Having owned a couple of German cars, I can tell you that the other two will be in the shop..a lot. The Mazda is sportier and because it has a proper automatic, you’re not going to burn out the clutches and suffer stuttering and jerkiness in traffic, like you will in the other two. It’s also 10% cheaper than the Poverty Pack specials from Audi and Volvo, and let’s face it, if you want decent spec, you’re going to be paying an extra $10K to $15K more than the Mazda, and a lot more for parts and service. And by the way, touch screens are no good in the bumps, don’t work well when they’re hot and have been in the sun, and leave grubby finger prints all over them. The Mazda is simply better made, more reliable, more affordable and performs better, plus it will have better resale value after four years.

German maintenance is expensive and with a DCT you get the same problems that Hyundai and Kia has, you can't creep when stuck in traffic becuase the constant engage and disengage of the clutch will just well wear it out. And thats money. I'd take a CVT over a dual clutch.

I felt like this was really biased review, when reviewing the Mazda there was more nit picky / personal complaints in the review compared to factual complaints for the general consumer. I understand everyone has there own taste to what they like and whats worth more for value. It’s amazing for the price point how much the Audi lacked in safety tech, safety in cars have become increasingly important and is now even becoming more standardised in budget friendly vehicles. This is only my opinion and what i thought.

Using the rotary isn't annoying at all - in fact it's the most ergonomic and safest way to interact with the system. I wouldn't prefer to hold my whole arm in the air to use the touchscreen, when I just could quickly interact from the arm rest instead.

Drove both Mazda and Volvo and I gotta give the sportier feel and better handling of the Mazda serious props. The Turbo version makes the CX30 just that much better too. Between all that and the significant lower upfront cost, lower cost of fuel (premium vs regular), lower insurance costs, lower upkeep costs etc... I think Mazda wins this for me.

Unbiased review , he says mazda seem like they didn't know to finish the interior because you can see a usb hole (which they litterally zoomed in , you can't really see it when you are sitting in the car) but then it's not a problem anymore for the volvo when it's even more in sight 🤣

The problem with the luxury brands, or at least one of them, is the never ending list of options. You're paying $10,000 to $12,000 more for the Audi and Volvo respectively, that is just highway robbery, in my humble opinion.

It would help if your reviewer was unbiased. Hit the middle of the video where people will move on and the overwhelming negativity starts to ease. The fact you don’t know that Mazda deliberately don’t have a touchscreen to help drivers concentrate on actually driving seems to have evaded your prep work. This is shared with BMW who offer options for interaction that are broad and driver awareness focussed. My favourite is the Audi but the Mazda is a great car undeserving of so much negativity.

Why are reviewers and people obsessed with touch screens ? I have a touch screen in my car and it's full of greasy burger finger prints, hand lotion smudges, sticky sugary drips, saliva spots, potato chip oil Covering all over its surface. The screen gets all scratched offer frequent wipping and cleaning. I applause Mazda for making the info screen a no-touch surface! There's built in voice command and steering wheel controls. At no time anyone needs to lean over and touch the screen. Learn how to use those functions.

I almost had the feeling that the reviewer wanted to find more fault with the Mazda. I'm a bit biased as just about to change to a CX30! Overall the Mazda will be more reliable as it's Japanese. The European makers just can't match the Japanese makers. Good review though.

I changed from Audi to Mazda after my Audi lease is about to end. Gotta say, overall, I don't mind sacrificing a bit of the "luxurious" comfort to save $20k USD. The Mazda has all the safety features and some more features (leather seats, Android play) that I was looking for, and the driving experience was not bad at all for city driving. I didn't get to drive above 80mph on the highway during my test drive because that's when the traction and steering control usually will show differences between an Audi and a more affordable car, but for the amount of in-city driving I did, Mazda did its job nicely.

Yep, having a reliable car and knowing that when something breaks it doesn't suddenly surprise you with a 1000$ receipt is good enough for me. I live in Poland and people here still buy german cars being somehow sure of their "superiority" against japanese brands even when they go about replacing the turbo and clutch after 3 years.

The results of this test provided no surprises at all for me. Well, thats not exactly true...the fact a crossover version of a compact car from a non-premium/luxury manufacturer can be compared to the most similar offerings from Audi and Volvo and not completely be outclassed has to say something. It either means Mazda is learning how to do premium at a non-premium price point, or the so-called premium makes are slipping up. I think its the former, and thats pretty remarkable.

