This is one of the best videos I've seen on how to carve a ball and claw on wood 😃👍 What type of wood is this that you are using ?? That chisel cuts through the wood like a hot knife in soft butter !! Glen 😃👍

Very nice. I carved a claw holding an egg once. Keeping it round was challenging.

Fascinating video. There must be a lot of chisel sharpening to get one of these carved.

My piece has claw feet and I don’t like them. Can you do a video on how to replace them?

I came looking for tips and tricks that are used to make these, and it turns out the trick is to be skilled and just do it lol

What is the "real time" necessary to complete the ball and claw carving - I know the video is ~1 1/2 hours, but there is probably a lot if direction in that...

Fair question. I'd estimate a single carving could be done in a steady two or three hours, and if it were a technique you were skilled with I'm sure that could be cut down significantly. If you're starting out I'd leave at least three hours, and plan for more.

Hello, I have just carved my first ball and claw. It took me many hours. Probably at least 8. I went slow however.. it's not the carving aspect. It is knowing what and where to remove the wood to get a nice and continuous shape!

No more stupid music! I’d rather hear the chisel and hammer
