Three books that I love with all my heart is “if you could see the sun” “I hope you don’t see this” and “this time it’s real” all are romantic but I found them relatable and realistic they all don’t have any spice whatsoever and are great for a quick romance obsession. I also follow the author for any more updates. If you aren’t looking for romance I highly recommend “good girls guide to murder” series or “blood-carver” they are both amazing however the second book for the book carver series doesn’t release until next year march, also most of Holly Jackson’s work I haven’t read but have heard great reviews from. I generally turn towards “underrated books” TikTok’s or KZbin shorts for more books.

My favorite series right now is the Discworld series. It's intimidating with 54 books, but they're broken into arcs for different characters, and it's super fun to see them popping up or interacting with each other. With my favorite character being Death (who talks in all caps and loves cats), I get to see him in every book, but a really fun and simple one to start with is Equal Rites.
@Moocow20038 күн бұрын
omg same I love Discworld and my favourite character is Death! Hogfather would be such a fun book to read over Christmas. Also, huge agree on Equal Rites, I think you could pretty much start anywhere and not be too lost but Equal Rites is a good story and doesn't assume you really know anything about the setting of Discworld. I also really enjoyed Guards! Guards! and I think that'd be a good place to start too.
@TheGirlWhoExists7 күн бұрын
Thirding because these were my exact thoughts! I started with Equal Rites but Hogfather is *such* a good book for the holidays.
@jadet-rex64757 күн бұрын
I'm going to make a huge confession: I'm reading them in order and have only gotten as far as Wyrd Sisters. I've already re-read the same five I already hit just because I enjoyed them so much I wasn't ready to leave. (I might have re-read the first two an extra time because Rincewind is hardcore a comfort character, especially when he straightmans Two Flower.) BUT! I have watched the Hogfather adaptation, and from what I can tell, it feels a little too 'Terry Pratchett's humor' to throw at someone as a first introduction to the already high-fantasy meta of Discworld. But I'm just a casual consumer, not a professional reviewer, who hasn't even gotten that far into the series. I do know that I'm going to see it to the end, because I heard it gets more severe as Pratchett has a better foothold on the universe and how it grew past the parody it was meant to be. And I look forward to seeing more Death. "I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I COULD MURDER A CURRY" just signed me onto the series for life.
@erine82497 күн бұрын
Personally I recommend either Guards Guards or the Wee Free Men, purely because Wee Free Men was my introduction to the series when I was little, but there really isn't a wrong answer for where to start. I'm re-reading the Hogfather right now for the holiday season and while I think it's fantastic, I feel like a lot of it would be lost on someone who isn't already pretty familiar with the setting and characters being explored. Not to say it wouldn't still be good, of course! But yeah Discworld reigns supreme lol
@saralaerevu87357 күн бұрын
I'd say a good place to start is with the guards series or even later with going postal. But definitely not with the first book (as much as I like Rincewind)

One of my all time favourite books is The Kingdoms by Natasha Pulley. Surprisingly thematically to this video, the book is set in an alternate history where Napoleon won in the Napoleonic wars, and the main character goes to work in a lighthouse! There's supernatural-or-maybe-sci-fi-who-knows time travel, there's romance, there's spooky abandoned lighthouses, there's sailing... really an excellent book. ALL of her books are amazing to be honest with you, but The Kingdoms is the first that sprung to mind (probably because of the lighthouse build!)
@aud99318 күн бұрын
15:30 My favorite book of all time is “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern. It’s a pretty quick read, but the imagery and world building is absolutely enchanting for me. I read it for the first time in middle school and I think it changed my brain chemistry because I’ve dreamt of going to La Cirque des Reves ever since, and will always be devastated that it’s in fact not real. Fortunately I can visit whenever I want by picking the book back up!

15:26 I cannot possibly decide on one single favorite book ever, so I'll name my top three: - Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is a funny, super well written sci-fi book about a man who wakes up alone on a spaceship and can't remember anything about his past at first. He starts figuring out why he's there and how he can get back to Earth alone, and ends up making some really cool discoveries in space. This book genuinely made me excited about science even though I've always been a humanities girl! - The long way to a small, angry planet by Becky Chambers is a lovely book about a crew of various kinds of aliens on a long journey in space. The found family vibes are excellent and the worldbuilding is insane, and this is what I would call science fiction for the girls and gays! - Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel is a memoir in the form of a graphic novel. Alison is an iconic comic artist who is well known for depicting the lives of the lesbian community in her comics, which she started in the 80s. Her memoir has her gorgeous art style going for it, but it also tells the story of her youth in a really beautiful way - especially centering on the complicated relationship between her and her father.

