@@philipmarsh3522 I didn’t say a screen is a bad idea (doesn’t have to be large though, if your eyesight is that poor you shouldn’t be driving anyways). But I see little benefit of a digital gauge cluster over an analog one. It’s just cheap looking. You don’t need a ton of information to drive, it’s not a complex machine to operate.
@philipmarsh35225 ай бұрын
@@henrikpetersson3463 I’m just teasing a bit. In all seriousness I really think those old analogue gauges are much more elegant and cool. I just use the fake one that is meant to look like the analogue ones anyway. For me it’s a bit like a watch, I can visualize the time faster using something that looks like what I used for decades. But I can also see the utility of being able to customize the dash depending on the kind of driving you’re doing, too. I suspect I’m a bit older than you, so you might not remember previous changes that were also not popular - like anti-lock brakes and traction control (“If you need that stuff you shouldn’t be driving a car!”) or turbochargers (“A 6.0 liter engine is a real engine and doesn’t need something that will break!”) and even for some purists cup holders. So, we’ll all eventually get used to the new technology and it will just be normal. What does really bother me is that some of the things in my new $90k car require a subscription or they won’t work. I probably won’t ever get used to that one.

Well in this car the electrification mostly aids performance with little MPG improvement. Personally I'm really happy about it because it fixes the thing I hate most about turbo Porsches which is lag. The discrepancy between the 0-60mph vs the 5-60mph times are often more than a second which I hate. One of the main reasons I always disliked turbo Porsches. Some version's have less lag but it's always at least a little. The NA H6 on the other hand are perfect and symphonic. This electrification should mostly eliminate the lag which is what I've wanted in turbo cars forever.

In their first ever attempt they had a faster car then tesla who had been doing EVs since 2007. In 2020 the taycan was the fastest EV on the planet beating the fastest tesla at the time. Then in late 2021 tesla had to add an entire extra motor in the tri motor plaid and it beat the taycan turbo s in a straight line but lost around nurumbring. Now porsche has created a new platform and motors in the 2024 taycan turbo s and turbo gt but didn't need to add an extra. Instead retained a lightweight 2 motor setup making it the fastest track sedan on the planet and destroying every plaid lap time on every track its been on. Theirs a video already out of the taycan turbo gt beating the plaid in a straight line aswell. Imagine what 3 of porsches new motors would do if they only cared about straight line speed.. it would be a mid 8s car and easily the fastest car in a straight line. Beating the lucid and everyone. But they also care about handling and braking. Nonetheless the new turbo s and gt are the best all around performance EVs on the market. @Thri11seeker6 ай бұрын
@davidkn you can run a hybrid drive train with a manual. The ferrari 296 could be done with a manual if they chose to. Also if you haven't used the buttons to turn on accessories, then try to start or put the brake and hit button at same time you will notice a latency and if you have to hit button twice it increases that latency it's extremely noticeable in cars like the land rover defender or civic type r, with the defender if you put it in park and then hit the button right after then it won't turn off because the delay to register park, civic type r takes ages to start if you had accessories on and I don't mean slow crank I mean delay before starter goes. Honestly, a manual hybrid would be sick because no one would stall them because you would have torque to get you going if it was linked to the flywheel or crank and if it was an electric motor separated to do a awd system it could get you going before you dump clutch like the lmp1/prototypes.

Hate this on my car. Going to get them paint matched some day soon before I PPF the thing

Hey Mat, can you run this new entry 911 with 396hp vs an A45s with 421hp, please!!!!! 🙏

If all you care about is 0-100 times, then obvs get the A45s (or a Tesla)

911 base will be quicker the 60 and the 1/4 mile too

@@lemcakes32422not sure who would rather have a Tesla over either the 911 or the a45s. As a daily purely for your commute? maybe, if you are not a motoring enthusiast. but in terms of performance, build quality, attractiveness, joy factor, and pretty much any other category, either of those cars are more desirable than a tesla. A tesla is a one trick pony with 0-60 and is soulless in my opinion. The only one I would truly want would be a model s plaid with the track pack. Obviously to each his own, but I would without a second's hesitation take a base 911 over either of those cars... There is no substitute.

The .2 is still a great car. But I'm plenty happy with my .1 version, with its analog parts that make it feel just a tad more special.

A lot more special with the analog tach.

Going to get one soon! Turbo-s cabriolet (911)

Lucky guy! A Turbo S without a roof? That's probably about as close to pure joy that one can get. I much prefer the hardtop's looks personally, but the experience of a convertible Porsche is truly blissful. Enjoy! I'm a jealous man. I hope to get there one day before they become unobtainable collectibles. Hope you drive the hell out of it! 💪🏼
