My mother worked in a movie theater in LA back in the late 40's. They would have these big premiers and all the people would come out. She said the two nicest people/stars she ever met were James Stewart and Cary Grant. She said other stars would come in acting pretentious and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge the girls that brought them to their seats...but not those two. She said Doris Day was very nice as well.

It true about being one type of person who is good and a little bit funny to be interesting and be more realistic actor and was a handsome guy who was not playing a part of a story about doing a story he was naturally funny about and a giving at unexpected gifts to just to say you are special to be my friend .The movie I like best was To catch a thief who steals diamond and very expensive jewelry from women and is not him but a woman and a young girl who falls in love with him .And Alfred' Hitchcock is sitting in a bus with .....

My grandma (born in 1908) was in love with Cary Grant. I doubt she ever missed one of his pictures. This is how I was introduced to him. I've loved this man as long as I can remember. Cary Grant was, and still is, one of my very favorite actors. (It didn’t hurt that he was a handsome man.) I have watched this program several times, never get tired of it, he was one of the major players in the movie industry and I never saw him in a bad movie. Whenever a movie of his comes on, I watch it. I don’t remember the names of all of them, but I think over the years I have probably seen most of them.

The Bible references often the hope that Jesus shared with everyone that he spoke with. His, Messianic Kingdom, about to take place as stated in the Bible book of Revelation, highlights a time very soon where God will end all corruption and return the entire planet to a paradise earth. In Revelation 5: 3-5, it mentions, no more sorrow, sickness or death. The former things, that mankind has endured for thousands of years now will be done away with completely. I hope that I will be there. Imagine meeting our favorite actors, people of history and our family tree, all the way back to the beginning. Marvelous things are ahead for men of goodwill. We just have to get through the craziest time ever in history. Sickness, old age and suffering must end. We should all want better for each other. No hunger, no wars or poverty. ....... About 2/3 of the way through this lovely documentary, I started sniffling, then the tears came. Cary Grant was many decades older than I, but he was always my favorite leading man, the actor by whom I judge all others. No one has even come close. Not ever. I bought the video and watched the movie Charade more than 10 times. (Suspicion was the movie I watched so many times, more than any other movie. - I only watched movies one or two times. Two Kill a Mockingbird - great movie saw a few times - loved it. (Gregory Peck) but Cary's movies were movies I wanted to see over and over. Sigh he was wonderful.

I found a list of 22 movies released for 1964, of which "Father Goose" ranked #6. While not in the top 5, it came close. Nothing to be ashamed of. While critics at the time might have not liked it, the viewing public still did. It's also endured as one of the fan favorites. My favorite movie star of all time is Gregory Peck. Not far behind is Cary Grant. Two legends from both sides of the Atlantic that made decency and class cool and acceptable. Neither took himself too seriously. As a pleasant consequence everyone took them very seriously. What a far cry they were from the Brad Pitts and Tom Cruises of today's cinema. Reeking of ego and self love. Cary Grant was critical of anything that would offend an audience. Unlike "Tabloid Tom" and "Brad the Cad," to name just a few. Stars like Peck and Grant embodied everything a film star should represent. Today's narcissists should take a page from their play book.

In fact, he owned a home in Palm Springs, Ca which I got to go see since I live 15 miles from there. A friend of my brother knew the woman who bought it so I got to go inside. Good Lord, he was so handsome!! My brother knows his daughter Jennifer so he talks to her every so often!. I will always remember him as the MOST handsome man ever created, his sense of style and comedic acting! God threw away the mold after he created him! There aren't any actors/comedians nowadays who can come close! SURE MISS HIM!!!

i always thought he would be aloof , i met cary grant when he was 73 , i always thought him to be handsome, but he was even more handsome, and when he had his arm around me, speaking, i found him to be as friendly as your favorite dog, i had many actors and rock stars as friends as i always treated them as anyone who was not in the business. i am so glad i had the opportunity to meet him.

They really glossed over it in this biography, but the story with his mom is so sad! She had such intense PTSD over having an accidental hand in her baby son's death, that her husband (who was rarely home) had her institutionalized. Archie came home one day and his father told him that his mother ran off and left the family. Archie was devastated, and had real abandonment issues his whole life. It wasn't until his father died that he was informed he was the next-of-kin to his mother who was still in the institution. They talked about how happy he was to find her, which is true.... but she had endured 23 years of "treatments" at this institution, and was never really coherent the remainder of her life. It's such a tragedy that those kinds of unspeakable things happened- and this wasn't that long ago! I think her life was crazy depressing.

He came to Texarkana, Texas as one perhaps last public appearances it was just a talk and answer with him at the Pero Theater. Later he went to an event for the late Grace Kelly in Dallas . He was a favorite to me. I had watched his movies from a child to an adult and was so excited he had come to town at the very theater I had watched his movies. A remarkable man and oh so handsome! Yes, I had a sorta crush on him.

Very nice run thru of his life. Of course they didn't mention what I have always heard and read, that his film "That Touch Of Mink" was his highest grossing film ever. Doris Day was his insisted upon co-star. It was huge! Also they skipped over his 8 year involvement with Randolph Scott. That was a tough time for both of them when their respective studio's said it's either over or your careers are over. They were highly liked and loved in that business and that they were together. Cary died in Davenport IA. I happened to be there when I heard the news attending a poultry show. I thought what the hell was he doing there?! He was doing his Conversation With Cary show it turned out and he had a heart attack. What a stunningly handsome and unique person he was and is. Doris Day spoke very highly of him as well and that in itself is something.

Father Goose and Operation Petticoat are 2 of my favorites. As well as That Touch of Mink with Doris Day and The Bishops Wife.. All of which I now have on blu-ray. He was a spectacular actor. @Marisela Cantu Mother's great heartthrob was Frank Sinatra whose London concert at the Palladium I was fortunate to acquire 2 tickets to attend. I took my mother as a surprise outing in 1974 or 1975. Count Basie and his orchestra accompanied Sinatra. Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra starred together in a movie set in period war-torn Spain. Sophia Loren was the gal in the middle! Sinatra worked his live audience at the Palladium like no other. But it was always Cary Grant who filled the screen. Not even Sinatra could compete with Cary Grant on screen unless he was singing.

No man was ever more gorgeous than Cary Grant in the final scene of An Affair To Remember...when he walks into Deborah Kerr's bedroom, leans back against the door, and in the mirror we see the painting he's made of her in his Grandmother's shawl, and realizes that she's a cripple and has stayed away from him because of it. What a wonderful documentary. Cary Grant (Archibald Leach) seems to me a Charming, genuine man with a heart of gold. He certainly had a rough start yet made the best of it for himself. I don't think enough people know his whole life story or we would see his pictures on t-shirts like Marilyn Monroe. I realize that's not an equal comparison but still.
