I been daily driving a 04 overland 18 years now.. and only had to do small mateniance. Been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Do my own oil changes easy to work on. Never left me stranded ever. One check engine light in 18 freaking year's. And that was back in 2008.

I've put 110k miles on mine. Had to replace the from bag valves as they were leaking (39.99), two thermostats and the oil pressure sensor. All in all, I have definitely gotten my value out of this Jeep. Going to drive it until it dies.

Thank you for taking the time to candidly share your personal experiences and detailed product knowledge of the Jeep Grand Cherokee! Watching this video was like being able to talk to a close friend who has owned one of these for years. I've got tons of experience with Ford F-150 4x4 trucks, but am getting ready to go to auction and have been considering the 2011 Overland edition that will be there. I'm much better prepared to be even more conservative with my approach knowing the things you've shared. This confirms some of my suspicions about transfer case, 4x4, and suspension based on snippets posted online in forums.

If you are going to buy a 2012 i would avoid all models except the laredo model with the 5.7 hemi or 3.6 Air suspension in the other models is very costly when it breaks. The only issues i've had is the radiator, water pump, alternator, All are wear items and are easily fixed by an average DIY person. Avoid the 2011, the 2015 had the transmission shifter issue

Always enjoy an honest review of anything, I just bought a 2012 Overland Summit w/only 67k miles on it, orig owner no accidents and it drives and handles like a dream. It's a 4x2 w/ the V6 and had an 03 GC laredo w/over 200,000k on her. But the Jeeps in general come w/their own share of issues., ie electrical amongst them. But all the extras this edition provides is just amazing. One question, if the engine light remains on and points to thermostat yet engine temp solidly between 190-200 deg/is it possible that a sensor is at root vs thermostat needing replacing?

It’s possible but i feel as if it would just read the sensor being out.

Just sold mine same year and trim overland same interior color 125k miles Had it for over two years and things just started messing up like the front transfer case it was clunking. Suspension would sag on one side over night, motor mounts were no good, rear view camera stopped working along with parking assist and blind spot detector, tires needed to be replaced, sometimes I would have to try to start it and had to try about times and finally started. I felt like it was just gonna break down at any point. So I took it to the nearest dealer and sold it For almost the same price I bought it for. 😆 exterior looked In great condition! I really think I dodged a bullet there.

Thank you for your review on the vehicle. I'm looking at a 2012 overland with a V6 and has 171k miles. It's selling for 14k. I checked the carfax report and the only thing that stuck out was the a recall that was serviced, but other than that nothing other than standard maintenance. Do you think it's a good buy? Would those electrical and air suspension issues show up?
@CarsCouches
@CarsCouches 3 жыл бұрын
I would stay away from that. A lot a miles for a penstar V6 in my opinion. I bet it will have plenty of other issues too in the next few years if you buy it. As I said in the video, unless you can get that lifetime bumper to bumper I’d stay away from it. Good luck with your search!

Please anyone I have a question. I bought a Jeep Cherokee overland months ago and now I have air suspension/ compresser issues. After reading comments I think I’ve had this issue since day 1. I have this same model. The warranty expired. I fell in love with the saddle interior. I have two more years left on it. Then I own it. i will never buy another one though. Its great in the snow. These are the problems. I had with mine over the years.1 The push button starter went. 2 The radiator cracked leaking fluid. 3 The air suspension went. 4 The upper radiator hose needed to be replaced. Apparently the belt and hose are so close to each other. The belt kept sliceing into the hose createing a hole in it. 4 Now this last on. I did not get fixed yet. Due to the cost. The evaporated that controls the left and right side.

Dealership or private sale? If it’s a dealer you might still be able to get a bumper to bumper warranty on it. But for a 10 year old car with that many miles i’d say you have a 60/40 percent chance of having issues, 40% being having issues and 60% no issues.

I’m not an expert on the 3.0crd but I thought I heard they had plenty of issues, I’d double check the forums on those. Another question for those knowledgeable an have had 1, I'm looking at a 2012 JC limited 5.7 HEMI V8 with 2 owners for 18000, I searched the VIN an didn't pop any recalls, so I'm thinking they've all been performed, you think it's a good deal??

I sold the one in the video with 71k miles for $17k over two years ago. So 18k seems steep unless prices have really gone up that much, if they have then it’s a good car at lower milage.

Biggest piece of crap I’ve ever owned!!!!! 5 months after driving it brand new off the lot. Check engine light. Freakin head had to be replaced. Recall well it took 3 months to get it back because they didn’t have enough parts for the rest of us suckers with the same problem. I can’t tell you the amount of other recalls this car has had. Now some of you will say “at least they stick by it and fix it” BS its junk when you have recall after recall it’s junk!!!! Now let’s talk oil filter oil cooler housing. Junk!!!!! Now at 92000 miles it’s got the notorious rocker arm tick. Hopefully the cams aren’t shot. So here in a few weeks I’m gonna pop the valve covers off and replace the rocker arms. If the cams are screwed than the rocker arms are going in and the car is going to Carmax. I’ll take my 6500 or whatever they give me. Sorry for the rant. Bottom line the Grand Cherokee is a piece of garbage. It was the worst purchase I’ve ever made. Friggin piece of garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn’t buy anything with a sound it’s not supposed to have. Keep searching, you risk having issues with this car.

When Jeep try's to be something that their not, (A Range Rover Wanna Be) that's when things can go bad. There's nothing wrong with having extra features and gadgets, but it's not necessary on every vehicle. Even in today's time Jeep just needs to stick with what they know.

You are driving in the freeway, you should not make a video while driving, you look at the camera, your hands not on the steering wheel, very dangerous for other drivers.

Good info...but GODDAMN I hate it when you beg me to subscribe at the beginning of a video! I don't even know if you're worth watching at that point. Why don't people get that?

I added that with time didn’t use to do it. But the reasoning is because there are some people that watch all the videos but are not subbed. So it’s just a reminder to them, it’s crazy like 80% of returning viewers aren’t subbed.
