To be honest, I always felt like Russell has somewhat of a "darker" more emotional side to him, since he slapped Bottas on the head. He was really heated after that. I think he sometimes wants things a little too much, in Imola 2021 it was beating Bottas, in other instances it was getting points for Williams, where he often fucked up. I think he will not play the second driver role as Bottas usually has. Russell has too much of an ego for that and he will probably be more like Rosberg, if he get's the chance.

There is adaptability should be put as parameter how fast GR would adapt first before finding his pace. Hamilton vs Russell is teammate battle await. Old guard vs young gun. We had Alonso vs Ocon in 2021. I don't think Russell would beat Ham straight away. However, it would be close between them. Remember, unknown territory is Hamilton expertise. Remember 2007 and 2014. Hamilton and Alonso started their 2007 season at Maca in a clean sheet. It also happened in 2014 when new reg emerged both Rosber and Hamilton started in a clean sheet. 2007 and 2014 were races of adaption. Hamilton was about to entering his 10th season together with Merc. Hamilton know - how of Merc would be advantage on his side. Russell may have the chance, if the condition reverse e.g., Russell is the incumbent Merc driver and Hamilton is a new comer. Even-though with this condition Russell would have hard time to beat Ham. Remember, when Hamilton decided to joint Merc, Nico already had 3 years’ experience under his belt. Nico made Merc his team already. When Merc finally announced Ham would join the team in 2013, Nico knew who would he fight against in the coming season, his nemesis childhood. Guest what, Rosberg 3 years experience is nothing for new comer Ham. Ham went straight to out qualify Rosberg in Australia, the first race in 2013. In the end of the season, Ham outscored Rosberg in pole position 5-3, points 189-171, finished ahead, and qualified ahead. Anyone should remember either being incumbent or new comer, Hamilton is a tall order beat. Hamilton like all the great in Motorsport, needs no much times to find his pace again when moving to new car - team.

I absolutely do not mind domination by incredible driver skill(example: Sebastian Vettel in his prime), that is absolutely fine. What I hate is domination by a driver carried to titles by a dominating car and team orders like Hamilton was...in the ONE year where Mercedes held back on team orders he lost the title to his teammate, the ONLY other driver he was competing with. And in the ONLY season when another team was even remotely close to Mercedes he again lost the title. The only title that Hamilton legit won was his first title in 2008...he was incredibly lucky and that title kind of fell to him more than him winning it but whatever, it was legit. Hamilton's greatness was a fabricated narrative, he was never the best or even close to the best. If George Russell can dominate on skill without team orders then I'm all for it hell I might even be a Mercedes fan. Vettel in his prime was some of the greatest racing F1 has ever witnessed...stuff like what he did in the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix with everything on the line, in the rain, with a broken radio is something that drivers like Hamilton and Alonso could never even dream of.

"George destroyed Kubica" yes 😀 thats why George was last in drivers standings on the end of the season :D

George pretty much dominated him in every other statistical category imagineable. It was just on his best days there was not enough retirements. Kubica did have one hand though so it's not all that impressive.

It could also turn into a disaster, imagine going to the top team, and they somehow fall down the grid in a few years. It's happened before to top teams, like when Perez went to Mclaren at the worst possible time. Even more nightmare fuel would be Williams coming back to form. Only time will tell.

George is clearly a talented driver.... I really like him and ws so pleased he helped Williams and drove for them, I hope Williams can make it to the big time again. George looks to be better than Bottas imho and winners have to have an edge about them (as George does), this may have been Bottass' problem.... so for me this looks good for George.

George vs Hamilton will be similar to 2007 lewis vs Alonso, when lewis beat 2x times world champion alonso as a rookie , I think George can beat lewis and become the new F1 villain he has the speed to do it

Alonso was treated like something the McLaren bosses stepped in. Button signed up for equal partnership it was literally in the contract and I remember like it was yesterday Button crying about finding different parts on Hamilton's car. Have you got the reality check yet?

Russell is overrated. He showed his true colours when he crashed into Bottas in Imola with his disgraceful reaction. Plus he's already big-headed whether he scores above Hamilton or not. For me he's already the villain!!!

Russell is not the GOAT. He came across as a complete asshole in D to S4. He clearly caused the accident with Bottas, but didn't apologize. At no point is he going to beat Hamilton or be allowed to. He is the wingman to Hamilton. If he thinks he will be anything else, he's in for a surprise. Mercedes is a very tough team.
@merbuhk2 жыл бұрын
George is obviously very talented, but many of you guys already make the mistake most in F1 did every year. Underestimating Lewis Hamilton. "This is Ferrari's year." "Seb is gonna win it." "It's Bottas' turn now." No. It's always Hamilton. He almost won the title last year in a car that for the most part was second fastest. And it was Max Verstappen in the fastest car, a deadly combi to beat. George wasn't much faster in the races than Latifi, he still has a lot to prove. Sakhir was an impressive showing, but the track was just a powertrack, as long as you don't spin, you could put a Mercedes on the podium. Imo even Mazepin could have scored a Top 5 in that W11. And it's Mazepin. Sakhir is really an easy track to drive, tho is still physically challenging through the heat. I'm not talking about the Bahrain GP, I'm talking about the very fast layout, which skips the infield section. Look, even Stroll finished on the podium, with Perez going from last to first, amazing performance nevertheless, but helped by the layout. Unpopular opinion, and I'm ready to take the hate, but George still has to prove his race pace to me. His Quali-Pace is among the greatest on the grid.
@Storiaron2 жыл бұрын
7 world titles are less impressive for lewis than the fact that he went even with alonso in his first season. So many drivers could have been champions at merc, but no one other than him has proven equal to alonso

George is a good guy. He's currently wiping the floor with Hamilton and that's fine. Hamilton's going to find his way back to the front eventually, but he's gotta change how he drives to get there. He's no villain, there are no villains in F1. They're all pretty good dudes.

George reminds me of Tobey Maguire, pretending to be spiderman (I didn't really care for Tobey but I find it difficult to really think of any reason "why"). I think I like Hamilton because he always makes an effort to be gracious, whether winning or not. Good sportsman. My favorite, however, was Valtteri! I was always rooting for him to take more wins. But he kept burning up his tires & getting stuck back a few places.

that is very presumptuous to be worried for about George dominating and having too big a head. His teammate is basically considered the greatest F1 driver of all time who also happens to be very very motivated for this upcoming season following last years season. Yes he has amazing talent, as did Verstappen but there will still be a learning curve hopping into the car of a top team in F1 vs. what I can safely say was not a top team in F1.
