I am a big fan of the Signia and have watched a couple of your videos about it. The only point I will raise is that highway driving at 75 mph or above is going to cause a big decrease in fuel efficiency.

most brand new cars, very low milage, will give bad fuel economy until reaching 1000 miles, break-in and throttle adaptations take a while to happen.

I’ve got 1800 miles on my Signia Limited driving on north Dallas (flat) roads. About 70% of those miles are highway miles. Overall gas mileage has been steadily rising, currently at 39.4 mpg. I can’t stand the frequent driver distraction warnings. Brake pedal feel is a non-issue for me.

I watched a driving review (can't remember which one) that indicated the distraction warning system could be turned off. Someone correct me if this is wrong.

Great review. First time watching you. I’m test driving the Signia later today and this is helpful. As for mpg on the highway, once you pass 60/65, the air is like a concrete wall and mpg drops like a rock. I used to experience that with the EVs that I’ve owned (TESLA, KIA, Toyota). So, at 75mph+, it’s not surprising you only saw low 30s…

My opinion they should do a Platinum model with the I-force max engine, upgrade to 14 or more JBL Speakers. The Avalon had that system and it was outstanding. Heads up display is a must as well as power tilt/telescoping steering wheel. auto dimming drover ouitside mirror and a couple of more exterior color choices as well. All those listed would be great for a Platinum trim level. OR they could make it an option package on the LTD model. Nice touch is that it does have is the heated steering wheel heats up the whole wheel.

For the warnings, you can adjust how sensitive, and even turn some off…e.g., what distance you want it to use before warning to hit the brakes if there is a car stopped in front of you that you might hit.

Those aren't the warnings I am referring to. It all has to do with the Forward Attention Monitoring system.

I'd buy this with the Hybrid Max powertrain. I assumed it would offer it (on a Platinum trim perhaps, which doesn't exist on this car) so I was super bummed out when it was announced that the higher powered powertrain wasn't going to be available, and that there are no plans to change that.

I also agree with you that it would be nice to have a head-up display. I assumed it would and I got burned again. Also the lack of tinted windows is a drag. It seems like this vehicle is screaming for a Platinum trim, where we get the Hybrid Max powertrain along with a head-up display, tinted windows, auto-dimming side mirrors, and for crying out loud, 4-way lumbar! I'm also surprised that, with all their experience with hybrids, the brake feel isn't perfect!

The signia is classified as a wagon. Rear windows on wagons can't be tinted.

I test drove both Crown Signia models both in daytime and nighttime. Though I had been waiting for the Signia for two years since it was first announced, and I was the first person in my county to drive one, I have decided against it. There are five major negatives. 1. The price is too high. Here in California the price for the upscale model was $56,000. 2. The headlights are poor. There are only two headlights positioned where one would ordinarily see fog lights. The high beams worked fine. However the low beams, even adjusted to their maximum height via dashboard control, are seriously too low which I consider a safety issue. Toyota needs to change the headlights and make them more similar to the Crown sedan. 3. There is no spare tire and there was no room in the trunk area to put even a compact spare. If you drive much in the backcountry this is a genuine safety issue. 4. There is no conventional sunroof. On the top model you have a glass roof with a cheap looking sliding cloth cover. 5. To recharge the conventional battery used for starting the motor you have to put the cables in a box which also has computer chips. If there was a spark you could do serious damage to the car’s computer system and you would not be able to start it or drive it. In my opinion this is a serious design defect. On the good side visibility is excellent, the styling is excellent, and the seats are among the best you will find on Japanese cars. I found the horsepower was adequate and the transition between electric power and gasoline power was smooth and flawless. The ride is decent and there is very little wind noise at speed. It is a good vehicle but Toyota needs to upgrade the lighting, offer a spare, and reduce the price significantly. Regarding this video, it ranks among the many disappointing Toyota crown Signia reviews which are superficial and which do not mention some critical shortcomings in the car. I will not watch this channel again because I consider the reviewer biased and incompetent.

While I appreciate the feedback and detail comment, your opinions are highly subjective and not based on fact. 1. "The price is too high" - MSRP is $51k for a Limited. Nobody can really control dealer markups. Value is can be subjective based on many variables. 2. "headlights positioned where one would ordinarily see fog lights" - This is not true as that would be illegal. I found the headlight performance good, not amazing. Far from poor. 3. "There is no spare tire" - This is true for many vehicles these days. While I see your point in wanting it for rural travels, I myself don't consider this is huge deal because I don't often drive in rural areas nor have I had issues in the past. I have used a spare tire once and it was in a city where road side assistance would be available if needed. 4. "no conventional sunroof" - I would have preferred this also but it's not uncommon for fixed glass roofs. Toyota was nice enough to include a power shade where others do not. It's disappointing that you believe my video was superficial because I try to be as genuine as possible with my likes and dislikes. Just because your opinions don't align with mine doesn't mean I am "biased and incompetent".

@@CarsMadeSimple At night, with the headlights set for MAX height with the dashboard control, the low-beam headlight beam was so low that it did not even illuminate the license plate of a vehicle 3 car lengths ahead. The High beams were OK. But the low beam projected beam height was a deal-breaker and I have sent a report to Toyota engineers. Not reporting this and not talking about the issue of charging is irresponsible -- typical shallow review that does not cover key vehicle faults.

@@forumboss2620 Well, I have video of me at least 3 car lengths back from a 2007-2010 Focus sedan and it was actually slightly above the license plate. I have no idea what issue with charging you are talking about. It's a hybrid, the vehicle charges itself as there is no plug in.

@@CarsMadeSimple The Signia has a secondary 12-volt battery for starting/running some systems. It is inside the vehicle. To charge that small 12-volt battery (if it gets low) you must use a charging pole (positive post) positioned under the front hood on the right side. This post is in a plastic compartment also holding lines of computer chips. If somebody improperly attached the negative first then the positive, you can get a spark that could damage one or more of those chips which are very close. Please understand that I have been collecting information about the Signia (aka Crown Estate) in Japan, and was very eager to purchase. But these design flaws were deal-breakers, along with the price, given that sales tax and registration was over $5000 in CA.

As someone who likes luxury touches, I hate opening sunroofs as they are the most expensive repair item outside of a major drivetrain issue. Mechanics hate them too. An opening roof just runs counter to the concept of long term Toyota reliability. Initial sales numbers are poor and I see discounts already,. If this holds great discounts may be had in late 2025.
