100%. Alex was overly sarcastic and often came across as if he was trying too hard to be funny when he was on Car Throttle, it sometimes came across as mean spirited (mainly when it was directed at Ethan). Alex is much better on his own channel and has become a better presenter when he's surrounded by people like Taylor that match his energy. Likewise, this channel has become much better with Jack taking on the role of the main presenter, he's self deprecating and sarcastic without coming across as hateful, and Edwin is mechanically knowledgeable while also being effortlessly funny. The role switch up was the best thing to happen to both channels.

My recently revived SW20 MR2 had been in a unit for 13 years, collecting dust and as dead as we expected. She may have cranked with a fresh battery and some V-Power but she was in dire need of resto work. So my mate did just that. He dropped the engine and gearbox from the car, fabricated new brake and clutch lines, as well as replaced the old heating matrix lines. Once that was done she got new filters, new fluids, new gaskets, a new clutch and release bearing, new brake discs and pads, strut top mounts, a radiator, throttle and handbrake cables as well as a Rev4 speedometer conversion. 13 years of sitting in a barn and she flew through an MOT and is now happily back on the road. Goes to show that if you have the time, money and resources, anything can go back on the road

I know, that’s what I thought. I don’t even think this car should have the red pinstripe bumpers it’s that early. Atleast it never fell victim to some muppet who put big bumpers on it in the 90’s haha.
@upgrade8280 Жыл бұрын
@@mk2nathan it should have red stripe bumpers. Only the very early ‘83/‘84 models came with black bumpers and Mk1 style vinyl twin side stripes not rubbing strips. They also didn’t come with the black vinyl sill decals. They were just exposed painted sills. Interior was also black cloth with orange stripes and piping in the very early models. The grilled were also single lamp with no red stripe and the GTI badge would have been on the left side of the grille as opposed to the right side like this one.
@mk2nathan Жыл бұрын
@@upgrade8280 ah okay, I stand corrected. But yes you’re definitely correct. I sold a bumper off my cl to a guy with a b reg gti and that had orange stripe interior and black bumpers/grill Just presumed this would be the same. His must’ve been an early b and this would be a late b.
@upgrade8280 Жыл бұрын
@@mk2nathan yep that’s correct, early B reg was the last of the original Mk2 GTI’s. They still had some Mk1 parts on the slightly later models up to ‘86/‘87. My ‘86 has Mars Red paint, LHD wipers, Mk1 handbrake and a few other small bits. The front wing profile around the grille on the early Mk2’s is different to the later ones also. I would love an ‘83/‘84 GTI in Lhasa green with the green stripe interior and tarantula alloys but they’re probably the rarest of the early ones.
