Having owned a couple of German cars, I can tell you that the other two will be in the shop..a lot. The Mazda is sportier and because it has a proper automatic, you’re not going to burn out the clutches and suffer stuttering and jerkiness in traffic, like you will in the other two. It’s also 10% cheaper than the Poverty Pack specials from Audi and Volvo, and let’s face it, if you want decent spec, you’re going to be paying an extra $10K to $15K more than the Mazda, and a lot more for parts and service. And by the way, touch screens are no good in the bumps, don’t work well when they’re hot and have been in the sun, and leave grubby finger prints all over them. The Mazda is simply better made, more reliable, more affordable and performs better, plus it will have better resale value after four years.
@441meatloaf4 жыл бұрын
German maintenance is expensive and with a DCT you get the same problems that Hyundai and Kia has, you can't creep when stuck in traffic becuase the constant engage and disengage of the clutch will just well wear it out. And thats money. I'd take a CVT over a dual clutch.

I felt like this was really biased review, when reviewing the Mazda there was more nit picky / personal complaints in the review compared to factual complaints for the general consumer. I understand everyone has there own taste to what they like and whats worth more for value. It’s amazing for the price point how much the Audi lacked in safety tech, safety in cars have become increasingly important and is now even becoming more standardised in budget friendly vehicles. This is only my opinion and what i thought.

Drove both Mazda and Volvo and I gotta give the sportier feel and better handling of the Mazda serious props. The Turbo version makes the CX30 just that much better too. Between all that and the significant lower upfront cost, lower cost of fuel (premium vs regular), lower insurance costs, lower upkeep costs etc... I think Mazda wins this for me.

I have a touch screen in my car and it's full of greasy burger finger prints, hand lotion smudges, sticky sugary drips, saliva spots, potato chip oil Covering all over its surface. I almost had the feeling that the reviewer wanted to find more fault with the Mazda. I'm a bit biased as just about to change to a CX30! Overall the Mazda will be more reliable as it's Japanese. The European makers just can't match the Japanese makers. Good review though.

I changed from Audi to Mazda after my Audi lease is about to end. Gotta say, overall, I don't mind sacrificing a bit of the "luxurious" comfort to save $20k USD. The Mazda has all the safety features and some more features (leather seats, Android play) that I was looking for, and the driving experience was not bad at all for city driving. I didn't get to drive above 80mph on the highway during my test drive because that's when the traction and steering control usually will show differences between an Audi and a more affordable car, but for the amount of in-city driving I did, Mazda did its job nicely.

The results of this test provided no surprises at all for me. Well, thats not exactly true...the fact a crossover version of a compact car from a non-premium/luxury manufacturer can be compared to the most similar offerings from Audi and Volvo and not completely be outclassed has to say something. But after I got it up to 125,000 miles I had to get rid of it last year, and I decided to try a Mazda cx-30. I’ve never owned a Mazda prior, but I really have admired several models over the years. When I went to test drive the cx-30 I was impressed with the comfort of the drivers seat.. the interior had a similar feel to my Audi A5 behind the wheel. The handling, acceleration and quietness seemed very comparable. My Audi was a premium plus, and my Mazda is Premium. This cx-30 has more bells & whistles, but it is 9 yrs newer. Now when I 1st start my car, it is much louder than the Audi until it warms up for a minute, then the rpm’s decrease and it quiets down.. Never had that with my Audi and prior BMW’s.. But ultimately, I find that I appreciate how much bang for the buck Ive been getting out of my1st Mazda, the cx-30.

Providing a good homes for families, I totally support as it aspired us to work harder. But considering having a Toyota for its reliability it makes me pondered into agreeing with you. I heard of Takata , unintended acceleration and other safety features/ body structure issues that remained some big questions thinking of owning a Corolla. Cheers

Car reviewers never mention reliability, where Mazdas absolutely ruin the European brands.
@ClaudioAguileraMunoz Жыл бұрын
totally agree. If they mention reliability then it's a no contest. Mazda / Subaru absolutely destroy Audi / BMW / Mercedes / Volvo in reliability

don't agree, had volvo T4 and the ride was on R DESIGN almost as firm as the mazda (perhaps slightly more compliant with some harsh roads but marginaly), seat cushion soft on both ,but where the mazda was far more refined is the silence on board, including from the engine, more subdued, not to mention the smoothest automatic gear on the mazda which contributes to the overall refinement

Another component of these reviews that is completely ridiculous is the fact that they don't mention 1 word about maybe the most important aspect of a car, it's reliability. For instance in this test there is no mention of the fact that the VOLVO infotainment has been plagued with problems since it's inception...why? Also Volvo and Audi's have very unreliable histories and will undoubtedly spend more time in the shop.
@redReiRei4 жыл бұрын
XC60 and XC90 are very spotty, but I haven't heard that many issues with the XC40. I had more issues with the CX-5, so it's not like Mazda is the bastion of reliability. Just because it's Japanese doesn't mean it's going to be reliable, exception being Toyoto, Honda or Suzuki which are not build with the latest of fancy tech that has a chance to go haywire. Also a lot of people generalise a brand without factoring in the categories, so you get "car A has worse reliability because car G was unreliable". For example there's quite a few reliable Mercedes and BMW models that won't break after 50,000 km or cost a leg and an arm to fix

Let me get this straight, you are saying the volvo and Audi are better/same? let me check the price Mazda 34.000 Euro full Equipment (Sky X) Audi price 47.000 Euro (To get the same Equipment) Volvo price 47500 (to get the same Equpiment) But in my Case i get the Cheaper Version Mazda Comfort+ plus Sky G for about 27.800 I am Saving arround 18.000! i just bought a new cx-30 (basic equipment, g122 petrol, polymetal color; europe) for 21.000euro. it has everything you need.. it only lacks parking camera, 18'alloys and automatic climate control (for which i don't care because i prefer manual).

Great idea to have lots of passengers when testing the cars. That uncovers any under-powered issues.

Its underpowered probably because of the transmission...DCT requiers time to engage clutch hence you will have slow starts. Same kinda deal with Hyundai and Kia cars that uses DCT.
