@@laknirala8248 We have the Outlander. We've had it for 2-3 years now. It's been great for our family, and we've put a lot of miles on it (>70k) in that short time. The trunk space is even large enough to carry around our sons wheelchair and/or his rolling cart. At the moment, both are in the trunk with room to spare. The backseat is also wide enough to fit his large handicap chair, and two more kids, including one in a regular car seat. Overall, we couldn't ask for more from this vehicle. It's a smooth ride, the leather cleans up nicely and in general, it's just been a good family vehicle for us.

Grouping the Outlander in this segment is a bit unfair as it is larger than all of its competitors. The only thing I dislike about my 2022 Outlander is the underpowered engine. Given it’s size, it should have a more powerful engine…maybe even a V6. But despite its size, fuel economy is still amazing, so there’s still a perk to the 2.5 inline-4

I think this guy is a bit harsh on the Outlander. I cross shopped it against the CX-5 and a few others mentioned in the video. The Outlander is the one I ended up going with. To me at least, the ride is nowhere near as rough as he makes it out to be and the ride was so much better than the other cars I tested. It also has amazing high beams with it’s active shadowing, which I don’t believe any of the others do. It’s my first ever brand new car and I cannot wait for my Outlander Exceed Tourer to arrive. There’s a reason these have such long wait times. Have to concede the gearbox and engine aren’t as good as it’s rivals though.

This guy has been tough on the outlander since the initial review, and his review skills are terrible. He is like a rejected super car driver. Where everything needs to accelerate like a v8 I have seen many other reviews of the outlander and they were respectable. The outlander is not meant to be a hot hatch and that is exactly how he drives it. Seems like he has a grudge. The outlander cvt is good and quiet, there were other people that reviewed just the cvt alone in cruising and casual driving. And the cvt is excellent. The phev outlander already came out In Japan and will be better than the fully petrol outlander.

I agree about Subaru being the easiest to drive. I've gone for the Outback over the Forester as it still has the best vision out of any SUV's that I have driven, it’s head/leg room is top class. The Outback has more modern tech compared to the Forester, it’s also longer which gives more boot space, and most of all, it has slightly bigger seats which give me more comfort for the long trips I do. But yeah, anyone looking for a mid sized SUV I'd recommend looking at the Subaru's for sure.

Researched this car segment for the last 2 months, my findings, - 5th gen forester rated #1 in safety and readability over all others including RAV, trial hawk, honda and bronco. That said, it has been a long road for Subaru from the CVT , oil consumption, head gasket issues of past generation vehicles. At 6'3, CR just announced the Forester is #1 with tall drivers as well, no surprise as the "green house" visibility is very attractive. All the safety dings can be disabled permanently, with the exception of engine on/off at stop. After market solution will solve that as well. So, I will be picking up my Subaru Forester Wilderness (gas, hybrid incremental benefits don't match cost) / pearl white next week. Comfortable driving on and off road, safety and readability, looks, honest service advisors that I have visited with during this time, all have pushed me this direction. And finally driving my daughters 2017 Forester premium, sold me on being a Subie owner. Suggested maintenance to ensure long life; 30k diff (F/R) service, 40k CVT Transmission service, and oil changes every 4k. Compared to the Outback, Off road analysis/videos show the turbo in the Outback gets totally in the way of performance when climbing, as the Forester's new gearing and software changes bring much more to the equation over the turbo, in my opinion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHfCe6edf5yUgbM No rock climbing, but adventuring, all day long... Being an old man in the UK, I've had the 2wd Sportage GT Line-S 1.6 petrol self-charging hybrid since March '22. It has a "normal" auto box and doesn't suffer the issues of dual clutch systems. I guess it's not an option in Australia which seems a shame. Driving mostly around town, we get 5.1 l/100km (46mpg) and the Mrs is pretty heavy footed. It also claims 0-100kph in 7.7 and I do enjoy the driving experience. Compared to the previous version Sportage it drives like a dream. It is built in Europe for European roads, so again, perhaps it differs significantly to the Aussie version.

don’t think that because the outlander scored low in this video that it’s a terrible car, it’s a pretty good family car (which is what a car like that should be). 3 rows, rear doors opening almost 90 digrees to get child seats in easier, been awarded the safest vehicle in crash safety and it has a lot of cool features like 8 or so driving modes and more. it has also been awarded the cheapest car to maintain which makes it great for families. hence the driving, i’ve never driven one but from other reviewers i’ve heard it doesn’t drive as bad as he makes it out in the video, the only problems everyone says is the cvt is lazy but that’s because it’s a nissan cvt and some say the outlander drives better than the rogue even though the rogue and the outlander share a platform. if i went suv shopping for my family the outlander would be pretty high in my list.

