I recently bought an xc40 inscription , and am very pleased and satisfied with it, though pretty expensive. The problem is that, as with all cars, it very quickly becomes simply ‘the car’, and as a result one becomes blind to its advantages. I do not regret buying it.

Range Rover looks much more upmarket than the others, I'm surprised it's equivalent on price. The Q3 looks very clinical, but that is typical Audi and not necessarily a bad thing. XC40 looks like a much cheaper car, but at least they've made the styling quite unique.

I am sure if you do a search on KZbin you will see plenty of owners detail the issues with their Land Rover cars. I personally haven't owned a LR car as my mechanic warned me off them as he has repaired plenty of them. Hey I understand the appeal as LR are beautiful cars but their reliability is the stuff of legend.

If you wanted an SUV then I think then Rangy is the best. If you want to bring the kids with you, the Volvo is by far the better choice.

Evoque....just another JLR product reflecting it's form over function philosophy, small boot, poor ergonomics, still questionable build quality and reliability. XC40 is a really 'nice' car, and probably much cheaper than a like for like Evoque. The Q3? No mention at all of the sliding rear seats in the review, probably the most versatile interior space. Very average review that was leaning towards the 'pretty' Evoque from the start.

Sa Mu still not comparing like for like. Watch Car Wow and you’ll see how same class vehicles can be compared, from price (which is a big difference here), features, year of last release/update etc.. this review is bias in my opinion. I’d still choose Audi, it and the Volvo have better reliability after sales than the range.

Whelming videos like this do not hide the fact JLR is haemorrhaging money and has a terrible reputation for reliability in some models. If it has to be premium SUV, get a Macan. Destroys these three, and pretty much everything else on stilts.

The Range Rover brand isn't for people too tight with money, so leasing rates and maintenance isn't cheap. It sits at the same level as Porsche imo, and higher than other mainstream premium brands. But Range Rover is about luxury, while Porsche is about sportiness. Also the Evoque is at least 30 cm shorter if not more. More comparable to a Macan is the Velar, which looks much better than the Evoque. If you buy or lease new, you aren't going to have much problems with JLR. But true is Porsche tops in quality. I agree the Macan accelerates and handles better than it's competitors, however if you go for comfort, luxury and elegance, the Velar is much better. The Macan also has small boot. If you drive sporty, that may cost you in fines in most developed countries, you will lose your license quickly and have high insurance rates. Range Rover's approach makes more sense. Maybe something like a AMG GLC Coupe, SQ5 or a X4M is a direct competition for the Macan.

I`ve just bought my 3rd Evoque. Never had an issue . If they are so bad, why have they the best residual values after 3 years. Evoque`s are not your over complicated high end range rovers.

Massive. In the order of the test. Evoque most expensive, and about £5k more than other 2, about £2k in between Volvo and Audi. Comparing Evoque in SE spec, Volvo in R-Design Pro and and Audi in S-Line. Residuals also mean Evoque nearly £400 per month more expensive than other 2

Volvo and Audi can’t even get close to the Evoque’s 4x4 capabilities. LR’s Transmission and suspensions feature a far superior and expensive design, on top of that the car is watertight up to 50/60 cm, maybe more. The Evoque’s disconnect system only is worth 1,500 euros. Why he’s missing to say that? On the engineering standpoint the Evoque’s is another league. And I might be wrong but I am not so sure Q3 and Volvo are made in Europe. LR is still made in UK.
