Its the interior where there is the biggest difference, not to mention the improvement with panel gaps! The car you tested, Matt, doesn't have the leather mid section to the fascia, and that looks and feels much better. I drove one earlier in the month and it was parked next to an old one. When you see them both together, its clearly obvious just what a huge improvement the Mk 2 is.

I have this car in Santorini black R dynamic copper trim with black 20 inch wheels and I love it. It hasn't missed a beat. The boot space looks small but with one rear seat folded down it will fit everything from a huge shopping trip to costco including a Little Giant ladder. I have driven it on dirt road but not in mud yet. It handled 45 degree bull dust bends no problem at all. People who don't drive this car and bag it for unreliability etc should be ignored - they know nothing about it.

I got a silver Evoque R-Dynamic six months ago, and I loved it. However, the electronic issues just made it impossible to live with. First the reverse camera (both in the mirror and the screen) refuses to show up, than the whole screen doesn't start up and sometimes finally starts 20 minutes after the startup (which is bad because most functions are accessed from the screen), and a bunch of other stuff. The build quality also was pretty hard to live with, it basically had moisture in the headlights four days after leaving the lot. Good job Land Rover, I replaced my Evoque with a Macan. Never buying a JLR again, EVER.

I’ve just sold the previous gen Evoque because in one day the steering rack suddenly failed costing £3k and the turbo went at the same time costing £1.8k so I’d like to know more on reliability and what is likely to go wrong. The JLR dealer we used for repairs said “oh yes, both very common problems”. For me reliability rules this out unless I’m reassured otherwise.

The last time I bought Evoque in 2016, it broke down 10 times in 2 years. Sold it to someone who called me 2 years later to say the engine stopped working. Same issue with my brother in maintenance. Also, the greabox is the worst, it has no clue which gear to be in, absolutely clueless, sometimes its instant torque else prefers sleeping when you press the peddle. Will never leave BMW's now... never an issue and gearbox is wonderful and maintenance is minimal. Had 535i and 528i at the same time..
