Love the culling videos! I always ask my self when looking my games, "is this a library or a collection?" A collection is mostly used for display purposes, while a library is streamlined to where each game has a purpose. What helps me with selling, i think every game you sell is a possibility of getting someone into the hobby.

I enjoy these conversational topics. Probably my favorite type of video that you put out. Keep 'em coming. Not enjoying a game is #1 for me. Not enough space #2. I currently have 27 games in my cull pile, awaiting the next board game flea market. There's only one that I'm somewhat hesitant to get rid of.

Which one is that??

Bro I only have 25 games IN my collection haha. I can't imagine feeling like I need to get rid of 27 games. I'm also newer to the hobby though and understand that's not the norm here.

@mckeoncrawford9262 I have a problem...

@@GameBrigade It's a totally random little game, Masters of a Renaissance (Lorenzo il Magnifico). My wife enjoys it, I enjoy playing with her.

I'm about to take some photos of my games to list on Marketplace. This video has helped me have the courage to list a few more than planned. haha

I totally understand your decision making. I just sold big box Gloomhaven with a loss to a local play room and went with Button and Bugs as a "replacement" that takes like 1/20 of the space. :D

Hey Bryan, I really appreciate you keeping it real on the reasons you cull and keep things in your collection! I go about it the same way, can I get it back if I want, is it hard to find, does it get played, does it make me happy etc.. Oh and if you do decide to sell AE because the setup is outrageous just let me know because I’ve been looking it pickup a copy but it’s so hard to find one that isn’t being scalped at crazy prices.

Deciding what to cull is so hard. My collection is all things I enjoyed, so I keep thinking, oh, but this one is the best of niche X, or this is a family member's favorite, or my group didnt like it so I haven't played in years, but I still want to again...But now I'm out of shelf space, so need to cull before new purchases. And I'm in the same boat on Everdell (and 2 other big boxes). I paid for the giant box because I loved the game, but then have barely played it since getting the giant box that's hard to transport and set up. As to TI4, have you tried 4p? I highly suggest trying it. It's sadly less diplo, but the double strategy action changes up the feel and the game is 1-2 rounds shorter, it's the fastest playtime. We get 4p games done in 3.5-4.5 hours vs 6-7 hours for 5-6p.

Agree with all of your points. I’m always amazed after I sell / trade my list of games how I can make another list of games that previously I didn’t want to move on from and now I’m ok with. I’m also starting to have a ‘12-18 month’ rule: If I get a game (unless it’s a grail I’ve been searching for) and it hasn’t made it’s way to my table in 12-18 months, just move on. It’s clearly not that significant if I couldn’t table it even once.

I appreciate the video- this is something I definitely need to work on. Where do you typically sell your games?
@GameBrigadeАй бұрын
I first default to Facebook Marketplace for local sales. Hopefully don't have to ship. If that fails I then cross post to FB buy/sell groups and BGG marketplace. If I have a rare game I have done eBay but they take %12.5 fee for boardgames.

I also attend a local board Game swap and sell games there quarterly.

can we thumbs up this, I would like to see a GAME BRIGADE Game collection Talk-Through. Showcase all your games and talk through them

That is a great idea. I've been thinking about doing something like that

I have sold games recently because I grew to be another sort of gamer. I'm more for immersion games instead of point salads. A great example is ruins Arnak. It's all point based and to have an engine running. I don't feel the adventure or immersion when playing the game at all. The art is beautiful, but you can slap any other theme on this game in my opinion.
@Urek968Ай бұрын
One of my problems with immersive games is it sometimes requires the right group and a level of investment to have fun. I have a group that likes to joke around and they don't seem to care as much about immersion and story as I do so I usually play those games solo. While I can play point style games with anyone and have fun. I prefer immersive games but points games will always have a place when playing with friends or family.
@kabelstekkerАй бұрын
@Urek968 I hear what you are saying. Indeed it depends on the group. Of course a little laugh here and there is important for a good atmosphere. Luckily there are so many games for different people. Which makes the libraries for everyone different and unique.
