It’s time for an incredible petrol vs electric drag race!
The Lamborghini Revuelto is back, and it’s going head-to-head against the almighty Tesla Model S Plaid! So let’s see how these two incredible machines compare.
Starting with the Lambo, it’s powered by a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 along with THREE electric motors! These combine to produce 1,015hp and 1,076Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it weighs in at 1,772kg. If you’re looking to pick one up, it’ll cost you at least £447,000!
Then alongside it we have the Tesla. It’s powered by three electric motors, and these combine to produce 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque. It’s also well up on weight compared to the Revuelto, tipping the scales at 2,539kg! It’s a whole lot cheaper, mind, costing around £115,000.
So they’re almost neck-and-neck when it comes to power, but will the extra weight bring the Tesla down? Or will the instant power release propel it to victory? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

@@km7101 I guess it depends on what you'd define as the break in period, I'd imagine most of them are tested for a certain amount of time then rebuilt to be "brand new" but with confirmed working parts and confirmed reliability You'd still technically have to break in the engine if I'm right (ngl could be completely wrong I'm not sure on how Lambo does it just a guess) but a lot less than if it was completely brand new, would mostly be getting all the seals and gaskets and stuff fully seated and such Like I said I'm not 100%, I'd think they'd test the engines/trans before hand given its an expensive car with a hybrid system that would need to be calibrated so even if they don't test the engine for any amount of real mileage they'd still have to test it with the hybrid system if they have any kind of real QC at the factory

Soft limiter is a limiter to limit the loudness of a vehicle otherwise meaning if it was without one it wouldn't be road legal do to regulations it also could depending on the car limit the torque of a vehicle preventing it from overloud of to much power

The way the Plaid keeps pulling at the TOP END is the craziest thing about it I think. Insane car.

Tesla developed carbon sleeved motors for the Plaid in colab with SpaceX, advantage is that htey can spin at some crazy high rpms (over 20k) while maintaining the power. To put my words in action the Taycan Turbo S (don't know for the new one but from what I've seen is very similar only with power increase) had a difficult to develop and heavy two speed gearbox and managed to retain 60% of full power @250kmh, Plaid has 90% power remaining at over 300kmh with one gear. Top speed of the Model S Plaid when unlocked is probably around 360kmh if not more (some guys unlocked it and it easily did 216mph, you have a video). Now try to imagine what could Tesla do from a proper 2 door sports car for 300k if their family sedan can beat a 1500hp Chiron in a 1/2 mile race and even in braking (at least with track pack)...

No doubt Lambo could have invested in making a lightning fast electric performance car but they have to cater to a customer base that values experience over speed (i.e. it needs a V12). The Lucid Air Saphire is quicker than a Plaid showing that using electric tech to make a car quick in a straight line really isn't that hard. Besides we're reaching the limits of performance. Eventually ICE cars and EV's will become indistinguishable in performance cause they both have the same massive hurdle. Rubber and Tarmac.

@@jonnowocky8179 Not true, actually. The stopping distance for the Model S Plaid is actually better than, say, a Porsche Taycan. They fade very quickly though, so in track conditions they're very bad. Most cars don't actually stop faster with bigger brakes. The stopping distance is determined mostly by the grip of the tyres. As long as the brakes are strong enough to lock up the wheels they're no longer the determining factor.

Being affordable would be nice but at the performance specs of the Plaid and the Revuelto I don't think that is possible. With that said I love my FK8 Honda Civic Type. I am never selling that car. It is a fraction of the cost of these cars, it is reliable, it is practical it has one of the best 6 speed manuals in the business.

For just under $100K the Tesla Model S Plaid is the very best car you can get for the money. Period. There might be a few other EVs out there that are a bit faster like the Rimac Nevera, but at 20 times more money... so the Model S still wins. Of course it would be nice to have a Tesla with the shape of a Lamborghini, but well, if things go as planned, the new Tesla Roadster will be filling that gap... and still be cheap if it stays around the price that was originally announced ($200K to $250K) but even if the price goes a bit over, it is still OK, mostly if the SpaceX package is really available and can do 0 to 60 mph in 1 second or less. I'm glad to be driving a Model 3 Performance, and my goal is to get the Model S Plaid later on (hopefully). Cannot be happier being part of the Tesla family. Cheers

It’s like.. i paid how much to keep seeing that Tesla either walk away from me, or be right next to me? Ouch. Yeah.. the Revuelto is cool and all.. but it’s just a dumb millionaires toy. Most customers looking at cars from your POV would probably rather buy something like a Jeep Trackhawk, prividing pretty close performance and a milion times better versatiliy, than S plaid. Family life isn't about drag racing. And tesla is still just a toy. Lambo is a piece of art and engineering. And you get 90% of everything at that price. And you don’t have to deal with a thieving dealership. A plaid starts at $88k. And this isn’t a.. starts at like other car companies. You can just buy a base $88k Plaid and you get all the toys minus color options and track pack brakes, tires and unlocked top end. Still does like 170 mph in the base Plaid. So.. you’re WAY off on your ideas of price. And when you start to think about ownership costs.. Tesla’s only get WAY better. If you think a souped up Jeep is the future.. or more practical and family friendly.. lol.. well.. good, enjoy it. I know what works best in my world. P.S. if you need more space for a family, you can get an X Plaid for $93k and still be bonkers fast with all the toys. And if you go with standard X.. crazily.. it’s even cheaper than an S right now with the tax incentives.

Check Haggerty's Hyunday ionic n 5 beat 3 other much more prestigious brands, including Lamborghini, I think. It's just crazy, the power and torque of electric drive. I think electric motor should be used in conjuction with forced induction ICE (e.g., turbo), where electric drives the low RPM while FI drives the higher RPM. It would be complex but interesting.

It is faster though, depending on what you're measuring - off the line, it's the driver. Top speed is 217mph, Plaid is only 200mph. Also faster in some rolling races, although you'd have to run a few of them to figure out which car is better at what.
