I've been meaning to address this for a while. I've noticed that since Carter's GT days his content has gotten way sillier. His current stuff is fire and he's mopped the floor with Chedda, Illmac, ICE, and more... but it's definitely more random and silly and jokey than his older stuff. He actually dissed people in his old battles, took it more seriously (content wise). I wonder if that's just because of the cultural shift throughout the years. I know 2016 Carter might not have been as accepted in 2011.

Lord Leo been a fan for years and you are spot on. For me I think it's a natural progression for guys like Deems, Charron, Rone et al who start off with similar styles to others and then as time progresses they eventually find their own niche or appeal that propels them forward. I for one love what's happening in the scene right now, refreshing.

I would fucking love to battle Knox. This is a guy whose wordplay is so technically sharp and polished it's like listening to progressive math metal in battle rap form; easily half his best shit soared right over that crowd's heads. I love Carter Deems, but I'm not so much of a fanboy that I'm not going to sit here and act like Knox didn't absolutely body Deems on an intellectual and literary level. Carter has a gimmick/persona so perfectly honed it can't lose, no matter how good the rapper. Deems will always win because his character is that of the underdog, the nerdy little guy that stands up to the bully. Every crowd is immediately sympathetic to the "long shot". If Knox had choked the entire battle, but the only line he remembered had been that "sentence ends tens cents" whatever the fuck bar, he still would have taken the W.
