Clooney isn't a great actor, he's likeable but lightweight and limited, and he doesn't remotely have the range or body of work that Grant left. Cary Grant made it look easy, he could be light in a light part, effortless, but he was still a monumental screen presence and an astonishingly natural actor. Almost everyone else from the 30s, 40s, 50s seems dated now, stylistic, melodramatic, a bit clunky - still great but of their time. Grant could walk into any modern film and fit right in. He is literally timeless. He's certainly the greatest British movie actor of all time. We shall not see his like again.

This is an era that was closing in time a golden era wrapped in all the joy of a new day. To look at cinema or TV today is a true shame to these actors who showed their generation their films in ambiance of days gone by along with the hope and promise they believed would evolve into the social media nightmare as of now. For what we should have become we as nation DID NOT evolve to accept with same character as the golden years of cinema. Collaborative medium privileged glorious years ahead he says what a beautiful vocabulary is not used today. Cary would not joke with Sinatra's innuendo as already in 1970 we were losing our national global character as a nation. What a shame I do not know how to make the youth of today see promise of tomorrow while they plug into their minds daily the garbage we all watch and follow never thinking of God anymore and God is Only One to Help US ALL!

They don’t make men like Cary Grant anymore. He had it all-biography, looks, charm, mystery, humour, humility, ease, accent, charisma, business acumen, wealth success, long life, men and women by the score-nobody comes close. He also had one of the greatest career runs in show business, almost bookending the studio system. His cinematic archetype had such resonance that was being lampooned by Curtis in Some Like It Hot and referenced by Connery in Dr. No. I still think ‘North by Northwest’ is Hitchcock’s greatest film, due in no small part to Grant’s otherworldly performance. The fact that neither ever won a categorical, competitive Oscar shows how Hollywood was/is driven by politics and nepotism as much as anything.

What an incredible man. His speech left a grown man in tears. Pure class alright, no wonder he was so successful, so loved and had so many friends.

As Michael Caine stated in his recent film tribute to this iconic actor on TCM, Cary Grant provided all actors of Caine's generation, i.e. Sean Connery, Warren Beatty, Peter O'Toole, someone to emulate and to strive to become. No one did it better or made it look easier in so many films. Sinatra was, in actuality, a good friend of Grant and they came to like each other after working together in a forgettable Stanley Kramer film in the mid 50s.
