CAS Jazz Concert Series
Presents
Little Jimmy Scott
JCFPL Miller Branch
6-18-1988
For 45 years, Community Awareness Series of the Jersey City Free Public Library (CAS/JCFPL) has produced a plethora of programming for library patrons and lovers of art, music, and culture. These programs ranged from performance/visual arts and community-based workshops to educational/informational forums and community outreach.
CAS was born from a successful experiment to provide free, high quality, cultural programming to the community through the effort and talent of the Spirit of Life Ensemble (SoLE) jazz group and the JCFPL. Over the years, CAS was privileged to host legendary names in jazz such as Little Jimmy Scott, David “Fathead” Newman, Sherry Winston, Carrie Jackson, Jeanie Bryson, Candido, Leslie Harrison, Lonnie Liston Smith and Pharoah Sanders, to name a few.
Join us as we revisit some of our wonderful archival jazz concerts that have taken place over the decades.
This program is made possible by a grant from the New Jersey State Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State, and administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, Thomas A. DeGise, Hudson County Executive & the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners.
