The combine is mint , I never understood how contractors etc change a silage harvester every 3 year but use a 40 ye old combine ! , Surely it's very in efficient and you end up with alot of grain back on the field . That wee class combine is the ticket ! Another great video George 👍👍

Possibly my least favorite experience ever was uplifting with the Nuffield 10/68 just outside Ravensden up Graze Hill. No cab, no seatbelt, rollover bar, and way too big a trailer. Drum brakes on the back wheels were snatching so with the heavy trailer the front wheels were bouncing and you could only steer when they were on the ground. Downhill the brakes made it hunt from side to side. Very dangerous. Remember when they used to burn the fields? When I was first there in 1983 cycling round near Thurleigh on a summer evening was like some sort of apocalypse. Towering smoke columns all over the area.

Tw with front opening window🤔 would be like patio doors out to the decking🤣. Great video. Take care. I know how bad it is working in the heat when we are made to wear boilersuits and even hard hats all the time due to health and safety. Just never mind about the passing out bit due to the heat. 🤔🙄.

I hate the heat as well though when I passed out climbing out the 6610 while baling straw it did finally lead us to replacing the busted fan in it but I much prefer working in our Kubota as that is like a fridge.

George, I am 100% with you about the heat. I would take 25c and sunny over 30+ degrees every time. Fortunately I live in the NW of England so we don't get the same heat as the SE sees. Up here I have not seen many harvested fields yet, probably because we have had too much rain recently. I am off work for a few days now so hope to get out on my bike and see if I can see any combine action this weekend.

If your grain trailers are the same. You could place a couple of chocks of wood or a length of 4x2-4x4 to reverse up to at the pit. That's what we use to when carting to an auger at a silo in Tasmania(AUS)

Bad News for you George, next week ( 10th August ) the UK forecast is for hot weather higher than the Mediterranean! All that week too. Like you I like some heat, But like most Britons we are used to only mild wet summers Not fire hot humid summers? I had another idea George. When you take the empty grain trailer to the combine, when 1st starting a field, it is a shame you can't attach all the used attachments together and tow them all at once to the field and unhook them at the side then they are all there ready to be used as needed! Saving you keep going back and forth tot he farm for the field working items. Like the plow the cultivator the baler all hooked up in a single towing system with all the electric lighting warning signs etc. daisy chained in one long towing unit, Save a ton of fuel and time? Then after all used on the fields. tow them all back in one go. : )
@seberous4 жыл бұрын
Please tell me youre joking about that for the tenth. Although a road train would look cool, be a fiar job convincing authorities to allow that many articulation points. I could be wrong, but it think with any more than 2 you need special permissions and possibly an escourt. Unsure exactly of that, but there is a lot of red tape with it sadly. Mainly as some kit has brakes and other pieces dont, so if you had to stop quickly, theres a risk of it all curling up into one heap.

Anyone who loves this hot weather can go swivel. Fixing forklifts all day in full company uniform, wearing thick jet black overalls in the baking sun leaning over red hot engines is as miserable as it gets in anything over 28 degrees, plus a van with no aircon 😂. About 18-20 degrees is perfect working weather 👌 And then people come out of offices and genuinely believe and say 'I'd love an outside job in the summer, your so lucky!' 😡😡 😂 😂

I find the worst part of air con is getting in. Even if i'm burning hot at first I will shiver and get a runny nose for a bit before I acclimate. Worked with several people like that, but you can't be unfair to your customers and people who tend to overheat in summer cause they could get sick. worst we'll do is put on a jacket and use more tissue than normal.
