Where are White Diamond's Gems? -Steven Universe Theory

After Steven Universe Stranded, all the talk was about Pink Diamond and her debut. But there is still one diamond we have yet to see. That is White Diamond, of course! And something that I thought of while looking at all of the gems we have seen in the show thus far is a lack of gems that could possibly belong to her. There are a few suspects, but besides that, I do find this really interesting. I may have thought of an answer of why this is, so make sure to watch the full video to see what I have to say about this mysterious leader of the Diamond Authority

If Pearl is White Diamond's gem, it should be pointed out that Pearl's color schemes so far have mostly included all the diamond colors. The idea that White Diamond is above all and every gem could be counted as her own could be reflected in her pearl (If Pearl is actually White Diamond). Pearl wears blue, yellow, and pink "clothing" because as a white gem; she reflects her original diamond: White Diamond. Like a prism, kinda.

Personally, I think she is White Diamond's. White is the combination of all colors in the light spectrum, so Pearl can have white, blue, pink, yellow, etc. in her clothing due to her being a white pearl. Not just that, but her pearl is much larger and more unique than the other two pearls that we've seen. Since she shows a rainbow spectrum and has a more oval shaped gem on her forehead, it wouldn't be bad to say she might be a "Mother of Pearl" rather than a basic pearl like the others.

What if white diamond only accepts the most perfect gems? The most pure, the best soldiers, the most obedient, the most elite? Most of the gems we've encountered are considered off-colour, so there's no way they'd be accepted into her 'perfect court'. The rest of the gems we've seen are clearly stamped with their appropriate diamond's colour besides Amethyst, and even then when wearing the white diamond she was quiet and obedient to Holly Blue Agate (even if it was an unconscious choice) so Holly Blue saw nothing wrong about it.

Rubies and the background Gems might be an exception to the color rule...or maybe there _is_ no color rule. For Blue Diamond, we've seen more exceptions than blue Gems. It's not _impossible_ that there's some set of rules dividing Gems up by color, but most Diamonds have only slightly more Gems known to work for them than they do colors of Gems...and the ones which we see color-coordinated the most are ones like Pearls and Zircons, who seem to be custom-made (at least to an extent).

I feel like the closer the color they resemble their diamond the more higher the rank they hold. Plus also the powers they have and skills you present puts you in a certain place and determines your rank and where they work for the diamonds.

What if the reason we haven't seen white diamond or her gems is because she is reforming? Gems can take a while to reform and her symbol is still part of the diamond authority. She was not present for the trial, something she as the top diamond should be present for.

I think this is an awesome theory. Imagine if she reforms to discover that Pink Diamond was shattered, the other Diamonds in disarray and another rebellion on the rise. I suspect that Blue and Yellow fear White Diamond. Perhaps another reason for Yellow's urgency to awaken the Cluster and destroy the Earth is to cover up the Diamond Authority's mistakes before White reforms.

That may have simply been to throw us off the scent of the reality of the Canon only to blow our minds by having a diamond poof, in the future or a flashback. When Amy became jasper she also had a white diamond but its just because she always keeps her same scheme of black,white,and several shades of purple. She dismisses this to the rubies being because of her tan. However that would have no affect on the color diamond on her clothes. The rubies know that Jasper belongs to YD but they don't question the white diamond. Also let's remember that all the other gems besides Amethyst went to the zoo with no diamond and werent called out. I know Holly Blue was being very dismissive because of Sapphire, but pearl even had the crystal gem star on her chest and this was never brought up...not even casually by Holly so Sapphire could come up with some excuse. All i have to say is i don't think we can use Amethyst's diamond insignia as good evidence

Hey, just thought of something, but first: DISCLAIMER: THIS THEORY HAS TO DO WITH DIAMOND FUSION... If you think about it, pink diamond is only pink because of the fact that there is a limited amount of colored diamonds in real life (i.e. an orange diamond could not exist) So, if we can, for a moment assume that pink diamond was intended to be red if it weren’t for the real life limitations. Red, Yellow, and Blue. The three primary colors. With light, red and yellow combine to form green, red and yellow to orange and blue and red to purple. That list of main diamonds and “fusion diamonds” contains all the colors of the rainbow. So, theoretically if Pink (red in this case because it deals with light mixing and pink is technically impossible to create with light) Yellow, and Blue diamonds all fused together, wouldn’t they (according to the rules of light) all fuse to form White Diamond? Maybe this could explain why we haven’t seen White Diamond anymore. Maybe she cant exist anymore because pink is shattered. This could explain why we haven’t seen any gems from white’s court. Because white diamond never had gems in her court. She may have just acted as a public figure.

You have a really good point here. But there is one huge problem. There is a rule in SU. When gems of any kind fuse, all of their gems are present in the fusion. White Diamond only appears to have one gem; on her forehead. If she contained more than 1 gem (3 gems in total), then this would be on point, in my opinion.

