I've had carrot cake before without pineapple and pecans and let me tell you that this cake recipe is the BOMB! My late mother-in-law had what looks like the same one, so I can't wait to make this again. Thank you again for posting.

I 💯 agree with your comment. 100%, carrot cake needs pineapple and nuts.!!! (Later in life, my mom also added sweetened dried cranberries, which gave it a nice tang. And she never made cream cheese frosting, it never needed it. But I do love it, so I may have to try this recipe - without the cloves though. I’ve never liked that spice, and it’s easily omitted).
