Carter Sisters Mother Maybelle Chet Atkins KWTO Program 3

This is the 3rd ABC nationally syndicated radio program from 1950 on KWTO radio in Springfield, Missouri after the Carters started doing the Radiozark transcriptions.
The first song all 3 Carter Sisters sing "Cimmaron" the second song, Anita Carter shines singing a song she wrote titled "Blue Skies and Sunshine". Note - When they recorded "Blue Skies and Sunshine" on RCA Helen sang with Anita on the verses. This is the only recording that Anita sang solo on her song and this recording was never published or sold and only heard by their listeners in 1950.
The third song is a hymn "Lord Lead Me On" then Chester "Chet" Atkins with Anita on bass, Helen, accordion does a instrumental solo. The last song is a song that Mother Maybelle and June wrote titled "Grandma Told Me So". This song was released by June on RCA records.

Takes me back to mandolin music lessons I think it was Lester Flatt and Earl Skruggs music books or maybe it was their music around Jethro Burns books.

Not a fan of the Carter's music nor Chet's singing......but it is interesting to hear this music to see how great a guitarist Chet was back in those early days.

If it wasn't for the Carter Sisters and Mother Maybelle hiring Chet Atkins in 1948 he would have never made it back to Nashville and he probably would have fallen into obscurity with thousands and thousands of guitar pickers. He was literally a starving guitar player playing on WNOX for maybe $50 a week. He said it many times the best job I ever had was playing guitar with Maybelle and her 3 beautiful daughters. The Carters girls were filling venues before they hired Chet. They loved him like a brother and made sure he got to shine on these recordings. I actually like his voice, very underrated imo.