Just my thought white diamond is secretly a fusion of yellow,blue, and pink diamond, since they're primary colors with a acceptation of pink being a red. You can get every other color in a prism if they merge. Also in the murals, white has about 13 colonies with home world being a fourteenth at center, now added up the other three diamond's colonies if i counted right without mixing up the satellites with the planets you get 13 colonies too. This would also explain why there is no white diamond servants because all servants would belong to white. with pink "Dead" White diamond can't be formed. I know fusion is frown a pond by the diamonds and home world, but what if its because they can't become white diamond and that blue and yellow may be unstable when fused without pink. I think its a slight chance but it just my theory.

I don’t think pink diamond is dead by the time “The answer” is set, because in the garnet’s flashback about the war and pink diamond (Gemcation) we see that she is already garnet, besides they gave us the exact same amount of time that in “the answer” (5750 years ago). Since WD represents all colors, there are probably many types of gems and gem colors that belong to White. And as we’ve seen examples of, not every gem is going to match the color scheme of their Diamond. So pretty much any gem can belong to any Diamond.

I believe that maybe White Diamond is the ruler of all gems, including blue, yellow, and pink diamond. All of her colonies are pink’s/blue’s/yellow’s colonies combined on her mural. And homeworld is already theorized to be the sphere she is holding. I would theorize that she has no court, and only had an entourage, as well as a pearl: which i also believe is our Pearl. My reasoning? Because of her gem placement, and she includes every color of every diamond. I believe White Diamond may not have this coloration, mainly because white pearls in real life have a variety of colors. If she ended up having the same coloration as pearl, it would make sense that all gems fall under her rein, as well as pink, blue, and yellow.

One question, Rhodinite is fused with a pearl, so if we go off of everytime a gem fuses with another gem, their gem changes it's color to the color of the gem fusion so Rhodinite may have fused with Pink or White's pearl?

I feel like White Diamond's gems are a lot rarer than other gems. Like you could lump any of the gems we've seen , background, main character, referenced, or whatever into at least 2 Diamond groups. Or even just vaguely going by a color wheel. Yellow seems to be in charge of green, yellow, orange, and some red gems (or warm colors if you need a different color reference). Blue seems to be in charge of blue, purple, bluer and cooler shades of pink or red like with the amethysts from Earth (mauve? idk), and if we go by YD's gems maybe cooler shades of green (our peridot is a very yellow green, so maybe a blue-green peridot might be BD's idk). Pink was in charge of pink, red, purple, and orange gems. And for another thing, how many actual gems, precious stones, minerals, etc. are pure white or pure black or could fit with some kind of color system that WD could have in place? Just off the top of my head I can only think of pearl (all the diamonds have pearls, so that could be meaningless), diamond, quartz, fulgurite (which is a fancy form of quartz formed by lightning striking sand), obsidian, ivory (which doesn't really count because ivory isn't technically a gem and it's also organic) and onyx. Compared to that, how many yellow gems can you name? Blue gems? Pink? Purple? Red? Green? Orange? My point was that WD's gems might be so rare or unseen because they lack color; because in a sense they're so pure and untainted with color, and that's why they're rare. TL-DR version: White Diamond's gems haven't been seen or confirmed yet because they're so rare that they're few and far between. They're rare because WD wants gems without color; gems that could only belong to her and no other diamond.

I know this old but i think is.. Red= Belongs to pink diamond but since rubies are so common they became guards for every gems. I think Bismuth was originally one of White Diamond's gems (and probably Pearl, though until we know her canonical owner, that's just speculation). Prior to Pink Diamond's shattering, the gems the Diamonds are assigned seems to correlate somewhat like: Pink - Military/Soldiers (Amethysts, Jaspers, Rose Quartzes, (Rubies?)) Yellow - Technical/Strategic (Peridots, Nephrites, Emeralds, etc.) Blue - Diplomatic/Aristocracy (Sapphires, Lapis Lazulis, Aquamarines, etc.) This leaves one of the most important elements of an empire - Architecture/Construction. Bismuth, having a greyish skin tone and a rainbow gem would be a perfect match for White Diamond's court and if White Diamond were in charge of the construction and expansion of Homeworld's empire (since she seems to have the most authority of the Diamonds), it would make perfect sense for Bismuth to be one of her gems.

This is what I was thinking! With a few exceptions. I think that any secondary coloured gems belong to the diamonds that make up their colour. Ex. Peridot and emerald, they would belong to blue and yellow diamond or would belong to one of them. But! This would not mean that all peridots belong to yellow diamond alone (like you said) this would just mean that there would be peridots just for yellow and peridots just for blue. But emerald is under the authority of both diamonds because she bears both diamonds on her. This also explains why yellow got jasper and the Ruby’s (pink+yellow= orangeish/red) this would mean yellow would be the first able to claim those gems after pinks passing and blue got the amethysts (pink+blue=purple) she would also take the other jaspers too since yellow (probably) didn’t want them so it would be free for her to claim them. As for pearl and bismuth, these two gems would be under the authority of all the diamonds since all the colours are on their forms.

