Steve, so I'm the SYNC specialist at a Ford/Lincoln dealer here in Prescott Arizona. I do diagnostics and repair of all Ford/Lincoln entertainment systems. Ford/Lincoln digital experience is new to all of us and I found myself struggling to understand all the features and the user interface. I watched your video and I must say, well done. It is better than anything I can get from Ford or Lincoln. Thanks a million, now I understand it.

@@CarsWithSteve I have worked with every generation of SYNC. Ford/Lincoln Digital Experience is new for 2024. It is for more complex and comprehensive than SYNC. It's new to me, but I like it. @@CarsWithSteve I love my Nautilus. I’ve taken two trips in it already. The biggest surprise was Blue Cruise. I honestly didn’t think I would use it but my confidence level has grown to trust it more and more. I had been searching the owners manual for one of the buttons but finally found the answer on your video. The wonderful part about these vehicles is the technology built in. The scary part about these vehicles is the technology built in. A double edge sword. So far no issues I’m happy to report. I love the Hybrid. I also own a fully electric and an ICE.

BlueCruise is such an incredible system, I love using it every time I'm in a Ford or Lincoln. Double edged sword for sure with the technology but if the previous versions of the Nautilus are any indication, you shouldn't run into any major problems with your car! What's the EV that you own? How has your experience been with that one?
@consultngaАй бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve I own a Chevy Bolt EUV. It's actually my second EV. My previous being a Nissan Leaf that I put 111,000 miles on before an accident took it out. I'm all in on EV's except the charging network is still years off for wide acceptance. As an every day around town commuter car it's hard to beat. The only weakness with my Bolt is slow fast charging times which is why I've only take one long trip with it.
@CarsWithSteveАй бұрын
It's a great idea to have EV and ICE for different reasons. The only reason why I haven't gone EV yet is because of my usual road trips but having ICE as a backup would be a great workaround to that. How are you finding the range with bolt? Much of a change during winter driving?

I wanted to add that after driving it for a month I was supposedly the first customer that had a black out, with this I mean I opened the car and everything was off, I was able to turn it on and the air conditioning was working but, it only showed a tiny sign in the big panoramic screen, I looked inside the manual and it meant parking brake needs service. They came to my home, picked it up, and dropped me another car for me to drive. I was disappointed at first because I was the first one that experienced this however that could be a lie, it was in the shop for the weekend and on Wednesday I got it back and it was normal again, they said that it needed an update. Whats the lifespan of the battery on the hybrid model? Or is it covered for 8 years in warranty
@CarsWithSteve9 ай бұрын
Hybrid components in Lincoln vehicles are covered for 8 years 160,000km/100,000 miles. Lifespan is too early to tell right now because it's a new battery size... the Escape hybrid is great but we won't know for at least another 3-5 years how this one holds up long term or with higher mileage
@mojorisin73717 ай бұрын
Love the enthusiastic review of this new Nautilus. You're doing a commendable job on each vehicle you review and are a breath of fresh air compared to the crowded field of reviewers on the web. You take your time presenting the vehicle and come off more authentic then the average pretentious reviewer who tries to rush through the review or has an obvious agenda rather then the presentation of the vehicle they are reviewing. This vehicle however is disappointing in the power department, it doesn't offer the 2.7 V6 anymore and in this segment the upgraded hybrid system power numbers should be the standard power output numbers. Not sure why Lincoln doesn't offer the 2.3 as the standard powerplant in the Nautilus. My advice to Lincoln would be to offer the 2.3 as the standard powerplant, the hybrid as an option and the 2.7 in the black label or an upcharged option on all trims. Perhaps if the demand warrants it they may decide to take my advice, we'll see ✌🏽♥️
@CarsWithSteve7 ай бұрын
Thank you! Always good to hear when people appreciate the ridiculous detail that I go into with these videos. I was really surprised with the 2.7L getting the axe and then no plug in or electric version yet either . I'm sure the powertrain will get addressed in the next few years and if it's not plug in hybrid it'll be full electric if Lincoln keeps it in production

@CarsWithSteve10 ай бұрын
Most brands will be the same way with new vehicles.. there's typically a 6 month and minimum 5,000 - 10,000 mile window before they can be exported. Dealers can be fined pretty large amounts by the manufacturer for exporting new vehicles and local buyers are black listed from buying all the time because of it. Your best bet is to find one that's a previous year old with low mileage

What would you do? My 2021 Highlander Platinum Hybrid lease with only 16k miles on it will end on Sept 4th. I have 3 payments left. If you were me, would you buy out the low mileage Highlander? Or trade it in for a Grand Highlander or a more luxury type of suv like the Nautilus? So far, I have been looking at the Nautilus & the Lexus TX. Thanks for putting out this very informative video of the Nautilus. 👍 People are saying to stay away from Ford / Lincoln, but I really like this Nautilus. Toyota has been my preference since 2010, and I am torn because I would like to try driving a more luxurious type of vehicle. Either a Reserve 3 loaded or a Black Label. The Lexus TX 500H FSport is on my radar, too. The 2025 Buick Avenir is also of consideration. Thanks!

