I completely agree, I love the 8v engine in the Mk1 and this Mk2, if I owned any of them I would love to throw a turbo build on a 8v and make decent power for the car, like 200hp, it's easy power I would say and reliable power for the car, no reason to make it overpowered.

Make sure you are getting the low tension signal from the coil to relay. The relay will only prime the pump/accumulator when you turn the ignition on, but the relay needs that low tension signal from the coil so it knows that the engine is turning over. Its a safety/crash feature on the K-Jet.

long live the MK2!! my favorite all time car! ive owned several of them over the last 25 years, and they are simply epic! mk1/2/3 vw is some of the funnest cars to build, repair, and drive. basic simplicity. my daily is a mk3 that i vr6 swapped, and i refuse to by any car of any brand newer than 1998. had you guys been state-side, i have a fantastic ENGLISH SPEC 1.8 CIS GTI motor from a 1984.5 mk2 GTI sitting in my basement. ran when pulled, we stuffed a 24V Vr6 into the car, and as part of the payment, the owner gave me the old motor. it DROVE in, and sounded excellent. ive had 25 years experience with the old 8V vw engines, so i know what a bad one sounds like. CIS vw setups with the dual fuel pumps were pretty finicky. the in-tank pump was a low pressure high flow pump. the one that actually made the engine run, was a VERY high pressure vein style pump, that ran at 90-125psi. in the states, they are incredibly expensive and hard to find. i keep lots of used ones in stock to keep the old cars in my area on the road. ive also rebuilt several of the fuel distribution blocks in the front, the part with the 4 fuel lines coming out of it.