Why anyone would believe anything this bloke says during his "comprehensive" reviews is beyond me. Just last month this same bloke waxed lyrical about the ride, visibility and composure of the Kia Sportage during its debut review in Australia. In just one month, his assessment of the Sportage has tanked form "excellent" with a review rating of 8.5, to a vehicle that barely scraped home into third place behind the Subaru and the Hyundai. Check out his review of the Sportage published on November 26, 2021 and cross reference that review with what has been published in this review. Consistency is key and bolsters integrity when critiquing cars, or anything for that matter. His flip-flop assessment of the Sportage and the cringeworthy fawning over the Subaru suggests other factors at play here. Thank you Richard, another so-called "motoring journalist" whose "musings" should be taken with a grain of salt. For those interested - no, I don't own/drive a Kia Sportage or any SUV and am not a Kia employee or fan-boy.
@CraigWinstanley12 жыл бұрын
You are 100 % correct. No consistency whatsoever! On the 12 Nov, 2021 this ‘reviewer’ said about the Sportage (comparing the car to its rivals) “the best driving SUV in its class”. He rated Sportage 9 out of 10 for drive. Design 10 out of 10, interior and safety 9 out of 10. 8.5 overall.

I have the new Kia sportage G-T Line in turbo diesel (since November) and it's an amazing car! I always owned prestige/luxury cars prior and this feels on par with them, but better tech and value for money. Everything in the Sportage is so easy to navigate, it's roomy inside (I have two kids, one still in a booster seat) and we also bring our large dog along for drives, my Husband is a big build and has no problem in the front row. The car handles wonderfully and we've already taken it on two long trips, it overtakes with ease, has plenty of grunt, excellent fuel consumption and is smooth on the road. So far I can't fault anything especially after spending so much time driving it, the air-con is top notch too and cools the car down within seconds even on a 35° day! I never thought I'd own a Kia and I was initially sold on the design and ordered it prior to test driving it... But I have no regrets!

I've really enjoyed my 2018 Forrester, but someone turned left in front of my last month. Didn't even have a chance to touch the brakes. Spun him around and took out a fire hydrant before landing in a waterfall. The airbags were absolutely amazing. If it wasn't for the shock, panic and adrenaline, it would have actually been a fun experience. "Totally" soft and smooth landing. Left hand hit steering column and hurt for a while and small abrasion on left shin, and that is all. Going to my Subaru dealer soon, might check out Kia to keep my brother-in-law happy.

Richard, never mentioned the Subarus height advantage over the others. Also it is a proper full time AWD, with a good selection of which is better for moderate off road driving. The others are part time AWD, the AWD cuts out at over 60-70 Kms for the Sportage and Tucson on freeway driving. Yes as noisy as the Outlander however Subaru has got the CVT down to a pat. I own a 5 YO Hyundai diesel Tucson, My next SUV will def be a Subie out back or forrester, prob Outback as recently released 90% redesigned, Celt for the engine power of which I believe a turbo is in the wings.

Excellent, guys! I just bought a new 2022 Forester Premium after test driving it against a Hyundai Tuscon SEL. I didn't notice anything strange about the latter's double clutch or take off, but then again I was being respectful toward somebody else's brand-new, unbroken-in auto and drove it quite gingerly. I really didn't like that pretty much everything (controls) were located in the Tuscon's monitor, and much preferred that some controls were physical knobs in the Forester. I also appreciate the great visibility of the Forester, its more utilitarian vibe/feel, its tested all-wheel drive, huge moon roof, and excellent passenger roominess and cargo space when the rear seats are folded down. Yes, not a high-power engine, but definitely adequate and I'm not a fan of turbo-chargers that seem to accelerate the demise of your engine quicker than not having them installed.

Nailed it! We test drove the outlander and it was horrible on the road, the interior felt cheap and was gutless, didnt look at the hyundai or kia as they were overpriced for what they are! Ordered a premium forester and should have it in September, by far the best value for money and will out last the others by a long way, yes the tech is not as fancy, but in 10 years time if something brakes, its not going to cost an arm or a leg to replace it...

