It depends if the 70 challenger was a real 426 car! Or 69 Camaro was a real 427 car!?

If it was back to back, I wonder if the Trans Am's fuel lines were getting hot (causes out of carb tune) causing it to get slower every pass

I like both, however I've always been a Buick guy. Does Buicks are some of the most underrated cars. Also even though the compression went down the 71455 had plenty of power.

Why does a race involving a 340 Chrysler product always seem to end up being a race with an L78 Chevrolet? Maybe I keep watching the same video without realizing it.

Not too many folk realize the 455 Buford weighed only 100 lbs more than a small block Chevy.

I could do without the appearance package as I prefer sleepers, but who would NOT want 510 lb ft @ 2800? What a beast.

RA IV was the top option in the factory order sheet, but.... you could order the parts to make it a Ram Air V. Seen a couple actual accurate GTO's with the Ram Air V conversion it is a lot more rowdy than the IV. Sure Chrysler dealers had similar over the counter upgraded parts with their Rapid Transit System marketing and promotions. Both cars really strong and setup really well . HEMI left with the sweep and did what Hemi's do. Both cars represented themselves well.

My uncle had a blue 70 Torino, the other uncle had a copper green 4 door and it looked weird. We were the odd people on the block, my dad drove a 1970 Volvo wagon 2.0litre that was goldish yellow and he never liked the American cars that never started when it was wet out. My freind Jim had a cream Torino in HS that an old man gave his sister who didn't drive, but he hes pissed off that he SOLD it to pay for University.

I remember looking at both of these new. I grew up nine miles from Yenko Chevrolet and drove owned or rode in I would say just about every muscle car ever built. I was in my twenties in the 1960's. First time at the drag strip was in 1965. Lots of Corvettes in the family. My oldest sister Bought new three. A 1965, with a 365 HP 327. A 1967 with a 350HP 327. And the one in her garage now. a 1970 350 automatic. She at eighty years old occasionally still drives it.

I had a 62 Bonneville with 389 4-barrel and 4-speed automatic. It was a land yacht, but very cool, very comfortable, and it had pretty good power.

My beloved Dad was a used car dealer that also owned a Texaco gas station and repair shop in Larchmont NY. In 1970 I was a senior in high school when my Dad acquired a 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport that needed some work. It was a dark forest green convertible with a snow white convertible top and white interior. Absolutely beautiful! I begged my Dad to sell it to me which he did as I worked for him after school and on the weekends, and was a real asset to his business. What I didn't know at the time was how rare the car was being a convertible GS with a factory 4-speed. The 401 motor was suffering from pushrod and lifter problems as the previous owner ran the hell out of it. We did an upper-end job on the motor replacing all the lifters, pushrods, rocker arms as well as installing a mild cam. Additionally, we sent the heads out for a competition valve job, put on a fresh Carter AFB carburetor, and installed a new clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing. The car flew, even with the outdated nail-head 401, the only engine available in 1965. I drove it to high school on the first day of my senior year in 1970. I was the king! The guys flipped and the girls loved it. Not only was the car fast but it was gorgeous with a perfect body and immaculate interior. Being in the automotive business my whole life I eventually had faster cars but in my mind nothing compares to that Gran Sport convertible!

My brother and me bought a 68 Olds Cutlass with a Buick 455 engine in it. It was a 1970 engine. We built it back to stock. We did upgrade the carb to a 780 vacuum secondary. Of course it was used and I rebuilt it. We added Lakewood ladderbars for traction. A set of M&H's. The rear gear was a 3:36 one wheel thrill. We ran the best of a 13.56 @ 103 mph. That car was one helluva beast back in the late 80's/ early 90's. Nobody could ever out 60 foot us. Sure we lost a few races...but we won WAY more races than we lost.

I owned a 1965 GOAT and I had both The 4 Barrel and 3 Deuce Manifold. Back then it took approximately 30 to 45 minutes to swap manifolds. Biggest screw up I made was selling it. (I need a Mental Health Evaluation now)
