9:40 I recently had a BMW Dealer explain to me the reason you have to press a button to open the fuel tank on PHEVs. When your car/fuel tank gets hot some of the petrol becomes a gas. In normal cars when starting the engine that gas is safely burned, but PHEVs can drive without the engine running. Therefor they have a pressurised fuel tank. It is on all PHEVs and when you get a normal petrol/diesel 508 it will not have that button.

Thanks for this review. I'm french so I obviously can't be 100% objective but I do find in terms of look it's the best SW available on the market today. Everything is not premium, for sure. However I find this is a very good compromise between "cheap" brands and premium/german cars. Its price does also fit with this assessment. Cheers from France

About the wheels ..sure they look like Peugeot didn't make much of an effort but they are not bad at all..... And getting something that suites it better may not be that hard to fine either .... Again it's an estate car and they don't go down well with people who are used to seeing one... In my country however these are extremely rare and may be considered exotic.... this will for sure standout if someone buys one here

New 308 is coming next year. 308 had that Gti badge and one of the best chassis of the segment. 308 too could have a pse brand with an hybrid technology. Inspired by the 308 r hybrid show car which has 500bhp. About Ds, the premium luxury brand, ds7 crossback has already an hybrid version 4x4 300bhp and the new sedan ds9 is available with the hybrid 225 300 and 360 bhp, which for France its good ( thanks to the government). 😁😁😁😁🙂

Cruise control is in the same place on all Peugeot’s and works perfectly. Just lower a finger to activate it. Too many people want to look at controls to use them thus not look at the road. But I prefer the 3008/5008 interior with the raised touchscreen as you can still see the road but, you never point out on any Peugeot icockpit review that the sat nav can also be displayed in the centre of the dash between rev counter and speedo. Makes it really easy to use while looking ahead.

With AC charge, the AC to DC converter is in the car. So it means for fast AC charge you need big converter (price, weight,...). It's a small battery so it's not that good for fast charging, look after charing curves, drip charging,... (for comparison try to fil a glas of water with a fire hose) Most people will buy for fiscal reasons and probably not charge it very often. The others will may be charge at work over day (slow charge) if they have the opportunity or at home if they have to much photovoltaic production. And if it's empty you don't care, you go full petrol. I don't think of someone using that kind of vehicle as an EV, the range is to short. So for all those reasons it's 100% logic that Peugeot didn't fit a big AC/DC converter as standard. If it's not to bad for the battery, a quick DC charge plug would be nice if you are low in battery in a town like London where only EV can ride.

Matt, first of all you have to choose GT version of 508sw to compare and to see the real beauty and luxury interior. From front to back and interior everything is excellent. Maybe engine is not very powerful(225HP) but do you need it in City? no so why bother spending more money? This is a Hybrid (PHEV) version and whole purpose is to emit low gases and drive more economically and full electric too as needed. In my opinion, you should buy it.

There are a lot of station wagon models in Europe (like my BMW 540i touring), which are not offered in the US. Is it a marketing mistake, of are you only ohne in million who likes wagons?

@@gerdthunfisch1838 Hi, there are some who like wagons, but when they are brought here, no one buys them. There are only a few to choose from: Mercedes E Class, Audi A4/A6 allroad models, S6 Avant, Subaru Outback (not really a wagon) and Volve V60/V90 Cross Country. There might be 1-2 others. Yes, Europe has a great selection, but SUV's are starting to take over in Europe too. Enjoy your 5 Series!

Phev vehicles tend to have special fuel tank as petrol can go "off" and most people would try to use electric to go around in towns so a petrol can last long time. Btw, 330e operates the same- you can open the charger cap when the doors are unlocked but fuel cap you need to press on the button under the steering wheel to release it
