Lol. I just got back from the grocery store and was going to get what I needed for beef and barley but got distracted by the farmed catfish. Decided to go with a catfish stew. I've been waiting for this video Tush. Looks awesome. Going to do this one next.

That looked absolutely mouth wateringly good on this cold, rainy night here in central Germany. We have a big chunk of beef in the freezer, so we're all set to make this soon, but first I have a couscous dinner with chicken legs and vegies for tomorrow and baked salmon for Friday. Soup would be great on Saturday and Sunday. Cook once, eat twice. Thanks David, always enjoy your recipes!

Very nice! I made the shepherds pie recipe from one of your previous videos for Val's day I think it was. It was tasty despite my burning it somewhat (I need to practice temperature regulation). My wife is a good sport so all was well.

(You can tell a professional chef from the rest of us) as when Tush “casually” dices up all the ingredients in lightning quick time, they all come out within a millimetre of each other! 😂🤣

Good morning Dave, - rather a wierd question today but, (if as in the U.K.) a quart equals two pints and in the U.K. it’s 8 pints to a gallon, why is it that ( in the U.S at least) a gallon is only about 6.5 pints? And what happened in history to make it different?
@cheftushАй бұрын
@@philtucker1224 good question. We use the metric system here so quarts, pints and gallons confuse me anyway. 😉

First snow today in Whitby. Thanks for the soup lesson. I was waiting for when the mig welder came into play. :) A food safety question from a woodworking teacher : I have assisted in the construction of innumerable end grain cutting boards. Part of the experience was to instruct my students to never cut raw poultry on a wooden cutting board. due to safety concerns. I have noticed that many internet pseudo chefs are doing just that. Raw poultry cut on a wooden cutting board. It was especially evident over the American Thanksgiving with turkey prep. What is a real Chef's opinion on this practice ? Was I being overly cautious ? Thanks for your Beef Barley Soup. I'm off to Sobeys for carrots, barley, beef broth and fresh herbs. If I see a Triumph TR 3 for sale in the parking lot I might pick that up too. Cheers and Thanks for all the motivation. (Actually if I discover a Morris Mini in the parking lot, I would be in real trouble. :) Cheers John
@cheftushАй бұрын
@@jafxdwg coming from the food service industry, I have never seen a wood cutting board in any of the kitchens that I have worked in…as a matter of fact, most kitchens that follow food safety guidelines will have dedicated, coloured boards for each group of items that you are processing, ie red for meat, yellow for poultry, green for vegetables etc. Having said all that, I believe wooden boards to be fine in the kitchen as long as they are properly cared for and maintained. Made from good quality wood with no cracks or deep crevices. Boards can be cleaned effectively with diluted bleach solution and regularly maintained with a rub down of mineral oil. Cheers, Tush
