Adverages 60mpg all day long around town. Been a pleasure to own so far and she has absolutely no regrets buying it. Having 7 years warrenty for piece of mind motoring is definitely reassuring. We would recommedend to anyone to buy one and definitely search around for offers as there are some great ones to be found. I got mine on Friday upgrading from a 2018 fiesta and it is absolutely amazing. You have to adjust to driving it for example the dial putting it in drive, I’ve moved forward in neutral a couple of times. Reversing is insane as the car moves you backwards and you control the brake rather than the accelerator however it is a really nippy vehicle. It feels much heavier than the fiesta so grips the roads so much better and taking corners at speed feels so much better because the regen kicks in so you don’t feel as though you’re going to crash every single time. I would hugely recommend this car. My only negative point so far and it might just be my car but the boot needs a good slam to shut it properly.

The 7 year warranty is a little misleading, things like the infotainment system are only covered for the first 3 years, engine, gearbox, suspension etc for 3 years, the only thing that seems to be covered from year 4 onwards is anti-perforation and the high voltage battery is actually covered for 8 years & 100k miles, so I wouldn’t be crowing about a 7 year warranty giving peace of mind for a brand that seems to be unreliable, when not much is actually covered after 3 years

@cpollard19812 ай бұрын
@ Very true, I was merely making a point as he said MG finished bottom for the last 2 years in a row for reliability and then mentioned that you get a 7 year warranty, as if to ease any potential fears, because the warranty really isn’t a full 7 year coverage of the things that’ll likely go wrong
@mgmarrison2 ай бұрын
Spot on! I’ve recently discovered a very similar situation with the MG ZS (Petrol variant). That being said, I’m yet to hear of any warranty which doesn’t start to degrade/ become more difficult to claim under over its term. The MG warranty does appear to be one of the worst.
@cpollard19812 ай бұрын
@ I definitely agree, Kia’s 7 years does reduce what’s covered but essentially, MG are advertising a 3 year warranty as a 7 year warranty and unless you do your research, none of the dealers actually tell you

All European car brands are losing tremendous value as a used vehicle in the US, while in China they are being bought less (with huge discounts when buying new vehicles) and less every year. If you want to believe in fairy tales about the "superiority" of Europe and the "subhumans" from China - go ahead. Pure electric vehicles are fundamentally more efficient than hybrids due to basic physics and engineering principles. Electric motors convert about 85-90% of their energy to motion, while internal combustion engines typically achieve only 20-30% efficiency. This isn't a matter of opinion - it's thermodynamics. In a hybrid system like the MG3's, you're carrying both powertrains, which means: 1. Extra weight from having two complete systems 2. Energy losses from converting between them 3. Mechanical complexity that reduces overall system efficiency 4. Additional points of failure and maintenance requirements The electric motor in a hybrid has to be sized smaller to accommodate the combustion engine, which means it can't deliver the full performance potential of electric propulsion. Meanwhile, the combustion engine operates sub-optimally because it has to work around the hybrid system. The laws of physics make it impossible for a hybrid to match the efficiency of a pure electric drivetrain - every energy conversion step introduces losses. While hybrids made sense as a transitional technology 15 years ago when battery technology and charging infrastructure were less developed, today they represent an unnecessary compromise given the capabilities of modern electric vehicles.
@FrankiePo89Ай бұрын
I'm learning something. What about those PHEV from BYD (I think the same for this MG too), apparently it is powered by battery with a fuel generator for charging the battery for extended range? I'm confused about all these different types of hybrid.
@KennJordanАй бұрын
@ There are indeed different types of hybrids, but they all share the same fundamental flaws. The BYD system you're referring to (and similar setups) is called a 'series hybrid' or 'range extender' - where the petrol engine acts solely as a generator rather than directly driving the wheels. Whilst this might sound cleverer than traditional 'parallel' hybrids like the MG3, it's still carrying around a complete petrol engine, fuel tank and all the associated complexity just to charge the battery. You're essentially lugging around an entire petrol-powered generator that adds weight, requires maintenance, and still keeps you tied to fossil fuels. It's rather like carrying a petrol generator in your boot to power your home appliances instead of just using the mains electricity - unnecessarily complex and inefficient. If you need extended range, modern pure EVs already offer 300+ miles on a single charge. The answer isn't to add a petrol engine - it's to invest in better batteries and charging infrastructure.
