It would be okay with some clever writing, if developers didn't try to pass it as a real person. For example intro male voice could be rebranded to computer system acting as a middleman between organizers and racers, as it's stated sponsors prefer to stay out of spotlights. Female voice could be rebranded as onboard computer acting as digital manager of individual drivers. Player: "Are you AI?" Alice: "I prefer term "digital personality" ". Suddenly generated voice doesn't feel out of place, and it explaining game concepts and mechanics seem logical. And when you need lines of real people, they could use recordings made by friends and family members of developers, like games often used to do in old days. Just keep lines short and on topic, and professional acting is not needed.

Oh yeah that voice acting is 100% AI. Its not unnatural but you can just tell it's not being done by an actual human. Barely sitting in that gray zone making it slightly harder to distinguish. Example: At 0:54, he says "StreetNET" with a lot of emphasis with a very short pause and then continues the sentence like normal likely because they fed the AI that exact sentence structure with the colons and so it emphasised that word. The monologuing is also rather monotonous. The same thing applies to Alice at 1:57 when she REALLY emphasises on "StreetNET" because of the colon.

you need to be on higher RPM, near the rev limit to get the nitro boost. its not going to suddenly raise your speed to 280km/h and if you’re on lower RPM, the nitros would drain faster. it’s a first release after all. at least they can make a functioning game.

I must be the only person in these comments enjoying the game lol. I get that it’s not like quality but CarX is a very small company still, and they’ve been adding content and fixing things in their games for YEARS, so sure it has some problems rn, but I think they’ll be fixed in the long run. On top of that, the only thing I care about is how much fun I personally have, what I like doing is turning on Spotify, driving around in freemode, and customizing cars and this game absolutely nails Freemode driving, especially since their drifting physics are very fun and they actually have traffic (unlike literally every modern open world racing game lol) sure it’s not a deep game that you’ll get immersed in and wanna play 20 times, but for $20, I can see myself dumping a lot of time into this whenever I just wanna relax and drive/drift around in a cool car

The game doesn't really seem to have its own "style" or aesthetic. it's trying to look like Forza Horizon and the recent NFS games at the same time. It's not a major complaint, but it wouldn't have hurt if they made things look a bit more unique. The map design for example is already pretty solid imp so definitely a massive missed opportunity here.

For a game releasing during a strike of VO actors over use of AI, not helping optics. Looks fun, but I feel like you should either pay voice actors or just use subtitles. If you can’t afford voice actors and don’t have people willing to do it for free, don’t go low and circumvent something important for both art and artists. This game just wants to be like NFS too much. I don't have any problem with NFS, but I wasn't expecting that CarX Street would literally inspire too much from it. The HUD is literally inspired from NFS 2015 (same during a race with the positions and all), the post-race screen gives me NFS Payback vibes, and the option menus are quite similar to the ones in modern NFS (Unbound, Heat...). I think the devs should give it more identity in order to make CarX Street more unique, and not some NFS clone. There's some potential though, they just need time to fix it. The physics are quite... peculiar... I don't know how to say it but it feels quite strange. Sometimes I ended up over-steering with my Civic EG (not like the Porsche from the tutorial since the Civic is FWD). I bought a MR2 after and I think the MR2 is more stable... I guess... Sometimes I have the feeling the brakes aren't that efficient, maybe with high performance brakes this is issue is fixed. But it's not a total catastrophe for me, it just needs some tweaking. It's just that the driving experience feels really arcade but at the same time there's some realism, but not working in perfect harmony. Is it simcade ? Is it arcade ? I don't know and I'm still thinking of what they were thinking by making those physics. The fuel consumption and pneumatic wear despite being a nice touch for some realism and pushing us to take car of our car somehow, it doesn't really bring anything to the game. I'm sure this system was present on the mobile game in order to prevent players from playing too much and come back later or to pay or some stuff like that. Now that we don't have to worry about being too low on money because the activities doesn't rewards you that much it's main purpose is now inexistant, and yet it may still be a nuisance to some players. Since we have online this could be interesting for roleplay maybe, but I'm pretty sure this wasn't intended by the developers. At some point fuel just becomes an upgrade you'll buy frequently since there's a "sport" or "super" kind of fuel that boosts the car's performances. But seriously the AI voices are a big no no. First AI voices doesn't feel natural and we don't feel any personality in the characters. To me it's important to make the characters feel alive, enough to make us like them. And second, using AI for dubbing is quite questionnable... You know ethics and all... I won't go over this, you probably know the drill. But if you don't have any budget for actors, just don't pay a subscription to some website that generates AI voices, just place some text or something, I would literally prefer this than listening to AI generated voices all day. Same thing for the characters design since I heard that it got AI generated too. (But I'm not quite sure for that information, it needs to be verified). I didn't had any big troubles with optimisation, it worked fine on my laptop. The V-Sync though, it didn't do it's job on my part. For the Steam Deck, I don't know how it runs, I didn't installed the game on it, and I don't want to go above 2h of play time on it because I'm currently thinking about refunding the game because I got disappointed. In the end, my opinion on the game is kinda... Mixed... But I still hope CarX Technologies will fix most of those problems, because this game isn't a total mess I'm pretty sure of it. Only time can tell... But now, time to look out for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown and the return of Tokyo Xtreme Racer next year. 👀

