Agreed. At first when Alex had left there was a bit of a "now what", but they really made it work and the way i see it we've now got 2 good car channels when we used to have only one. We all benefit.

It's not that I don't like Alex but he got a lot of stuff going on his hands and i'm not sure how much time would he even find for the channel so it's nice having Edwin as a full time presenter.

@@royliber3824 As i understand Alex was supposed to remain at CarThrottle as freelance but his channel grew so fast he doesn't really have time to do much else besides his own thing at AutoAlex. Quite happy it happened. The thing that seems to be missing is some sort of a big challenge between the CarThrottle and the AutoAlex guys.

Edwin is great. I thought no one would be able to replace Alex, kind of like what happened to Top Gear, but Edwin really filled in those shoes. He's hilarious and is passionate about cars. It probably also helps that he's been with Car Throttle for many years, just mostly behind the scenes with the odd appearance. I actually think I prefer Edwin, not to shit on Alex at all, he was great, but it always felt like Alex was overshadowing Ethan and Jack, whereas with Edwin, it feels like everybody is involved. I don't really know how to describe it, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Since this car is TECHNICALLY owned by Ethan it would be fun I think to do a more down to earth casual thing. No sponsor parts, no stupid mods, just a "dude's" journey in getting his somewhat exotic car roadworthy. Going to heaps, finding people who do chassis welding, cleaning sorting paperwork out, chill shit. Also mentions of real costs. It doesn't even need to be done too quickly. This could be the channel's 'supergramps'.

As an HRV owner, the SMX looks like the key car version of my car. Seen them before, sadly never saw a manual one I would be interested in. Edit, as for the engine, afaik, the B20 block will accept a B18 or B16 head, so this could be a 200hp car somewhat easy, given it also gets an ECU and such ofc. But this is 2nd hand knowledge so no guarantee. Tl:dr: Very much love the new project.

it has the look, but is significantly bigger than a Kei car. as they said, the engine is a 2.0, which wouldnt even fit between the frame rails of a regular Kei. it uses basically Civic drivetrain parts in the front, so it's as wide as a Civic, as low as a Civic, but as tall as a CRV. extremely cool car IMO

Definitely agree that a B20 franken engine is the way to go. Best of both worlds, 'big' torque from the 2.0 litre bottom end, but then a b18C head for that sweet VTEC yo. They take turbos really nicely too and can make some serious power.

JDM stuff is fascinating. I had an ‘89 Toyota Materace for a few years and compared to what my dad had in ‘89 (a 2 year old Mk 2 Cav) this was like a space ship. Mid engine, rwd, 2.0 petrol with a manual box. 6 glass roof panels (two removable!), the 5 rear seats folded to make a bed, shag carpet, electric curtains, hot/cold/ice box (with a little tray for making ice cubes), front and rear air con, TEMS computer controlled suspension, and little corner lights that came one when you indicated. Plus, and this is critical, yellow fog lights! Wish I’d kept it!😂
