Did you know: Plastic Man was originally a criminal named "Eel" O'Brien. He has (or will have) a rather serious son with a similar powers named Offspring. He was the first stretching/elastic superhero. The Elongated Man was created by DC comics as a tryout to see if they could do Plastic Man with the same humor without triggering the Comic Code Authority.

I think maybe you're missing the point of this show - it's SUPPOSED to be goofy. Think 'Super Friends' done in the style of the 1960s Batman. You're not supposed to look at this and think it's anything even remotely close to DC canon - or even that it's a 'real' superhero show. And remember, in the 1970s, cartoons were still 'kid's stuff'. As in, not for adults AT ALL.

It's also appropriate Plastic Man be the main character as he was one of the first comedic superheroes.

I think Chief is SO not interested in Plastic Man, since he is not her type and he's a total idiot. She may have been aware that Penny do have a crush on him, and she mentally facepalm at his thick-headness and idiocy. That's my theory on them.
@thewalrusclown8 жыл бұрын
actually, Plastic man wasn't originally a DC hero, he was one of MANY characters made by Quality Comics that DC got ownership of where Quality comics was bought out due to bankruptcy (Uncle Sam and the freedom fighters probably being the most known outside of comic fandom) that where eventually folded into the main line in 1985's big crossover event, Crises on infinite earths

I remember in the comics there was a future story line, where his son was introduced , he was called Off Spring, but he was never taken seriously. He did try to be a super hero, but everyone never took him seriously, despite how it should of made him bitter or angry. he took it very well. He came across a plot where a bunch of villains were locating Brainiac's ship. His team track them down, but did nothing!! Well at the time their universe was about to end and the villains hoped to use Brainiac's ship to escape to a new universe. Just before the villains were about to take off, his team said. They told him this, Come on Man we keep you around as you make us laugh."
@L17015 жыл бұрын
I think you're referencing The Kingdom. Offspring would go on to appear in mainstream DC canon as well. And then Flashpoint broke the DCU, and Rebirth broke it again.

Plastic Man's dialogues between him and any combatants of any future installment of Boon's masterpiece would be absolutely untouchable and godlike,in regards to the witty quips he'd toss in the directions of his opponents decimating any and all pride they may possess. He'd roast EVERYONE and they momma! No one on the roster would be safe from his remorseless banter, especially if he doesn't like said person getting verbally toasted. And that's not even mentioning how badass his move set would be considering the powers he contains. Continuing to leave this DC OG out of the videogames is a huge INJUSTICE❕❗❕ And I'm sure any and all comic book readers would agree,especially if they're life long readers of the classic DC issues. If Atom had a chance to make it in than y the hell can't he🤦🏾♂️ Not to mention the fact that he's such a relatable, loveable,and an all around down to earth character. Those are the kinds of characters we should see more in the forefront of projects than most honestly. Characters that we all see in our individual selves should have way more time in the lime light! #plasticman4injustice3🤞🏾 #pleasemakeithappennrs🙏🏾

Although they had different voice actors, the voices of both Inspector Gadget and Plastic Man were inspired by the late great Don Adams, the original Agent 86, Maxwell Smart (GET SMART). I seem to recall a line in PLASTIC MAN that mimics Max Smart, "Missed it by THAT much!".