The Phev is in a different playing field than the petrol. Performce, long term reliable and fuel saving is much better. @djkenny12022 жыл бұрын
@@Retromansite Its still same 10 year 100k. You can either simply keep receipts from shops, or even your own DIY work (plugs, oil change, etc). It’s illegal to make someone go to the dealer for service. Some things I would never get done at the dealer. They charge 2-4 times more often than a reputable shop. Now, I would go for warranty claims, but not really Service.
@Retromansite2 жыл бұрын
@@djkenny1202 Mitsubishi’s Standard New Car Warranty is 5 year/100,000 km. You may also be eligible for an Extended New Car Warranty up to 10 year/200,000 km if you’ve had all scheduled services done through the authorised Mitsubishi Motors Dealer Network.(but you're under no compulsion to do that and therefore it's not illegal!) Factor in the first 5 services are only $199AUD each. Next 5 average $440AUD and gets you to year 10 or 150,000 km. If I was a car manufacturer offering a 10 year warranty I'd want to ensure I did the servicing too - not some random mechanic. IMHO that's a better deal than KIA are offering and why I've ordered an Outlander. Each to their own opinion though.
@djkenny12022 жыл бұрын
@@Retromansite if an oil change is more than $60,I will definitely not go to the dealer. In the USA we passed a law allowing owners to service their own cars with receipts or going to any reputable mechanic. With all cars. It IS compulsory if you need to go pay their higher prices for the same thing. These services are hardly Rocket Science.

Went with the Tucson Highlander N-Line Diesel. Easily the best looking in class, diesel is the best engine option (with no hybrid offering) and the features are all there. Kia Sportage GT Line diesel was a close second, but slightly less visually appealing (imo) and much longer wait times in Aus to get one were the deciding factors. The extra 2 years warranty was definitely appealing though.

While I respect everyone's right to their own opinion he clearly hates Mitsubishi. He gushes over the Subaru having a mud/snow setting and does not even mention the Mitsubishi has the same thing. In fact the Outlander has 7 settings including Hill Descent. I have owned a new 2022 Outlander SEL SAWC (US trim) for about 5 months now and it is a fantastic car. Could it use another 30-40 HP and is the CVT a bit loud on full throttle, yes. But drive it normally and it has more than enough power. In fact at 1/4 or 1/2 throttle it feels quite peppy. It is extremely solid, and the interior is high quality with no rattles, everything feels high quality and got cheap at all, the seats are comfortable and I love the quilted leather. The handling is very secure in the corners for a tallish SUV and does not feel ungainly. The ride while smooth and extremely comfortable is on the firm side, less so with the Front wheel drive model but I prefer a firm ride. And really ranking manuals??? I read them 1st thing when I buy a new car and the Outlander's covers everything you need to know. And did you take it out of nice black and red pouch they come in on purpose?

Test drove all these and couldn't agree at all with the review. Kia, Mitsubishi and Hyundai way ahead of the Suburu. Suburu was absolutely out of this class. No power, lack of features and interior poor. Other cars had more features, luxury/comfort inside and better drive with better power delivery. Shocking review and gave me nothing on my next car purchase apart from not wasting my time with Suburu.

While each vehicle may have strong and weak points, there are three that I'd point out in a Forester 1) great visibility from the interior, 2) extra comfortable suspension as it's a car thought for light trail as well, and 3) the awd system (available from the base trim as well). These three features make the Forester different from the rest.

Thanks for the review. We were tossing up between replacing our current Forester 2.5i-S with either another Subi or a Tuscon. RAV4 is a 12 month wait and it’s not the bees knees in hybrid form. Your review confirmed our thoughts…. So I ordered another Forester 2.5i-S today. Everything you said about the Subi is on the money. Compliant drive, easy handling, quiet, efficient, safety tech is spot on and whilst it’s not the prettiest car on the road, it’s roomy. Suits us for what we want in a second car that’s mostly used as a mums taxi!!!

I never considered the MIT or SUB. For me it came down to the TUS and SPT. I think the Sportage design interior is definitely the best. Whereas the Tucson’s exterior looks better to me when compared to the Sportage. I just don’t like the back of the Sportage it kinda reminds me of a mini van look trying to look sporty but didn’t quite get it right. The Tuscon interior is still pretty nice so I settled on the Tuscon. Also the ride is pretty good it easily puts a 7month old and 3 yr old to sleep very quickly. 😅

Gets my vote for best review in 2021. Honest words & feelings about each. I'd buy a Subaru hands down if it was not for the CVT. Richard, please do the same type of review RE: Large SUV
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't find the Outlander seats to be comfortable in this trim. I just couldn't find a sweet spot when adjusting the seat. Oddly, the suede looking ones were more comfortable. Even more odd, I found that the dark color leather seats are more comfortable than the white leather seats in the Outlander. That may just be me because I can't explain how just the change in color could result in a more comfortable seat.
