Not just for work travels! I did 3 weeks in Europe with just a carry on. A couple pairs of light pants, 1 pair of shorts, 4 tops, runners, and sandals with the outfit I wore on the plane. A sweater I wore on the flight, a light down jacket that scrunched into nothing and I was set! Easiest packing/unpacking ever! I've always 'rolled' my clothes. Takes up less room and less wrinkles.

I work for a non profit, and we used to have to share rooms on work trips. I always made sure to have new underwear and respectable pajamas. Having my own hotel room still feels like a luxury.

I used to with for the recreation department for the Navy and they always booked the women in double rooms but the men in singles. Ugh. Now I work for a non profit and we get our own rooms or I'm not going. 😂😅

I work in construction, and they always paired us into rooms... until one day I was awoken in the middle of the night by my coworker who was getting.... manly gratification.... from a woman. Separate hotel rooms for all after that... and nope, coworker was not fired... he had a discussion with our PM but not disciplined otherwise.

I feel that sharing accommodations with a coworker is dubious because it could set the company up for a possible sexual assault charge, whether real, or imagined, it puts you in an awkward position, like blackmail(?), if you don't stay in the room with me(?), you can't keep your job(?). It helps to know the employment rules, so you don't 'skirt' the law, (pun?) in workplace scenarios. You don't want to be in the position Donald Trump is currently finding himself. (Dufus)

@@neonhomer I heard a horror story about a worker who woke up in the middle of the night to find his drunk roommate urinating on him. He quit that job on the spot. I was lucky that I worked with very nice ladies and never had any issues, although for an introvert like me it was still stressful.

I would add a clutch or a small handbag for evening outings or a quick nearby office lunch. I also love to carry a pashmina or scarf to save me from icy air conditioners or sudden weather changes...

Great video, as usual, but don't try to travel with "hand luggage" that size in Europe! Also, four-wheeled luggage will lose you about a cubic foot of internal space in a small bag and nearly two in a large one. Two-wheeled luggage is better - and you don't look like you're walking a Dalek.
@driftwolf7 ай бұрын
Excellent advice. I've not used checked baggage for decades. ESPECIALLY for work trips. Remember, you can always wash your underthings and other hand-washable clothes in the hotel room if your company doesn't pay for laundry. And laundromats are usually cheap. I've managed 4 week trips with just carry-on, since once you just wash stuff you have basically unlimited clothing. Avoid dry-clean-only work clothes if possible (or have the company pick up the dry-cleaning bills). Also, most hotel rooms have irons and ironing boards available. To be fair, it's probably easier for guys. If we wear the same thing every day nobody says anything. But women seem to be expected to wear a different outfit each day, which is crazy.

I've done a week business trip abroad with just a carry-on. My colleague had her luggage lost in Italy and it was a lesson to us both. Packing cubes are a must. I tend to always be casual as I refuse to do suits or even jackets-- so jeans/ straight leg pants and a nice blouse for each day usually is just fine with plenty of room left over.

I used to fly on small regional airlines for business. I found the best travel bags were a travel backpack (40L) and a laptop computer bag for my electronics. Many small regional jets require you to check all roller carry on bags. Something I refuse to do. Being a guy, I have an advantage in the clothing department. I can pack for 5 days and bring my pillow from home and still have room to spare.
@loewhaley7 ай бұрын
I am curious what regional jets require all rollers to be checked? I have never experienced that!
@bwillan7 ай бұрын
@@loewhaley The smaller the aircraft the greater the chance of having to gate check roller bags (CRJ 200 usually, CRJ700 and CRJ900 sometimes). Most airlines that are running small regional jets almost always ask for volunteers to gate check their carry on roller bags.

I once had a bag checker at the airport use my small carry on bag as an excellent size for another passenger telling him he had to check his larger bag. 😂 My mom was an experienced packer (love minimalistic ways to pack so there’s room for souvenirs).

When you tell them that you don't want to sleep in a room with a coworker you will just pay for the room yourself (if they pay you enough?) You will just request a reimbersement when you get home. Then they will comprehend that blackmail is not a tactic that works with you.

Is possible that you would need to bunk if there is a convention in the area thus no extra rooms available at a reasonable price. But that won't likely be the case when you travel with your boss. Only when you travel with coworkers and the company is cheap.

I’ve shared a room with many people on work trips lol, once or twice a year even after Covid-19. Also I thought you were going to say a carry on is a struggle for a 2-3 week work trip, not a 2-3 day one 🙊 I’ve had a 2 week business trip (staying at 3 different cities, in the dead middle of winter) with just a carry on and personal bag.

Good video. But watching on youtube all those carry on packing videos I'm surprised that nobody talks about the weight. In couple weeks flying with AirBaltics (Europe) and in plain ticket it says that carry on bag and small personal bag must weight not more than 8 kilos. Aren't there any limits for wight in other airlines. I doubt

In Australia and New Zealand every airline limits cabin baggage to 7kg total. Occasionally they'll allow a laptop as extra, but most don't.

Depending on the fabric I bring a small empty spray bottle and use it to lightly mist fabrics. Then I use the hair dryer on low to treat wrinkles. Works famously with linen. It also worked with my silk outfit that has a print.
