Different notes/playback for fire, riot on ward or escaped patient, us in nurses quarters off duty also had to assemble at assigned point to lend a hand in those emergency situations but were allowed to ignore the friday tests. I loved working in asylums and was very good at my job too but of course most were built on prime land and property maggots just itching to get abysmal housing estates on all of 'em.

Interesting! I suppose these sites probably have internal alarms for these scenarios, but some have external warning sirens too - like Carstairs. Closure of places similar to this has put unnecessary pressure on the remaining sites to deal with everyone who needs psychiatric care, but unfortunately that’s how the world works now. Everything is financially motivated and care quality suffers as a result. Really interesting tale, thanks for sharing it!

This siren is roughly the same age as the CS8s on Broadmoor. It too uses a special, one off signal- this isn’t attack, as that would be more of a constant wailing- not sure what this signal is called. @Miguel Rodriguez fair enough. I've got no name for it and because I am not aware of any other networks to use this I tend to refer to it as the 'carstairs signal'.
