Looking forward to the videos coming up on how to squeeze more power. Doing my supercharging and engine swapping the 1uz into my gen 1 surf this year and learnt so much from your videos so far! Got gifted your engine swap and prep guide for Christmas too!

What a great idea for a present. The guide comes with some of my time so if you reply to the email the guide was sent to or make sure you mention it you get some of my time throughout the swap providing you are respectful of my time. Cheers Kelvin

I've always wondered how the 1uz would go supercharged if you unlocked it's potential first. Big intake and exhaust and the restriction at the valves holds everything back. seen backyarders porting 1uz's but more bad then good could be done. I can't wait to see you explanation on it.

yes, I see guys talking about bigger ports, yet in most cases bigger is not better. More to follow on this. Cheers Kelvin

@@CartuneNZ what are your thoughts on in my 3uz(stock) if I gutted the cats and ported the heads myself. I’ve never ported before but I want to learn and got to learn somewhere and just want to access as much basic power out of my engine with no major changes yet

@@isaelgarcia3226you can easily wreck a head by porting it too much (definitely dont gasket match) the best thing for someone who doesnt have access to a flow bench to do is blend the short radius for the intake valve and the bowl right behind the valves. A lot of people like hogging out material from the ports but it just kills velocity most of the time, aftermarket valves usually have a better stem to valve head profile where you can pick up cfm across the whole lift range too. That with a good set of cams, and a bit more rpm and the uz will make noticeable improvements. These motors have short strokes and high rod ratios so piston velocity at lower rpms is actually relatively low. More rpm will help with volumetric efficiency. The vvti motors have decent intakes so that helps too

Hey kelvin, perfect timing for this video. Ive just finished porting my heads and have been weighing up what other things i want to throw at the motor ie. Supercharger and cams/valve springs. M90 supercharger is almost a guarantee at this point plus some forged rods for the gen 2 block. What do you reckon about keeping the standard cams when supercharging? Worth the extra breathability, im only going for around 400hp reliably as well. Cheers, kyle.

Possibly talking to the wrong member of my team. Would you like me to email the person who may be able to assist you? Or would you like me to outsource to a qualified contractor?

Kelvin, mystery ECU? Not one of your bailiwick?

No, its getting a link ecu, just someone else is doing that part. The owner is going lots of stuff himself, which is great, and has mates helping which is awesome. Im sure there will be phone calls as I've been the technical helpline.