Some of my favorite books: Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree: a cozy book about a little coffee shop in a fantasy d&d esque world. Fantastic book, even has a prequel. Some classics like Alice in Wonderland, Sherlock homes, Anne of green gables Shady Hollow: cottagecore murdermystery is all i have to say. Wrinkle in time: very cozy book that mixes fantasy and science. Dune: i know you girls love science fiction. Im exhausted as i write this comment so please forgive my bad grammar and the fact that i only said the author of one book. Happy reading girls.

My favorite book is the invisible life of Addie La’rue. I’m a generally very picky about what I read but this book is one of very few that has gotten a perfect 10/10 for me. The writing well done and perfectly paced, the characters are very well flushed out and deep. It is a fantasy with a touch of bitter sweet romance and it is definitely worth your time. Also the audiobook so pretty good too if you’re interested :))

As well as Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. I finished Iron Widow so quickly cause I was way too eager to find out what happened next lol

My all time favorite book is Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune. It’s an incredibly cozy book about the MC going to the afterlife, and it’s so sad and so cozy. Definitely read it with some tea. It’s not for everyone, (IT WILL MAKE YOU CRY A LOT) but I LOVE it. And it has a lot of queer elements without being the main focus. It’s my favorite and taught me a lot about many ideas and concepts.

I was coming down here to recommend T.J. Klune as well! Whispering Door was fantastic but I personally adored The House in the Cerulean Sea (and its sequel). All three are 🤌

My favorite book is probably Slewfoot by Brom! It's really good if you're into light horror and especially female rage. It's set in the time of the puritans and follows a girl who develops a connection with a woodland god. I read the entire book in two days lol. Probably not the best rec for the winter season but if you're ever in the mood for something creepy it's perfect!

15:30 Book recommendations for Caryn and Connie: One of my all time favorite books is The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery. It's pretty short and easy to read, and it's in a similar vein to the likes of Anne of Green Gables and Little Women, but with an adult main character. It's great to use to get out of a reading slump. Another book series that I really love is The Folk of the air, if you haven't read those books yet (beginning with The Cruel Prince). The first time I read that series, I ended up rereading the entire series 5 times that year. The Folk of the Air is definitely more popular and mainstream, so you may have read it, but The Blue Castle is criminally underrated, in my opinion.

Super cute build! ALSO I HAVE BOOK OPINIONS. A book I really loved recently was 'Lost for Words'. First book in a while I absolutely demolished because I found the unraveling of the story in Loveday's first person POV to be so compelling. Dark backstory, tumultuous middle, hopeful ending. I really enjoyed the progression to that hope. Or, if you're more in the mood for a memoir, 'A Honeybee Heart has Five Openings' was a real page-turner imo.

15:24 For book recommendations, I'd defiantly recommend the Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children series!! It's sort of like a fantasy, sci-fi, horror combination, but the plot is super detailed and thought out! And there's a tone of interesting characters to enjoy! It's a young adult series, but I think it's enjoyable for most ages!!

My favorite books are in my native language - Latvian -, but so far i have found a few pieces from my favorite author Rūdolfs Blaumanis that has been translated to English. They're called "In the Lap of Happiness" and " In the Shadow of Death". I haven't read them myself, but from what I have read and know he was a great storyteller. Every time he wrote something he made sure to really flesh out his characters and the reasoning behind a characters actions is always there, it never catches you off guard. And the thing is that he didn't try to push any morals onto the reader, so in the end they get to decide whether it was just or not. And the stories were just about regular people and their very common issues so many can relate.

I know you asked for a favorite book, but my favorite book is part of a series so you're getting the entire series as a rec. The series is called the Raven Cycle, with the first book being the Raven Boys, and it's by Maggie Stiefvater. It's a YA contempory fantasy series that is so beuatifuly writtenn, and I cry every time I read it. There's magic, ghosts, assassins, and five teens in Virginia looking for a dead welsh king. Also lots of car talk. Just, so many cars described in loving detail.

Favorite book ever for me is “Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation” by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The official English translation has recently been completed and it’s long enough that it’s printed in 5 books. The story is incredible, I even have a tattoo of my favorite quote. MXTX’s other two books are also bangers. They’re set in an ancient Chinese fantasy world and this one in particular focuses a lot on doing the right thing even if it gets you villainized by society. It’s humorous, romantic, tragic, and hopeful all in one and I cannot recommend it enough