A massive critic, it might not be all that constructive The AI arts are really just blatant, it even feels odd to look at; AI voice over is just soo boring, there's no emotion, emphasis, nothing, it's just soo robotic soo inhuman; SFX like the race count down, end of the race, XP counters, etc feels soo generic and out of life; The HUD is soo unnatural? i feel like i've seen that HUD before in some other car game; The Map feels soo much like Forza Horizon, won't necessarily blame it it's just unnoriginal; The end screen is what killed me, from the HUD that looks like the crew motorfest goes to the end screen that looks like Unbound (??????????); Graphics looks good, but as i'm someone who never bothered with it that much it's ok i guess; Tuning screen looks like Unbound's, i'll not say it's necessarily unoriginal, it has it's positives and negatives; The OST is somewhat generic but i'm no one to speak upon that as it's only 30 minutes or soo; The feeling of the cars looks cool, more of a grip racing type game but as seen on the tuning page, i suppose it'll go both ways, both grip racing and in the middle of it you'll be able to drift or something, i'm still not anyone to talk upon it (as i only play NFS Pro Street and older) TL;DR it just feels out of touch, the game itself feels like it doesn't have an identity, an example: Pro Street has that whole racing festival look, Carbon has that night street racing vibes that Underground 1 and 2 has (as well as midnight club), Forza horizon one ups the festival formula making it look more modern, unbound has those more animation kind identity that weirdly enough fits as an identity (despite the game were a flop, but still looks cool), the Acting is blatantly AI, Menu SFX, not even the countdown does it right, Rockstar with GTA5 Races does it better, it's just soo lacking it's abysmal. I truly hope this game can get some actors to play the cast of characters, that we have some designer to actually suggest a new visual and identity of the game and i hope this game doesn't become a flop, as racing games are cool to play, experience and even explore and replay it again and again

I was like yeah definitely AI voice then i saw the character art xD. But if the game is good and fun, doesn't hurt to much if resources were allocated to more important parts. Making dynamic story telling and integrating it into the gameplay, doesn't seem to be the developers stong suit. There good parts that suprise me (lore of the starter cars) but is then followed by oversights (repeating dialogue, or dialogue that just doesn't seem to fit the situation). The first races seem pretty lackluster and empty. They should have not removed the traffic or added npcs that specifically drive in your way (probably just time base and how far you progressed into the race). The reason for that is probably that AI race opponents can't avoid tarffic, and taht would be more apparent with more AI drivers. The lack if them leads to no competition and just start-drive-finish. Tho the map and ui looks cool even if just copypasta and inconsistent.
