Def possible! You just have to buy used/ be thrifty. It's just hard to do. I would say you def are well below the avg amount spent on these cars. Most people will end up spending more. If you dont have any parts laying around and are buying new and paying someone to tune, just the tune, tuner, and a cold air intake are basically 1k assuming you don't have any of that yet.

@@quixilver09 I have an S256RS on my car, it does pretty well for what it is. I have a pretty much full build done on mine, more for longevity reasons, given my right foot. I "should" be safe up into the low 700hp range,.. I'm in the mid to high 500's at the moment. The 256 is a great turbo though, I've been happy with it for the past 6 years or so. I did just look up its price though.. seems that they have gotten REALLY expensive.. maybe they don't produce them anymore?? Imo you can def do it cheaper than I mentioned im this video. You just have to scavenge for parts. If it's a beater, then going cheaper on some of the stuff might be okay. Just keep on mind the less you spend, typically the less reliable it is gonna be. Just don't forget about all the little stuff that nickels and dimes you!

I have no idea what the srt4 I recently purchased makes, but I can say this the guy I bought it from did not take care of this car. It needs work but watching this video has restored my faith, but it needs a new clutch and flywheel and throw out bearing. If there are any brands you can reccomend, I would appreciate it.
@NoTraction
@NoTraction 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah sadly sometimes these things arent well upkept because of their price point. Stock clutch will be fine typically if it's relatively stock. But if not i'd stick name brand with that stuff because pulling a trans twice is not fun lol. Ask me how i know. Modern performance is a great site to look at options. Theyre super knowledgeable and have a lot of information on their site about specific parts if you click on them. They're avg-slightly above average prices, but you can start there and see if there are any sales on the parts you find elsewhere. I would just avoid cheaping out on the clutch itself, because i good clutch lasts wayyyy longer than a chinese knockoff

@@NoTraction yeah this guy put an act 6 puck clutch in all new hardware, but didnt out the old release bearing in to break the clutch in and then put the new one in. The rockers are completely rusted through. But that's what I was thinking about doing is just going back to a stock clutch. He hasn't nodded it very much. Just seems like a college kid who thought his car was just a toy to play with. I paid $3300 for the car and between parts and labor I have over $2000 in it and still have things to fix. It's sad really that people dont always appreciate what they have.
@NoTraction

Yeah i try to tell people to avoid stuff down around the 3k mark for that reason, unless you like tinkering. I like working on my stuff in winter/spring and driving during the summer/fall. I HATE working on my stuff during the cruising season but that's life sometimes. But yeah that's dumb. I think a throwing out bearing is like $50/60? Dumb to spend all that time/$ and not spend the extra $ to do it right. Glad to see someone bringing one back though! I think the prices of these will go up here in 10 years or so, you already see it in 80s and now 90s cars. Not sure how rusty it is, but rust can be fixed too! They also make decent fun dailys for the price too if the rust is something you're not worried about. My friend drove his through winters while he had, just need winter tires for better traction. His was def a beater, but i always envied having a fun car out in the winter

526hp 3500 cash spent, block was the only thing built, I didn't lay a finger in the build. 626 turbo 3 bar map stage 3 cams, cam gears, bigger intake valves, lifters, arp bolted down, bigger injectors, arp manifold, 500 dollar intercooler, stage 3 axles, stage 3 clutch, cox racing k frame welded to engine motor mount top of the line parts no bs, somehow stayed under 3500 and I paid my mechanics around 1000 or less
@NoTraction
@NoTraction 3 жыл бұрын
I would say you got one hell of a deal on labor then! 3500 for the block, accessories, or all together? No matter how you split it, not bad at all though. But yeah you can do it cheaper than what I had stated in this video, I would say having that much done and being all in at 4500 is extremely rare though, especially for labor, and for that power level.

@erichiesha4070 5 ай бұрын
Not $3500 was just for the head pretty much for all the parts I spent as I mentioned. The block was built by the previous owner it already had a strap kit and carillo pistons and rods so the block already had about another $3000 into it

Dont look down at your car so much, or get a lapelle mic, cause its messing with your audio. And during a speech, rule of thumb is, dont look back at your visual aid unless you're referring the audience to something specific on it. A proper stock turbo setup on E85 with a good tune and supporting mods will run you far less than this and put you in the 350HP range. Big turbo is not always better, the stock TD04 is capable of great power and is much more responsive than most "big" turbo setups.
@NoTraction
@NoTraction 5 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think you'd need a few supporting mods for 350 with e85, but it is a cheaper route! Plus e85 is becoming easier and easier to find. But is 350hp enough🤷‍♂️ I used to think it was but it kind of becomes an addiction with diminishing returns lol
@TheGuyFromWI
@TheGuyFromWI 5 жыл бұрын
@@NoTraction Definitely! I suppose it depends what you want from the car. I run the Mopar stage 3 setup on E85 and its a monster on the street. Super reliable, amazing power, and with the right tires (Toyo R888) and boost by gear 0 traction issues. I been in a number of SRT's with bigger turbo setups than the stage 3 and takes the car out of its sweet spot IMO.
@NoTraction
@NoTraction 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheGuyFromWI Agreed! My only regret going with a big turbo is missing the instant boost you get down low on a stocker. That, and the fact that if I ever auto crossed the thr car I would just spin tires and have to keep it at 4k rpm to stay in the powerband lol
@hiddengemeatery2910
@hiddengemeatery2910 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheGuyFromWI how you like the tires? My stage 3 will be here this week. It makes around 430hp so with winter here in colorado trying to find a set of winters but I need a really good set of summer tires that are good for street.
@TheGuyFromWI
@TheGuyFromWI 5 жыл бұрын
@@hiddengemeatery2910 Honestly I am super impressed by the R888s if you are running the stock wheels IMO they are the best option available due to size limitations. If you have aftermarket wheels that opens up lots of other options for sticky tires. I have very limited driving in the rain but they did just fine. Once the temp drops they are like any other R compond tire, but for summer though late fall in WI they did amazing and the tread wear was better than I expected. Very happy. I have full traction in second gear with boost by gear set around 18 PSI on S3. I think I could go up to ~20 and still have traction. No spin at 26PSI in 3rd.

I’m Assuming you have a clutch, pump and injectors 3 bar map and tip since your tuned on e85. You can pick up a used kit anywhere from 1000-1500. New your looking at 2k +. A few years ago I picked up a low mileage agp kit for 1300. Also factor in your going to need a return line possibly bigger injectors and a new tune.

Stock map and tip is a 2.25 bar. Stage 2 and 3 , came with 3 bar sensors (Mopar) You can run these sensors, they will plug directly into the factory connections, however.. you will need a custom tune to use them on non Stg 2 or 3 ECMs. So, factor in the tuning device, cost of senors,.. someone do the the "scale" for you.. and if your going to push it that much harder, the stock injectors cant keep up with anything when it gets cold..., unless you lower the boost. Which, a completely stock SRT shoots for a "specific output" given its known input. It's target is a torque lookup table.

Basically everything is name brand. I wouldn't skimp on major stuff, i.e. turbo, wastegate, bov, etc. Other stuff you can get away with, mainly cuz sometimes offbrand stuff works just as well.
