Both awesome rides but id take the 442 if I had to choose one. Always thought the Buick GS/GSX and Oldsmobile 442 were the best looking of the 1970-72 GM A-Bodies and also more rare than the Chevelle SS and GTO. And the 70 442 W-30 is probably my favorite Oldsmobile ever made. I always liked the 66-67 and 68-69 Chevelle SS body style better than the 70-72. I'd take a 69 Chevelle COPO 427 over any other Chevelle...even a 70 LS6

Not totally true! I still have my 1970 L34. I still have the best time slip in the quarter at 13.86 104mph. But was never able to hit that again. I'm a terrible driver. What, i have been around some cool cars along my journey and being a Pontiac guy for years those 396 cars gave me fits. My dad had a bone stock 69 Judge ra 3 and 4spd, i raced it and cruised looking for prey, the 396 was the only engine the could outrun me on the top end floor. 428 ford, 351 clevland, 440 6 pack, w30 and amx 390 among others lost repeatedly at the muscle car national back in 1989. So much depended on traction, todays tires are leaps and bounds better for strong holeshots
@MrSteve2803 жыл бұрын
@@matthewblank214 Engines required proper tuning and gearing back then. Polyglas tires, tall rear ends, and being limited to 3-4 speeds didn't suit engines like RA3s (I had a '68 RA Firebird at one point). I've been in cars with all of the engines you mentioned including Hemis and there were dogs and there were runners. Although I never owned one, I was always impressed with the '68-'71 340 Mopars in regards to consistency.
