Hey I really like the video, one thing I would say is to make separate videos describing proper canyon driving etiquette and make the review videos just driving. I definitely think more people need to be taught what you have to say about backroad safety! The beginning was a little difficult to listen to you talking without being curious about the the road and watching you drive it when the camera is on you, but then later with the camera outside and the mic in the car with you talking was much better! Super glad you're doing this with Project Miata btw I own a 1995 check out my channel and or my Instagram @danieljestes

Maybe try implementing some time of a rating system of 1-5 or 1-10 for like length, difficulty, how crowded it is, etc. that way people get an idea of the canyon as a whole? Also a canyon recommendation is Carbon Canyon which runs from Chino to Brea.

On the second time up the mountain with the camera on the trunk lid, how did you reduce the wind noise that much?

Don't really know if I agree with the advice you gave about steering. What happens when you have a sharp hairpin? In autox and some road racing situations a lot of drivers will move their left hand to the 12 o clock position and pull the wheel down to help them get around that hair pin. Nevertheless I like what you've done to the Miata keep up the good work.
@CARSONBOARD
@CARSONBOARD 7 жыл бұрын
You're right! I forgot to mention with different cars mostly older steering racks and different tracks with hairpin you need to shuffle steer but the the technique I show helps to keep the car more stable which helps with faster lap times.
@kingjimmykingjimmy
@kingjimmykingjimmy 7 жыл бұрын
CARS ONBOARD definitely man, one thing to think about is depowering your steering rack if you want better steering feel. It's an easy mod to do.
@danieljestes8251

I think the primary thing he was trying to stress is (to a lot of beginner drivers) not to take your hands off the wheel so there is smaller possibility of losing control. I agree with what you're saying though when I AutoX that comes into play occasionally and I even find myself fumbling with tight corners!

Why is it bad to use the parking break after you drive in the mountains and the breaks are hot? What damage does it cause to the break rotors?
@CARSONBOARD
@CARSONBOARD 7 жыл бұрын
When you have a hot pad and rotor and you pull the e-brake you will leave a hot spot on the rotor and pad. It will drop the performance of the rotor and brake pad.

Love the video. Driving tip, race on way up, not on the way down I'm the way up you have better braking, on the way down your braking is worse. Also Gmr isn't strictly a 2nd gear road. It has to do with your gearing ratios, a 1.6 5 speed it's a 2nd gear, but if you have a 1.8 6 speed swap it's a 3rd gear road. The place where he hangs out is typically called the point.