I feel like we may never actually see White Diamond. She's a God figure, and ALL gems are her gems. As you mentioned, White is the combination of all colour spectrums. We know the gems are actually "conscious manifestations of light", which means their soul/consciousness IS light, projected through their gem. A pure white diamond would act as a prism to create all gem consciousness of every colour. She may just be a floating space rock now, who became all gemkind when her light/consciousness met said space rock and split/projected. far out theory I guess, but it could happen!

Ironically, the creation of gems would have been through a form of 'fusion' then. White Diamond therefor being her gemstone/physical form while the light/soul projecting through it is her original form/consciousness before the fusion of light and gem. That 'soul' would be the opposite of the corruption lights, giving consciousness to gem forms rather than taking it away.

Maybe a gem or multiple gems in that giant permafusion (i forget her name but the caterpillar one) are white, after all when gems fuse their colours combine and she seams a pretty solid lighter colour so it seams maybe she had a few white gems in her (and at least one blue but that's off topic)

And second wouldnt white diamond have created the other diamonds and split herself into them and thats why they have small gems... and when light aka white hits a prism you get a veriaty of colors... and the most common of them is yellow blue and red. I say red becuase its common and pink is not and so that might explain her reasoning of why she is around a diamond... because she might not be able to handle the task of conquering worlds and why she is so short and is only has one colony... cause she might be an off color like all of the others... thats probably why she has purple red orange and pink gems... We can know which gem is which by looking at there gem placement in the chest means blue or yellow at the stomach means pink and at the forehead is white

I personally believe that White Diamond made our Pearl. Our Pearl was the first Pearl ever made. She was the diamond’s first assistant. She was shared among the diamonds for sometime, until things got pretty business for one Pearl to do alone. Then came the thought of the diamonds having their own Pearl. Our Pearl (the original) stayed with White Diamond since she was her creator and the other diamonds (besides Pink Diamond) made their own Pearl. Years later, Pink arose and she wasn’t ready to have her own Pearl just yet. So, White Diamond let Pink Diamond borrow her Pearl to experience how it is to have a Pearl. The responsibility and the leadership was tested. Of course Pink Diamond passed because of our Pearl guiding her in the right direction of being a true Diamond. Then, Pink Diamond was awarded with her own Pearl made just for her. I think our Pearl wears every color scheme of the Diamonds because she was the first Pearl every made and she was a personal assistant to every Diamond. That’s my theory.... 🙈

Possibilities for White Diamond's court: Howlite, Selenite, Danburite, Moonstone, Goshenite... there's a bunch available. It is possible that all Gems are White Diamond's Gems, and that's why we haven't seen any white Gems. Or it could just be that White Diamond's court is the Gem civilization's equivalent of the 1%, and that they haven't been seen because they are above any kind of work that we've seen Gems do up to this point. My argument against Pearl being WD's pearl (or Pink Diamond's pearl) is that Yellow Pearl and Blue Pearl didn't recognize her. As Pearl said, "Not all pearls know each other." However, she could be a diamond's pearl if the other pearls didn't have a concept of reformation. If they are never allowed poofed/allowed to reform, they likely wouldn't assume that Pearl is WD/PD's pearl since she doesn't look exactly the same way she did 5,000 years ago.

1:28 no, "The Answer" is before Pink Diamonds shattering. As you can see in the episode "Sworn to the sword" when connie, steven and pearl warped to the sky arena (which btw is exactly the same where blue diamond was) you can see a gigantic diamond insignia which still shows pink diamond. If Pink was shattered before "The Answer" Blue would definitly have acted differently and wouldn't even be on Earth because of the War that started right after Pink's shattering. And if i remember correctly, Rose was a recognised threat for hundreds of years before pink diamonds shattering how blue zircon stated in "The Trial". And thats why Blue Diamond asked Sapphire to look into the future for her to get rid of rose, the recognised threat. I hope you understand my thoughts, i think my english is pretty good for a german.

One thing I'd like to suggest (aside from the obvious discovery of Pearl's actual owner)... what if White Diamond doesn't have any gems? A lot of theories are that she's the most powerful of all the diamonds, and doesn't have any feelings whatsoever, unlike YD and BD. So, what if she sensed that gems could be imperfect and rebel (ex: Crystal Gems), so she doesn't put her trust on them whatsoever. That would explain the machine with the white diamond on it. Contrary to YD and BD, she might only put her trust into non-gem robotic soldiers that were only programmed for one thing and thus cannot have the capacity of thinking of anything else. That also explains why we haven't seen any of her gems around yet, and that no Pearl seems to belong to her.
