. additionally the blueprints of the sahariano sho torsion bars. aditionally it has return rollers. the vehicle thus has nothing in common with the crusader other than being a medium tank intended for speed, but the same can be said for the M13/40 and M14/41 (and M15/42) these only fail due to the limitations of the italian industry (and the nationalism of italian leadership). they were intended for africa, and thus the british, but not the cruiser tanks specifically, but because the added speed was not percieved to be useful in the italian mountainous terrain. which is why it was cancelled after the loss of tunisia. some interesting facts about the vehicle tho, it orginally had a 47/40 gun. but this was already considered to be obsolete. at the time, the 47/48 and 57/54 were being tested as possible replacements. but when it was desided 75mm guns with HEAT would be better, a new turret was ordered for the sahariano that was never designed before the project was canceled (or atleast the designs have been lost).

Playing this as a pseudo medium helped me a lot. It has lower mobility than the tier 7 italian medium but makes up for it in dpm and effective turret armor using the gun depression. It’s honestly a fun vehicle, i am pleasantly surprised :)

The session I had day one with this was awesome. 31 games 71% wins. Averaging about 950xp per game. Over 6k WoT rating (which is unheard of for me haha). It just really works for some reason, it bounces a lot (even though it probably shouldn’t). 2600dpm (fully kited out). It’s honestly the only tank I’ve played in a long time that I can honestly say was fun and enjoyable. I see so many people memeing it, saying it’s worse than the tiger P and all that but I really don’t understand why. It just works (no Todd Howard).

In short, it's utter garbage. I would recommend to upgrade the tracks first or enjoy the turning radius of an oiltanker. I grinded it yesterday, this warps the experience a lot and makes it look better because you face mostly other P.88, having to grind this against Tigers and IS's is a whole other story.

Thanks QB. My plan, grab the T29 and hunt some P.88 before I take Chuck and his Santa's Girls crew out for the grind. Every tree has a DW-2 heavy to punish you. Mine is already loaded up with extra gold. As to the consumables, my first rack of equipment is more survival-oriented, Hardening and Configuration, along with rammer. Like you I see this grind being less painful hunting mediums, and with either gun, sniping isn't really an option. So the crap view range will have to be worked around. I have plenty of blueprints to step up after grinding the modules, so I won't hesitate to burn them at the earliest opportunity.

I'd agree with the consensus... play this one, like you play the P43.bis - aka as a medium. It's okay and the rounds shoot faster than the P43 with good DPM. You not going to puncture actual armor tanks without the gold and the stock gun is better in every aspect - aside from lower pen.

I don't know why, but it seems to work for me. Maybe because most of my games have been at tier VII as there are a lot of carrot pees in match making at the moment. Against tier VII the armor works well and even the stock grind wasn't that bad. Sure, it felt like TOG at the start, but after upgrading it, it doesn't feel that bad.

The first gun does not work at all when you play against tier 9s or even 8s. Even if you use premium ammunition, you won't pierce the lower plate on an 112 or an E75 from 10m. Also, you struggle with piercing a turret of an enemy P.88. When it comes to the second gun, you still struggle with piercing a lower plate of a Defender/Object 252 using premium ammunition (240mm penetration).

Slow as wet week so very unforgiving if you pick the wrong flank. Cannot trade with other heavies due to poor alpha and no armor, cannot compete with meds due to speed and view range (you will be outspotted by almost everything even with optics). Spawl liner is almost a must as without it you lose 1 or 2 or more crew members each and every time arty splashes withing 20 meters of you. You can make it work in a tier 7 game but anything higher and you'd better pray your team is great and carries you.

I really don’t like the decisions that WG made when deciding the specs of the upgraded gun on this tank. An upgraded gun should have better dispersion, aim time, penetration, and DPM than the stock gun, unless the upgraded gun has more alpha, but in this case with both guns having the same alpha, it makes no sense that the only advantage the upgrade gun gets is better penetration, but you have you give up a DPM, dispersion, and aim time. Makes no sense. An upgraded gun, should be an upgraded gun, not a worse gun.

I got the upgraded gun so I didn't need to spam the goldz ;) Just hide longer before you pull the trigger, like you will do in the tanks to come in this line. And the tank is not for the gogogo type of quackyboyz, give it time and it'll be a nice tank to play. Hardening, rotation and binocs works for me.

I've seen these out for two days now and I'm not impressed. Each morning after I finish my daily missions I get into various tanks that I don't play too often, just to remind myself of how they play. Each time I came up against a Carro I was in a lower tier medium and had no problem taking them out. My tier 6 VK30.01D ran circles around two of them and took them both out with enough hit points left to take out their one arty as well. Aggressive players with fast tanks will do well against the Carro!

I'm at the terrible tier V atm: A tier V version of the T-28 without alpha, without accuracy, without armor and it has a huge silhouette. Not having any fun in it but at least it's fast. xP Tier IV was atrocious too. Funny enough the tier V that leads to the mediums is much more enjoyable.

Sorry QB but I absolutly dont agree with that you can make the stock gun work without loading like 75% gold like you imply at the start of the video. The AP pen is so bad that you cant reliably pen a T6 medium tank in the front. Encounter anything at T8? have fun even with gold. So yes, if you basically only load gold, this is a choice. if you dont: its a freexp honeypot put in by WG.