I consider the Mazda to be more comfortable. I have had my XC40 for almost two years and recently test drove the CX30 and the seats and armrests were so much softer and it had a heads up display too! If they took away the badges, then I would have chosen the CX30 to be the more expensive one. It offers about 90% of the Volvo but much less money so I will find myself "downgrading" - a year's payments on my Volvo is that of two on the Mazda (lease) and the Mazda has more power too! (250 Horsepower).

This was an awesome review, thank you! I had an Audi A5 for several years and it was my favorite car I’ve ever owned. But after I got it up to 125,000 miles I had to get rid of it last year, and I decided to try a Mazda cx-30. I’ve never owned a Mazda prior, but I really have admired several models over the years. When I went to test drive the cx-30 I was impressed with the comfort of the drivers seat.. the interior had a similar feel to my Audi A5 behind the wheel. The handling, acceleration and quietness seemed very comparable. My Audi was a premium plus, and my Mazda is Premium. This cx-30 has more bells & whistles, but it is 9 yrs newer. Now when I 1st start my car, it is much louder than the Audi until it warms up for a minute, then the rpm’s decrease and it quiets down.. Never had that with my Audi and prior BMW’s.. But ultimately, I find that I appreciate how much bang for the buck Ive been getting out of my1st Mazda, the cx-30.

I have used the Mazda CX-30 console screen functions and they are extremely well thought out. With all safety concerns considered so as to keep any risk to a minimum. Nowadays, touch screens are installed in vehicles because “the sheeple” demand it, without thought or consequence of using them safely. You forgot to mention Mazda CX30 compared to the other two is actually smaller by 1.5 inch to 3 inches. So the rear seats is obviously less space, Mazda is 173.1 inch, Volvo is 174.6 inches Q3 is 176.6 inches. But one thing you have to consider about Audi is that everything is considered an option....LED lights, blindspot etc are options....Audi top trim is like $50K vs mazda $33K....

I see one big issue with this comparison, Mazda CX-5 should have been used, not CX-30. CX-5 is a lot closer in size and price to the other 2 vehicles, so it was kind of pointless. Mazda always makes it's vehicles bigger than the competition. This comparison was like comparing the Mazda 6 to Mercedes Benz S class, pretty absurd from all aspects.

Whilst Mazda may be claiming to be moving upmarket it would only be to premium (or sub premium) and not luxury so this comparison is pointless. Considering how much you rubbished things on the Mazda I would suggest a score of equal second is overly generous.

Waste of time reviewing sedan car like Toyota Corolla which is boring that uses old technologies to achieve the reliability needed . Japanese engineers are not brave enough to modernise new technologies in their present line up. What a shame just to achieve that boring reliability especially the boring Toyota brand.

@@konsen6149 Millions of people have continued to choose the Corrolla over other brands even though others have the tech and people specifically in 3rd World Countries are still doing so. Reliability, Good resale value, low fuel usage is what most people look for and that's why so many families choose and will always choose the Corolla. Toyota is brave they have introduced alot of tech in the 2020 Corolla model but only time will tell if reliability holds up So that's the question that has to be answered in due time. My concerns now are that the Corolla is moving towards tech thus its price will sky rocket and therefore it will move away from being the "people's choice" 💔

That why Corolla is only meant for third world countries where their population breed like rabbits. They don't know much about car technology which Toyota is famous for using old technology and pretty much concerned about repayment loan. The cheaper the better whereby Corolla is a cheap affordable car to get around . They do not mind about lack of safety , comfort and boredom. Most first world buyers would not buy a Corolla simply because Corolla keeps using old technology over and over again which is nothing good to shout about.

Another component of these reviews that is completely ridiculous is the fact that they don't mention 1 word about maybe the most important aspect of a car, it's reliability. For instance in this test there is no mention of the fact that the VOLVO infotainment has been plagued with problems since it's inception...why? Also Volvo and Audi's have very unreliable histories and will undoubtedly spend more time in the shop.
@redReiRei
@redReiRei 4 жыл бұрын
XC60 and XC90 are very spotty, but I haven't heard that many issues with the XC40. I had more issues with the CX-5, so it's not like Mazda is the bastion of reliability. Just because it's Japanese doesn't mean it's going to be reliable, exception being Toyoto, Honda or Suzuki which are not build with the latest of fancy tech that has a chance to go haywire. Also a lot of people generalise a brand without factoring in the categories, so you get "car A has worse reliability because car G was unreliable". For example there's quite a few reliable Mercedes and BMW models that won't break after 50,000 km or cost a leg and an arm to fix
