It's from a book series. Humans basically wiped themselves out, buried sanctuary stations for humans to wait out the nuclear winter on the surface so they can go back up and reteraform the earth. As they were in waiting hundreds of thousands of years passed, and an alien race that was fleeing their dying star found earth and terraformed it for themslevs. They realised later on that the planet used to have an intelligent species that dominated it and the king became obsessed with what happened to them. The theme of the books is basically how humans are a supremely weird species that exploded in population and advanced so quickly they became so unstable as to be self destructive and out of touch with their environment. The aliens couldn't comprehend the scale of a single city from the human old world. With the estimated amount of people that would have lived in it dwarfing the entire collective civilisational height of the multiple alien species that make up their empire.

This is killing me cause if this recap is right they didn’t stick to the original story at all. What it looks like to me is they took the 3 book series “a search for Wondla” and turned it into a basic Netflix cartoon with no character and took out all the really cool story telling. Like her sister isn’t here? The fact that the aliens were confused because when they found earth it was dead and they used their tech to terraform it only to find a bunch of humans Hibernating underground. It was a really cool series.

The only thing that can be said is that they vaguely stuck to the character designs. I understand they had to "Disney-fy" Ditzerlizzi's detailed drawings, but it feels like all the characters are completely different. "Robot" was supposed to be "Muthr", and the "magician alien" was supposed to approve of Eva. The most ridiculous was Queen Ojo, who was turned into a damsel-princess with confidence issues instead of the TOWERING pillar of command she was in the books. If they just took a bigger budget and had Ditzerlizzi working on this with them, they could have made it much better.

It surprises me that a TV series like this one looks almost like one of those Sony, DW, or W.D films, this is enough evidence of how this industry has evolved . And the argument is interesting, an alien race that got rid from humanity to claim what its "theirs" for right, but at what cost? It reminds me of the Bogotazo in Colombia (1948) Many people escaped the country's capital to protect themselves from the political war between conservadores and liberales. From that year til the 80s people who came from other regions running also from war decided to live in those abandoned mansions and turn them into departments, but that didn't last long. The sons and daughters from the former owners returned to Bogota, to claim their properties in "legal" ways. Those who left stayed living on missery and those who fought back, ended up death or under the knees of a cop. Its a part of the cruel reality of some South american countries.
