@@billybobbob3003 It’s a fantastic engine. LMK when someone designs a dead simple boost controller that nearly anyone can build and install in under thirty minutes for $35 at Home Depot that will instantly raise the LS’s output by 100WHP like my 3S-GTE or my 2JZ-GTE. Only a few of things you forgot. 1. The heads are interchangeable, the better flowing 2uz and 3uz heads can fit on a 1uz block and vice versa. The 2uz has the best flow for FI, 3uz best velocity head for N/A builds. 2. Australia has been racing this engine for years and regularly gets 440hp out of them N/A with built heads cams and motor. 3. The second highest power 1UZ is the Larson LE1 Groundfighter. 2000hp. First was the HKS V8 drag supra making 2500hp. 4. Procharger is the easiest/most inexpensive way to get 1UZ over 600hp. XAT motorsports sells engine internals and collins makes adapters for almost any trans for 1UZ. 5. You can rev this motor over 8k stock and it will take it like a champ. 🏆

@@Rekt-M8-v4 Toyota cataloging uses a G to signify a high performance head and "F" to signify one that is for low rev torque. The G"s are typically done as collaborations with Yamaha and will have their casting mark. The 1UZ never had a "G" variant and I was curious about how long it took for this to be corrected and posted the result in case anyone else was thinking the same thing.

YEAH! I'm from Germany and it's a pretty rear engine around here. But I just LOVE the SC400. So it took me 10 YEARS to get one. (There are only around 20 of them on the german streets right now...) BUT I GOT MINE! I LOVE IT! It's a stock 1994 (build in 1993) SC400 first gen. And maybe it's gone get some work done... Maybe ;-)

My jaw dropped when I saw an LS400 in the junkyard with the 1UZ-FE because I had never heard of the V8. I really wanted to take it home and figure out what to do with it later. (Completely out of the question, of course.)

Before the UZ Toyota had the V series V8s but generally they were only used for the domestic luxury car market. Another engine that's needs one of these videos is the Chevy LS V8.

14:39 My 1997 LS400 didn't have VVTI. Pretty sure that became available with the facelift that happened from 1998-2000 before the LS430 in 2001.

Might want to make a note that the crank went “back” to 4 bolt mains when the head got changed to vvti. Another reason why those who want to boost use the early ones. Going to do a vid on the Ford Cosworth (YB?) engine in the Sierra and Escort cosworth? Or the Subaru EJ20T?

I loved my Toyota Soarer V8 (sc400) but it was not a great car to drive harshly around town as it was just too heavy for the power the 1uz made. But It really came alive on the 100km/h sweeping bends of mountain highways. It was also very thirsty around town for me but nothing every went wrong with the engine which is a first and for any car I've owned.

Yoooo! Thanks for covering this engine man! Also I got some questions for stuff... 1. I’m headed into a mechanic course and I was wondering if you had any advice on the subject? 2. In terms of v8 engines and air filters, what are your thoughts on harrops hurricane manifold? 3. Do you have any plans to cover rotary engines? Again thanks for covering this engine man!
@AndrewKidd14145

Sammy Welson rotary is a different game. Piston engines are easier than rotaries and if u wanna get into it practice with old discarded parts and learn to port rotary engines to make power

Sammy Welson the reason why I say discarded parts is because it’s easy to mess up a iron or a rotor housing by not doing something right.

You NEED to make a video on one of the Volvo redblocks engines. Solid, reliable, they kinda were the first 4 bangers with Turbozzz. Def need to be known more. Its not pretty, its kinda agricultural, sounds like crap but takes boost like crazy.