That's a tough call.. but it depends on you and your financial situation. With only 16,000 miles on it, chances are that you'd get way more on a trade in vs what the buyout is going to be. I'd start by getting some trade in quotes from Lincoln dealerships to see what they're willing to offer on the Highlander. If the trade in is more than the buy out, then buy it out and you'll have more positive equity to carry forward. If you really want an SUV that's more luxurious, aren't a fan of the Highlander and have the budget for a new vehicle then why not?
@djjohnnyparis51838 ай бұрын
@CarsWithSteve Thank You! My residual is 34k, and I have received 1 quote of 38k. Finances are good, but I still don't want to get rolled over at the dealership. Lol
@CarsWithSteve8 ай бұрын
Sounds like it makes sense to do the buyout and then sell the Highlander to the dealership assuming that's the plan. The Nautilus has between a $3k and $5k dealer profit margin so on a Reserve 3 or Black Label I'd offer them somewhere between $2k and $3k under MSRP ;)

I'm having a hard time choosing between this Nautilus vs X5. With similar prices, around $72-75K, is Lincoln really worth that much? I like how Lincoln have more features than the X5.
@CarsWithSteve6 ай бұрын
The entry level X5 is $15,000 more than the entry level Nautilus. The X5 will have more horsepower and torque in comparison though... BMW also has a higher cost of ownership because of the cost of maintenance and the need for 91 octane vs Lincoln only needing 87
@Ian-mv4qq6 ай бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve Yeah I was comparing a pretty loaded Nautilus vs moderately packed X5. One thing I don't like on the Nautilus is the AC control on the screen, like the new BMW setting. I love the adaptive cruise control, I think it's a strong point. Also like you mentioned, only need regular unleaded gas.
@CarsWithSteve6 ай бұрын
Makes sense.. the X5 would beat it out for overall power but lots to consider. Which way are you leaning right now?
@Ian-mv4qq6 ай бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve Honestly the Nautilus, but maybe not the fully loaded. I just can't justify paying the same price as X5 for a Lincoln. Maybe I'm still biased. I have X1, love everything except the tech and all on screen control lol
@CarsWithSteve6 ай бұрын
No need to go with the Black Label... I think the Reserve II / 202a is the sweet spot for price and feature set.

@CarsWithSteve10 ай бұрын
When you have an active route going on a map application in CarPlay or Android Auto it should mirror the map in place of where Google Maps normally runs!
@techtiffany649410 ай бұрын
It mirrors Apple Maps only perhaps it’s Waze with an android but curious if you know how to show time to destination with Google maps it does with Apple Maps but Google only shows like 17 min to destination verses 2:17pm arrival time.

Looks like this car might be very comfortable and so forth but it seems like it's an accident waiting to happen with the extra wide screen and touch buttons on the steering wheel etcetera. Seems like they would take a lot more effort and distraction to work compared to simple toggle switches and so forth.
@CarsWithSteve10 ай бұрын
Honestly.. when I was driving it I never felt like the screens were distracting at all, but there is a calming mode that dims out the right half of the 48" screen! The steering wheel buttons did seem a bit odd when I first used them on the initial drive but it becomes very intuitive once you get the hang of it. Take one for a spin when your Lincoln dealer has one in stock.. I'd love to hear your feedback when you have the chance to drive one!
@douglastaylor99910 ай бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve ha, thanks for the optimism but my Kia Seltos is about as much as I will probably spend on a car. I find that very easy to use a non-distracting with the toggle switches and buttons. But I appreciate your in-depth reviews of especially the infotainment systems on cars. I am pretty upset with a lot of manufacturers with all these RECALLS, especially with Kia and hyundai. It seems to me I don't hear a lot of recall concerning Lincoln's - would you agree with that? I can't afford all this money for an unreliable car or an engine or transmission that is just waiting to fail! Really frustrating for us retired old guys without a ton of money!
@CarsWithSteve10 ай бұрын
The Seltos is a simple ride for sure! Do you have the 2.0L or 1.6L turbo in yours? Outside of the fire risk for some models the Seltos doesn't seem to have any other NHTSA complaints. Has your Seltos given you any issues so far? The 2021 - 2022 Nautilus has no active recalls and the 2023 is only rear shock absorbers and a weld on some child seat tethers
@douglastaylor99910 ай бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve I participate in the Seltos forums and it's disappointing to see the number of engine and transmission replacements. I have the EX with the dual clutch and the turbo. We are old enough that we put very few miles on it so it is a 2021 with 16,000 mi. My wife's 2016 Kia Soul (she LOVES that's car) is a victim of the easy to steal problem because of not having an immobilizer. I find that very hard to forgive Kia for that! We have been Kia and Hyundai owners since 2002 I'm not sure that any other manufacturer is going to be more reliable - even a lot of Toyota recalls lately.
@CarsWithSteve10 ай бұрын
Interesting... I'm surprised there aren't more NHTSA complaints on it. I was surprised about the lack of immobilizer. Has hers fallen victim to a theft attempt?

Good question.. It's an odd choice for them to not have a more powerful model but I guess looking at what models were selling it made sense for them to axe the 2.7L

@CarsWithSteve9 ай бұрын
Try a few hard brakes to remove rust from the rotors. Get up to 30 - 50 mph and brake hard, do that a few times. If that doesn't remove it or if you're still running into issues, pressure the dealer to replace them under warranty. If your selling dealer won't, then go to another dealership
