Carrots grew in my soil for the first time this summer! I live in Pennsylvania. Thanks for the information about harder soil. I have clay soil that must be worked a lot. We are still developing it.

Just planted Envy carrots again about 4 days ago. They turned out great last year. Also going to plant some Purple Elite in 5 gallon buckets again, did fantastic last year. WISH we could go to that event. The old goat is hangin' out with the sweet potatoes :) Thanks so much ya'll.

The Old Goat is on top of the sweat potatoes in the basket. I have had no luck getting carrots started here in Alabama. I hope one day to figure it out. I think maybe I don't water them enough because there are some days I don't get out there.

I just saw another way to start carrots that I am going to try. 1 cup water to 2 tsp corn starch. Mix into a gel slurry. Place seeds in slurry in a far or baggy. After 3-4 days check to see if foot is emerging. Once root emerges, put in baggy, take to prepared bed, cut small peace from corner of baggy. Squeeze gel seed mix into prepared area. Slightly cover and keep moist. The slurry gives a great germination rate and protects the seedling giving it a better chance to take off.

I haven't planted my carrots yet but will plant soon. The Old goat is hiding in the sweet potatoes behind Shelia. Can't wait to grow carrots. I grew some last fall and had a great harvest for spring. Love all the Hoss varieties.

I planted my carrots early some rows came up other's didn't. Going to go back and replant soon. It's my 1st attempt. Now I have to figure out what types I even planted. we dont buy hardly any vegtables from the store, mainly bell peppers, everything else we are able to grow and it tastes soooo much better and your getting better nutrition in my opinion. WE do try and buy any veggies we need from the farmers market.

We are in NE Kansas and always have trouble with our carrots ... ground is too hard I guess. We need to put something in to soften the carrot row. I do have some beets and peas in now, and it's supposed to get into the 30's tonight, so will put something over them. (By the way, I see the old goat in with the sweet potatoes 🙂) Have a great trip!

Got my Viper and Olympus seeds in the mail today! I'm really hesitant to plant because of this dang drought! It's been over a month since we've had rain in this part of Alabama! I'm not there during the week, so I need some divine help with watering! :) I'm gonna beg you again to PLEASE get pelleted carrot seeds back! They are game changers as far as spacing goes! I swore I was not buying any loose seed this year, but I did. Loyalty won out, I reckon! 😊

I use my wheel hoe that I bought from y’all. I love that thing. I’ve had it for five years now I take that hoe with the cultivator teeth and that’s how hallucinate my soil. Then I lay my drip tape and then I plant my carrot seeds on both sides of the drip tape good to go.
